Sympathetic and caring.

Unfortunately I had to have my cat put to sleep this morning. The vet was very sympathetic and considerate and took such care in placing him on his blanket after he had passed away. He gave my partner and I a hug and couldn't have been kinder.
I have never had a bad experience, reception staff, nurses and vets have always been pleasant in their manner, polite and considerate .

To be avoided at all cost

I have loyally used Uplands Way since I got my Jack Russell Terrier as a puppy ten years ago. I live a short walk to the clinic in Stanton, which closed during the first Covid lockdown but has never reopened. Since then I have used the clinic in Bressingham. Over this ten year period I have spent thousands of £'s. On exorbitant costs for treatment for my dog. In early August 2023I was admitted to the Cardiac Unit at WSH, when I was discharged I could only walk indoors with a zimmer frame and outside with two walking sticks and obviously was told I could not drive my car. During my time in hospital a couple of neighbours volunteered to exercise her. One of them inadvertently walked her on a public footpath which is poorly maintained and very overgrown with tall grass, nettles and shoulder high thistles, so I avoid in the summer due to a previous experience where a plant caused a skin irritation, which the clinic gave her a treatment for. On my immediate discharge from hospital I contacted the clinic to ascertain if there was an emergency callout service. The person I spoke to was very unsympathetic, rude and expressed surprise that I should expect this. My sister in Ireland always treats her dogs with tinctures made with herbs and flowers for this type of condition. I followed her instructions and her skin complaint is now fully healed. I have subsequently found a privately owned VeterinaryClinic who do offer emergency call outs. When I am allowed to drive my car again I will drive to Bressingham and close my account personally, hopefully in front of a busy reception area, never to put a foot through their door again. Shame on you Uplands. I would not recommend this clinic as they seem only to be money driven and have very little empathy for people in the situation I found myself. SERVICE AND LOYALTY count for nothing, they don't know the meaning of the words.

Can't thank Adam (Veterinary Surgeon)…

Can't thank Adam (Veterinary Surgeon) and Charlotte (Veterinary Nurse) enough for performing life saving surgery on our Woody to remove a burst tumour on his liver. You have given us all extra time together which we will all treasure!! Thank you so very much! Thank you too to all the team at Uplands Way for all your help, support on Monday! Update - sadly, following a week of emotional turmoil, Woody was pts during an operation to ascertain the cause of high temperature and tissue protruding through the surgical wound. Surgery discovered that the muscle of the abdominal wall had broken down and infection had taken hold of his abdomen. We are told infection post surgery is common in dogs. Woody was 12 but full of life and has left a massive hole in my family. We are all totally devasted!!

Uplands Way Vets, Diss

I'm sorry to say I cannot think of enough negative adjectives to say about this place!
When I moved to Diss nearly 17 years ago, they were on the whole pretty good... I have a multi pet home, and had enjoyed a great and trusted working relationship with my previous vets for 24 years.
When Uplands was sold out to one of the large corporate groups, and moved to Bressingham... everything changed!
No continuity of care, a turnover of incompetent, negligent, apathetic vets, many of whom left me wondering what on earth I was paying their exorbitant fees for, and so very upsetting to have no confidence in a diagnosis or treatment for a beloved pet, sometimes seriously ill. Admin is also a complete shambles. And everything there is about squeezing as much money as possible out of you.
I have had a catalogue of disasters and terrible encounters with Uplands, especially over the last 5 years or so, and my animals have suffered for it... they seem to be going from bad to worse, and not only made some awful blunders, but been dishonest too.
Until the last straw of appalling treatment, has pushed me to finally manage to find an independent vet, who is taking on new clients, although it means travelling, they have been great!
I'm afraid I can't speak badly enough about Uplands, and this is not based on one poor experience. These 'sell out' practices seem to lose their way, and it becomes all about profit... not people and their much loved pets.

Rang the number for Attleborough branch…

Rang the number for Attleborough branch and not knowingly redirected to Bressingham. Arrived at Attleborough with a sick rabbit but only then told me that I needed to be at Bressingham. Travelled the extra 25 minutes to be greeted with a veterinary nurse who took the rabbit into the practice. Then in the car park told us that are rabbit could not be saved and said the only option was euthanasia. I understood but felt it was heartless and cruel to convey that information in the car park with others looking on including children. She had a clipboard and form to sign all ready she then asked if we wanted to be with him. We went in and was with him, she did ask why he was so special, which sounded more like why our you so upset.
We went home and buried him and the next day brought a plant t place over his grave. A few days later when we just feeling less sad a card and some forget-me-not seeds comes through the door to remind us of our loss. Then a few days later the bill. I was charged for a consultation with a vet that I never took part in therefore they did not consult me. Moving my many pets to another vets company after 18 years.

