Key broke in lock

Key broke in lock. Locksmith said he had never known this before. Ultion could offer no real explanation. No possibility the key may have been faulty in some way. It was only ordered Iast year. They could have offered me a free spare key as a minimal compensation. Was not expecting them to offer to pay for lock or anything outrageous.
