Bought a VW t5 high top from vanstation .too far for me to travel to look at it .zoomed in on all the photos no dents or scratches on the body work .add said it started ok but needed a new camshaft and you can check the vehicle on delivery.when van was delivered they had to jump start it twice before putting it on my drive. It had a big dent in the back door .Delivery guys said we don't work for vanstation we are self employed and drove off.contacted vanstation and the said send photos of the damage and they would look into it but they never got back to me.Other problems battery drain cable hanging down underneath that connect to handbrake cable.sliding door came off runner broke .central locking on rear door not working. Its had a respray bar the roof which wasn't mentioned.Once they got your money they don't want to know.Dont buy unless you get the vehicle properly checked over

Brought a van yesterday test drove all…

Brought a van yesterday test drove all good but couldn't get above 30 mph as speed limit was 30 mph.
Got 40 miles down the motorway no 5th gear. Got home no clutch luckily I googled it and the linkage had come free so did it back up still no 5th gear . Rang them first thing this morning not even 24 hours owning the van was told..... its sold as seen not our problem.
My argument is had I have been able to do a corrtest drive then I would have discovered no 5th gear......poor service from what seemed to a bunch of nice guys.
Not even any negotiations where they could fix it and I would have happily payed for any parts.
Poor poor customer service lads.

Badly ran company. Don’t leave a deposit !

I paid a £250 holding deposit but when the time came to get the van it had already been sold. This was 3 weeks ago and they still haven’t refunded my £250. I’ve asked 3 times. I’ve had to contact my bank today for a refund. Luckily I used a credit card for it. Avoid this company. Badly ran and very unprofessional.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

I purchased a van from Vanstation that was advertised as being in “excellent condition with no issues.” Unfortunately, this claim turned out to be very misleading. Upon receiving the vehicle, I immediately discovered multiple serious problems that had never been disclosed during the sale. The windscreen was cracked, which is a major defect that should have been fixed or at least mentioned upfront. On top of that, the central locking key fob didn’t work at all, leaving me unable to lock the van properly. These hidden faults clearly showed that the van was not in the promised condition.

When I contacted Vanstation about the non-functioning key, they assured me it “only needed a new battery.” This was dishonest or shockingly uninformed. After replacing the battery myself, the key fob still didn’t work. It turned out the entire central locking system was faulty, not just the battery. In the end, I had to spend £500 out of pocket on unexpected repairs for the cracked windscreen and the locking system. These are costs I never would have agreed to if Vanstation had been transparent about the van’s true condition. The stark difference between the advertised “no issues” condition and the reality of a damaged, faulty van is unacceptable and feels like a blatant misrepresentation.

Minimal Compensation and Poor Communication
Given the significant problems and expenses I incurred, Vanstation’s response was deeply disappointing. They offered me a token £50 refund as compensation for the inconvenience and repair costs. I appreciated the gesture in theory, but £50 is a drop in the bucket compared to the £500 I had to spend due to their misrepresentation. Still, I accepted this small refund – however, getting them to actually pay it was another ordeal.

After agreeing on the £50 refund, I waited an entire week but no payment arrived. I found myself repeatedly calling and chasing Vanstation for this money that they had promised. Each time I contacted them, I struggled to get a clear answer or any sense of urgency. When I finally managed to speak to someone who knew about the refund, I was told that the payment had been “sent to the accountants” and would be issued whenever they “see it.” This vague, dismissive answer showed a complete lack of transparency and accountability. There was no clear timeline, no proactive follow-up, and frankly no concern for making things right. Even for a mere £50, I was left in limbo, wondering if and when I would ever see the refund. This level of poor communication and indifferent service made a bad situation even worse.

My negative experience with Vanstation started from the sales process itself. The entire purchase felt rushed and unprofessional. The company sent a representative to show me the van, but this person had virtually no knowledge about the vehicle. Basic questions about the van’s features and condition were met with blank stares or deflections. It was clear the representative couldn’t answer even simple inquiries, which was both frustrating and concerning. This lack of preparation suggested that selling the van quickly was the only priority, rather than ensuring the customer understood what they were buying or that the van was as advertised. The way the sale was handled left me feeling uneasy. Instead of a professional, informative walkthrough of the vehicle, I got someone who was just going through the motions. There was no detailed explanation of the van’s condition or history, and no effort to address potential concerns on the spot. In hindsight, the rushed handoff and the rep’s inability to answer questions were red flags I wish I had heeded. It felt extremely unprofessional and set the stage for the dishonesty and poor service that followed after the purchase.

Overall, my experience with Vanstation was extremely negative. The company was dishonest about the vehicle’s condition, leading me to purchase a van with major hidden problems. Their customer service was poor — they provided only minimal compensation and made me chase them endlessly to receive it, showing a glaring lack of transparency. The unprofessional, rushed sales process only added to my disappointment, as it became clear they were more interested in making a quick sale than in honest business practices or customer satisfaction. I feel thoroughly let down and frustrated by Vanstation. This experience has cost me time, money, and trust. I cannot recommend Vanstation to anyone based on what I went through. If you value honesty, reliable service, and professionalism, you should be very cautious about dealing with Vanstation (or better yet, look elsewhere).

Reply from Vanstation

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we’re genuinely sorry that you feel dissatisfied with your experience, we must respectfully address the inaccuracies in your review and offer some important clarification.

