Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

My experience with VetsNow was mixed. The vet and staff were kind and professional, which I really appreciated. However, I found the insurance claim process frustrating. They charged an admin fee and it took about almost a week to process, which feels long compared to what I’ve experienced elsewhere, where claims are usually completed in a couple of days without an extra fee. I understand this is an emergency service, but I don’t think the additional admin fee is reasonable as the vet fees was already expensive. Overall, while the care was good, the insurance handling could be much more efficient.

Came to the rescue when our little Cockapoo injured her leg quite badly and needed an emergency appointment on Christmas Day. Helpful, caring and don't know what we'd have done if we'd not been able to get the kind help we received.

Our dog was very poorly on Boxing Day. We were directed to Vets Now by our regular Vet. My call was answered quickly and my details quickly taken. I was very rapidly directed to the nearest centre by text almost immediately. We were sat in the waiting room when we arrived but because our dog was haemorrhaging we were taken to a vet without delay. Our dog was admitted and remained at the hospital for two days. Vets Now contacted us regularly to keep us informed of our dogs condition and answered our calls when we rang. Our dog was discharged after two days and was much better for the treatment. Before we left we were given guidance on how to support her recovery and necessary medication. Costs were explained at each stage and we were informed as to how we could claim on our insurance. All of the staff that we met were courteous and supportive. Our dog is almost back to full health now due to the care and treatment given. If I have the smallest suggestion for improvement it would be that we possibly could have been given slightly more guidance on how to feed our dog after hospital. Overall the service and results achieved by Vets Now with Dottie saved our Christmas!!

The vet just didn’t seem confident in the treatment. Almost just followed what I said was done last time and when I asked about medication she went off to ask someone else which she should have know about. They also took a full day to call me to collect my cat when I got there they said he was ready in the morning but they didn’t have time to call for me to fetch him but of course were happy to charge for the time.
When they did call me to collect I said I would be there in 15mins which I was and then had to wait an hour for them to bring him to me. They knew I was on my way.

For the kindness of the vet the reception staff and the nursing staff I give 5 stars. So kind, helpful and understanding. For the price I give you 1 star. You have us over an emotional barrel. We want to care for our pets in the best possible way so you take advantage of this and charge us ridiculous, scandalous amounts of money because you know we’ll pay. It’s a form of exploitation. When I lived in Spain the vets wouldn’t have dreamt of charging prices like yours.

Very friendly staff, attentive informative and spent time reassuring my dog..
Staff resolved the problem promptly and effectively and we were able to leave the clinic after about half an hour, my dog being quite settled.

We visited Davide at the vets now in Eastbourne and cannot thank him enough for what he did for my dog. He was amazing and I am so glad he was working the night I needed to come in. I honestly don’t think my dog would be under the correct care and treatment without his knowledge and opinion. We saw quite a few vets in the last few weeks and he was by far the best.

Took my mums dog to Vets Now ,tunbridge wells on Saturday 9th August. They gave her an injection metacam,10 simulax 10 ml.metacam ,consultation.£560. They know we love our pets,so can rip us off as they wish. I don’t think they care about animals ,only money. It’s time vets were regulated.Robbery without violence in my opinion. Having got that off my chest, the staff were very kind to the dog.

In May, they kept my cat alive when her kidneys were failing. Diego and a female vet (apologies I don’t recall the name) were fantastic and I’m so grateful as miraculously she has made a great recovery after treatment with my regular vet.
It is an expensive service but pets somehow have a tendency to get ill over weekends and I’d rather I had somewhere to go than having to wait until Monday which may have been too late in her case. Thank you to everyone who helped our cat Dee!

Failed to complete a basic routine check, totally missed doing a temperature check during an examination during an emergency visit which would have identified the issues 24 hours earlier, when I raised this directly with Vets Now after discussing it with my usual vet they tried to blame it on my pets behaviour. Left feeling very upset, frustrated and would definitely not recommend.

Critical care overnight - very happy with care as was too poorly to transfer to referral vets, stabilised enough to continue journey next day.

It would be five star if it wasn’t three times more expensive than visiting our regular Vets.

Able to make the emergency appointment quickly.
The vets were amazing and our Ronin was well cared for.
Great communication throughout the whole experience and had every confidence in the care that our beloved cat was receiving.
Thank you so much.

The system for referral was clear and quick. A timely appointment was made straight away within 20 minutes drive. On arrival, my dog was seen immediately. The vet was clear and knowledgeable and was able to give initial treatment for my dog’s condition. I was particularly grateful for clear communication as I am hearing impaired which can cause additional problems.