Terrible service today my little pet…

Terrible service today my little pet has same condition every year snd vet last year said ok to call and we will repeat meds without coming in . Phoned this morning as little one suffering this morning to see if could have repeat meds today before new year. I was told no as just over the year since seen before, I explained what the vet had said and was told their no longer here. I also explained why I was asking in these unprecedented times as my mum is coming out of hospital today having been seriously I’ll and with risk of covid I was in a very difficult position and would risk myself and them coming in therefore I wouldn’t be able to bring in my little dog so would they be able to under the
Circumstances make an exception as I don’t want my pet to suffer. I was told no they could give an appointment in 4 days and I couldn’t believe they would let my pet suffer they said could see nurse but would have to bring her in but I explained the danger again with the situation I find myself in and would they make any exception but they wouldn’t. When asked to speak to owner was told could put in an email. In normal circumstance would be able to bring pet in but was trying to protect us all but they simply threw the rules about they can’t repeat meds unless seen, at a cost to my pet suffering. I couldn’t believe this so I said you have left me no choice but to come in and put you myself and others at risk or go elsewhere. She said I could call New Years if worse but would cost me an extra £154 I said it’s why calling today but doesn’t alter the fact that I can’t bring her in due to situation and no one to bring her in.
Such a shame that they are just not willing to help in these covid times and they are supposed to have pets welfare at heart and surely put them first not their rules and regulations.

A Terrible Misdiagnosis! Uplands Way Vet, Bressingham, Diss

Uplands Way Vets Bressingham Diss.

A Terrible Misdiagnosis!

We presented our dog to Uplands Way Vets with symptoms that included a strong, hacking cough and were advised that it was a gastric, viral complaint and it would pass and he would improve.
However,he did not improve,so we returned him to be told yet again that is was a viral complaint and he just needed more time to recover.
Again,he did not recover, so we returned him yet again for blood tests and a scan. On this occasion we were told from the results that it was now pancreatitis.
He was then treated in house for the pancreatitis, but he did not respond as he should have done, with the treatment given.
We were very alarmed at the care he received whilst he was kennelled for treatment at Uplands. He was very stressed, continually barking and he was presented to us with faeces stuck to his fur. We were then met with dismissive and rude responses from the counter and nursing staff when we challenged them about this.
Our dog was so stressed that it was deemed that he should come out of hospitalisation early and we gladly took him home.
We returned him two days later as his condition had worsened and he was evidently in pain. He was clearly not responding to the treatment.
The vet had no idea as to what to do and seemed completely out of her depth with this case. They could not provide us with the pain relief drugs required and bizarrely sent us into town with a prescription for Boots the chemist. Why did they not have these drugs?
The drugs had limited effect and it was clear that our dog was suffering and we had to do something as Uplands were completely clueless as to what should be done.
We then asked a vet we knew in London to help us and asked him to look at Uplands scans and results.
Instantly he saw cancerous masses in our dog's oesophagus, stomach and lung. These masses had been repeatedly missed by numerous vets and staff at Uplands.
This misdiagnosis had left us with a dog in a very serious condition, in pain and without the correct medications and pain relief.
It took the intervention of this other vet to make a correct diagnosis, using Uplands own scans, sent to him in an email!
At this point we were astounded that Uplands could be so incompetent and ineffective in treating our dog.As we had no faith in Uplands and their ability to help our dog we had no choice but to drive him to the Vets in London.
Unfortunately, there, the vet confirmed his diagnosis and told us that nothing more could be done for him. Our poor boy was then put to sleep whilst he was still under sedation.
This was a terrible, ugly affair for our dog and ourselves. He suffered greatly because of Uplands Vets repeated incompetence and indifference.
Shame on you Uplands, for not allowing our beloved, trusting dog to have the peaceful and dignified end he so deserved....We shall never forgive you for this.

By their very own admission Uplands Way Vets made a catalogue of mistakes and made very poor, questionable decisions, with the care for our dog.
These included...
Repeated Misdiagnosis.
Delays in forwarding the scan results to the other vet....This cost us days.
The waiting room floor not being cleaned / disinfected after we witnessed two ill dogs vomiting upon it.
Being presented with our dog with faeces stuck to him, after he had been in their kennels.
The rude, dismissive counter and nursing staff we encountered.
Having to source our own drugs from a Diss Pharmacy.

It is our considered opinion that Uplands Way Vets of Bressingham,Diss, are Incompetent,Dangerous,Unprofessional,Arrogant and Discourteous.
Please heed this warning !

Appalling

Appalling behaviour from a vet who arrived to treat an emergency equine impaction colic case on a very hot day. Despite the heat and diagnosing an impaction, the vet gave my pony no hydration, fluids or laxatives, didn't have any tubing equipment, didn't request it until I asked her to get it ASAP, turned out to have only requested a very wide tube that she failed to insert, and no fluids or laxatives or pump and bucket to deliver them. The vet spent very little time with my pony as she was mostly 100 yards away in the car park with her own dog. I had another vet attend as a matter of urgency, but with colic intervention needing to be swift and appropriate, as every horse owner knows, by then it was too late and my pony died. The admin at the clinic was dreadful too - no follow-up to my initial phone call to the clinic to explain what had happened, and it took 5 months and a solicitor's letter before I finally received a copy of my pony's veterinary notes. I reported my concerns to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, who carried out an investigation. The RCVS has since written to 2 vets at Uplands Way issuing them with advice, to be kept on record at the RCVS for 5 years: it can be taken into account should any similar concerns be raised to the RCVS by other clients. No pony or owner should have to go through the traumatic and avoidable experience that we went through, and which ended in my pony's death.
