UK Tutors has been a disappointment to…

UK Tutors has been a disappointment to me.
They take very little accountability when a client refuses to pay, yet still expect tutors to forward them a fee.
I had a very negative experience with a client introduced to me through this agency. They basically accepted my tuition services - I tutored the client's daughter for an hour - then they refused to pay, ghosting me whenever I tried to contact them. Prior to the lesson, communication with this client had been very fluid.
Upon complaining to UK Tutors, they put the onus on me, and said they were unable to "force the client to pay". This completely leaves the tutor open to exploitation, with no back up. It means that clients can just do what they want and get away with it. I am now out of pocket and very disappointed, as I have never had a client refuse to pay before.
Do yourselves a favour, find your own students and forget going through this company, as they do not have your back and only care about their own needs.

The best of the tutoring sites.

I work as a Tutor for UK tutors. So far it has been a great experience. For a modest introduction fee UK tutors will put clients in contact with their preferred tutor. Unlike pretty much every other tutoring website UK tutors do not take a cut of the ongoing payments for tuition, which makes them a much more economical solution than their competitors. I would use UK tutors preferentially over other tutoring sites.

Excellent art tutor

Found an excellent Fine art Tutor through UK tutors who helped me prepare for my own teaching course and helped develop my art practice.
Extremely knowledgeable about current artists and universities, so I highly recommend any foundation or A Level students considering uni to contact her. The course is online so it's very flexible.
Contact Anne Edwards on UK Tutors :)

Brilliant service

Brilliant service, found the right tutor for me. Had to contact customer support for something and I got a reply within a very good time and it was sorted.

Costs not made clear upfront

I can't fault the tutor I found through this website. I can however say I feel duped by the website. It wasn't made clear, in an up front way that they would charge me for accessing information. Charges are on the website, buy only if you look for them. I felt it made out that there was a special introductory offer for using them when in fact the charge was for them and not your lesson.

I am real teacher who has a profile on Uk tutors

I am a secondary teacher who has gained tutees through Uktutors. I can assure you it is not a scam. I have had experiences with "bad tutees and their parents" where what they say they want before we agree to the arrangement and cash exchanges both from the tutor and tutee to UK tutors.YES, the tutor HAS to pay to get the details, the tutor is supposed to collect this back at the first session, however, this is not made clear to people purchasing the tutor's details and has made a very difficult situation a number of times. Having looked around at other sites I am often appalled at the number of unqualified people who think they can easily tutor. Many other sites take 25% of the fee from the tutor for each lesson they deliver. When you take into account the prep time a tutor does before each session that can bring the hourly rate down to £9! as a skilled professional I am not going to work for minimum wage.

Avoid - Appears to be Fake Tutors designed to extract money from "Introduction Fee"

Avoid. This appears to be a SCAM!

Contacted a tutor online to assist my daughter. Dubious response and short communication from the supposed "tutor".

They only seemed interested in me clicking a button to pay the £20 "introduction fee". No questions about my daughter, ability, requirements etc. No information about the tutor herself. Just one line answers.

A quick google and background check of the "tutor" showed no one with the tutors name in the area where they are supposed to live. No facebook info. No linkedin. Appreciate not everyone has an online footprint however there was no record from any college or university re. tutors with this name gaining the qualifications they had listed.

In other words looks like a fake tutor. A simple scam to get the £20 introduction fee.

As soon as I mentioned my doubts about the requirement and asked them about the local area they (supposedly) live in the conversation dried up.

Don't be taken in by this.

Shameful they take advantage of people trying to improve their children's education.

Please avoid.

Tuition at a fair price

The rates tutors charge on many other tuition sites will be more than on this one. There's a reason. You see, a lot of sites gouge the tutor for commission on every lesson they teach. This means that the tutor needs to up their fee by a third or more. Actually there's another problem too. Many good tutors much prefer to work for themselves, so they avoid such agencies like the plague: seriously reducing your choice of tutor.

With UK Tutors you only pay a very moderate introduction fee. Then UK Tutors steps out of the picture. So if you are a serious client who expects to have a reasonable number of lessons with the same tutor, then doing things this way will save you a lot of money.

To have the best experience do read the tutors' profiles carefully. The best one for you probably isn't going to be the cheapest or the dearest. Also, exercise a bit of common sense when reading a profile. If some young dude is claiming to have an outstanding degree from one of the best universities then do ask yourself why they are tutoring, and not pursuing some high-flying well paid job. As the old saying goes, "if something seems to good to be true then it probably isn't true. Finally, be a bit wary about the sparkling reviews. Do a lot of them seem very similar, or almost identical? You might even see the same review on more than one tutoring website: now how could that happen.
