Atrocious customer service

Atrocious customer service. Breathtakingly bad. Avoid avoid avoid. Tried to open an account in London for an account in Dublin. They lost paperwork, then when I sent more copies by signed for delivery, they were signed for them, but still no-one could trace them. Just a joke really. Unhelpful and expensive telephone contacts. I though Bank of Ireland were bad but Ulster Bank are farcical.

I'm switching banks this bank has the absolute worst customer service. I spent almost an hour on hold waiting to get through. When I finally did they were completely unhelpful and rude. They offer no help what so ever save yourself the time and go into your branch or go to a better bank. I for one will certainly not be banking with this bank.

Disgusting Service

Massive queue for the cash machine, lashing down with rain, no customers inside the bank but the staff refused to let my elderly mother take cash out over the counter. Absolutely disgusting service from the Killybegs branch.

Absolutely disgusting

Absolutely disgusting!
Spent an hour of my credits. Called them 5 times! Every time their system would lag and hung up.
On top of that they lie for being “busy” as their own coworkers say lines are completely empty so it won’t take much time.
Well done guys 👌🏻

Is Ulster bank racist??

My friend moved to the uk and is a legal resident. She put 500 pounds in her account to open it. A few weeks later she received a letter saying they had closed the account and did not have to tell her why. Now it is months later, two visits to the bank, several phone calls, on which the wait time was over 20 minutes and 3 emails to their Executive Office. They have not returned the 500 pounds. This is no way to treat people. She has a very different name and I cannot help but wonder if that is the problem! The fact she has not received her money back is a disgusting. Ulster bank is to be avoided at all costs.

Never experienced such appalling…

Never experienced such appalling service, everytime I try to do simple transactions there is a mess up and some of the staff are extremely rude and frustrating. For example, I wanted to order a new pin for a card I rarely use,the card never arrived. When i rang up Ulsterbank explained that there was a 'return to branch' marker on my account, put there by the bank not me. This was meant to have been removed last year when I had the same issue with not getting correspondence about this account, so the pin was being sent to a branch that I live nowhere near. The Ulsterbank staff member first of all quizzed me why I needed a new pin because he said he could see I used the card before (about 6 months prior), and why could i not remember it??????? He ran through all the transactions I had made, I explained to him that i had used the tap service with my card, he then said ohh there's a transaction over £30, I had the local vets to enter the card manually for a payment once, but why was I having to go through all this?????? He shouldn't question why I need a new pin????? Seriously that was his response!! To order the pin to my house I would have to go into the branch with a letter to get the 'return to branch marker' off the account, so a 6 hour drive (I live in county Clare) was what he was suggesting I had to do to get a new pin and he wasn't in any way apologetic about this even though this marker was supposed to have been removed by them nearly a year ago!

ATM faulty note

I used a Ulster bank ATM in Dublin and was given a damaged €50 note. There was only about 75% of the note remaining so I have no idea how this managed to be present in an ATM. When I queried this at the appropriate branch, I wasn't even apologised to and was referred to my own bank (permanent tsb) who are now working on the problem. Unacceptable service by Ulster Bank.

I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews

I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews, but I feel I have to do this in order to put the problem out there and because otherwise the complaint it's not getting to the right person. Basically, I'm a current customer of Ulster bank unable to get a statement (which I needed urgently) from my closed account because I have changed address in the meantime and after chatting to "10" customer service agents which all share different views and information, bottom line if you are abroad, you need to fly to Ireland and walk to a branch in order to get a statement of your closed account because in this century a bank is unable to share a bank statement of a closed account safely. How ridiculous does that sound? Well, I tell you something: true story.

Finally resolved

Finally sorted as of Saturday 12 October, got speaking to a associate that resolved my issue.

==Original comment and rating 1 star==
They marked my account as dormat and never told me about it. I complained about that and I was told that they "did"

I have been trying to get my money back for over 2 years.

I have recently been trying again and I have been messed about something shocking by both in branch and on phone. Having to waste my time trying to get back what is legally my but I keep getting messed around.

I tired to phone in a complaint but was told no. So I completed an online complaint form so we will see what happens. Not really holding my breath

I do have another account with them that I am considering moving to a bank that knows what they are doing.

There should be an option for zero stars. I believe Ulster Bank to be an unpleasant, inefficient and generally unhelpful bank who care little or nothing about their customers. I have been with them for many years and cannot wait to change to another bank.

This bank I have been with since… primary school

This bank I have been with since primary school, not only now am I being charged for my overdraft I am also be charged interest. Keeping in mind every month I’m technically paying the overdraft in full. Now on top of that I have to go through 3 security checks. It’s ridiculous online banking was supposed to be simple.

Very bad service

Very bad service provided at cookstown branch this morning. Waited half hour and was told by member of staff to move from where we were standing as they were going to see someone else. Another member of staff then said we might have to wait 30-45 mins more to be seen by staff member. They don’t care whether they get new customers or not. Never going back again.

Enough is Enough

Enough is Enough. All of the other bad reviews have said it all. I thought I was talking to a human being until the 'stock response on short loop' policy kicked in along with their 'rely on the customers apathy' ethos. I'm closing my account asap.