At Vanstation, we strive to be transparent, fair, and professional in every transaction. We believe it’s only right to provide a full and accurate account of what actually occurred during your purchase.

To begin, your claim that the van was sold as being in “excellent condition with no issues” is misleading. During the sales process, the crack in the windscreen was pointed out to you in person. It was not hidden or overlooked. We were upfront about the issue before you committed to anything, and we discussed it openly. The same goes for the key fob—we informed you at the time that it appeared to be a simple battery issue, which is a common and minor fault. As a result of these minor concerns, we agreed to reduce the price of the van accordingly.

The discount we provided was specifically to allow for the replacement of the windscreen and battery in the key fob. After reviewing the vehicle yourself and considering the adjusted price, you confirmed you were happy to proceed with the sale. You then paid the agreed price and signed the invoice, which clearly stated you were satisfied with the vehicle’s condition. This was not a rushed or pressured sale—it was a mutual agreement based on transparency and negotiation.

After the sale, you later reported that the key fob issue was not resolved by replacing the battery and that the problem was actually with the central locking system. While this was not known to us at the time of sale (and certainly not something we attempted to hide), we accepted your feedback in good faith and offered you a further goodwill payment of £50 to contribute toward any repairs.

We acknowledge and agree that the refund process was slower than it should have been. Once the refund was approved and passed to the accounts team, it was unfortunately delayed, and this caused you understandable frustration. This was not intentional, and we have since reviewed our internal process to prevent similar delays in the future. We are sorry for this part of your experience and appreciate your patience while the issue was resolved.

You also mentioned that the sales representative was unprepared and unable to answer your questions during the viewing. While we aim for all our team members to be as helpful as possible, it’s important to understand that our yard staff oversee over 500 vehicles of various makes and models at any one time. It’s simply not realistic for any one individual to recall every detail about every vehicle while out on the yard.

However, all relevant vehicle information is always available at the desk or through the listing. Had you raised any questions there, our team would have gladly accessed the full details for you. We also encourage all customers to read the online advert and ask questions during the process, which you were welcome to do at any time.

We take issue with the accusation that we misled you or sold you a van that was not as described. The facts are that the windscreen and key fob issues were brought to your attention before purchase. You chose to proceed after a full assessment of the vehicle, with a mutually agreed price reduction in place. You signed documentation confirming that you were happy with the vehicle at the point of sale.

To then later claim that these faults were hidden or that the sale was dishonest is simply not accurate. While we understand you may be frustrated about the repair costs, these were already reflected in the adjusted price, and we went a step further by offering a goodwill refund afterward.

We are always open to constructive criticism and acknowledge that the delay in the refund was not acceptable. For that, we again apologise. However, we also believe it’s important to defend our reputation when claims are made that do

Advertised the truck ready for work. More like ready for scrapyard. We buy broken vans is the ad. Should be WE SELL BROKEN VANS.

Complete scammers

Complete scammers. Was supposedly sold a van in great running condition, clean and tidy and with no warning lights. Told to expect delivery of the van around lunchtime. They delivered it at 11.30 pm and the driver wanted to get on his way. How I was meant to inspect a van in pitch black and late night. Have and to spend 2k on repairs to a so called good condition van just to get it through the mot and still need another £500 worth of parts to get everything working.Tried to call and speak to William who sold me the van and have just been ignored. Every time I call I am told William will call me back. I ahbe purchased many vans over the years and have found vanstation to be the worst I have dealt with. Vans are not described truthfully, avoid at all costs and use a reputable firm. I think their actually worse than buying of Ebay. I have reported them to trading standards as vehicles are not accurately described and customers are lied to.

Great Service

Vehicle as described and a relatively smooth transaction. Only issue was not enough fuel left in the vehicle and it ran out on the test drive. Transaction saved by the delivery driver who got more diesel, no other problems and is a minor issue that the seller can learn from.

DO NOT buy a van from these cowboys

DO NOT buy a van from these cowboys. Paid over the odds for a rusty van that needs tons of work. They’re only interested in your money and they don’t reply to emails, phone calls or messages. I’ve spent over £500 in parts already. Please avoid and buy somewhere else. Update 15/03/25 I’ve now spent over £1500 on parts and welding. Please avoid these scammers.

Do not pay before inspecting.

Found a van on eBay that looked good value. Pictures were good and condition of mechanical, bodywork and interior described as perfect. Almost agreed to buy over the phone and have it delivered, which is very much their preferred way of trading. Decided to take the time to inspect the van. Best decision ever. It was a wreck. Inside, outside, mechanically, it was trashed. I understand their business model, it needs you to take the bait and believe you are getting great value and buy over the phone. They don't take credit cards because the credit card company would be responsible for the sale. That, and the negative reviews here, tells you all you need to know about Van Station. Pay more for something that is nice and never, never, never pay for a commercial vehicle that you have not seen.

To help us investigate further, could you please provide more details regarding your visit, such as the vehicle registration of the van you came to see? This will allow us to better understand the situation and respond appropriately.

Regarding the photos, I completely understand how they might appear different in person. However, we take great care to ensure our photos are as accurate as possible by using natural lighting without filters or enhancements. Additionally, we complement our listings with YouTube walk-around videos for most vehicles to provide an honest and thorough representation. We’re also more than happy to accommodate requests for additional photos, videos, or even a live video call to showcase specific aspects of any van.

We always encourage customers to view our vans in person, bring along a trusted mechanic, or even book an independent inspection like the AA for complete peace of mind.
