Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Had to use out-of-hours vets, the service from Vets Now and the team in Worcester was amazing. They couldn't do enough for me and my dog. Nadja Stuertzbecher was so kind. She came out to talk to me about the treatment she was going to give to my dog. Her care was outstanding. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of using Vets Now out-of-hours service.

We had to make an emergency appointment for our dog and again we were given the utmost care. We left feeling very reassured, certainly a lot calmer and with the assurance that we could contact them at any time if we needed them.

£310 for a 10 minute consultation not inc medication!
Absolutely scandulous!
My pet insurance would not pay out the entire fee, as they obviously do not expect a call out fee to be so high. IF people are on a modest income they may feel the hard choice of not being to treat their pet or face severe hardship, even if they did the right thing and got insurance.
YOu get some generic email copied and pasted saying contact them about the price, and that emergency vets cost more, but others do not charge this.
Even the Prime Minister or corporation Chief Executives don't get paid £310 for 10 minutes work!

Rabbit had stopped eating, drinking, and pooping for more than 12 hours, presenting the risk of GI stasis which is potentially fatal. Vet nurse who took my call at 2am was calm, patient, and showed genuine concern - suggesting ways to tempt his appetite but ultimately recommending I bring him in. Vet who saw him at 3am administered fluids, pain relief, and gut motility drug; and provided liquid feed to take home. Gave an honest appraisal of his condition and possible outcomes. Vet nurse was again kind and reassuring, showing genuine interest and empathy. I'm really pleased to say that 6 hours later, bunny started to drink and eat on his own and is now back to his old cheeky self. Had I not brought him in I think it would have been a very different story. Thank you so much.

The vet we met, the quality of care, and reception staff were great, but the place was far from clean, both in the waiting room and examination room (open bins with medical waste on display). Also, the basic cost, at around 7 times the normal consultation fee is extortionate even taking into consideration that it's an out of hours emergency service, but I guess that even if they charged £600 for an emergency consultation, the captive audience would still have to use the service as there appears no other option if emergency out of hours care is needed.

I needed a vet urgently for help with a kitten that had suddenly become very unwell. The whole team were fantastic, very calm (which was greatly appreciated) I was kept up to date with the kittens progress and was fully involved with the treatment plan. Twelve hours later I collect my kitten and she is completely back to normal.

Seen promptly and reassured that everything was OK after my dog hadn't eaten for 2 days and showed signs of being in pain. I can't fault the Vet I saw, and the treatment my dog received, or the receptionist who was also very pleasant.
The downside is how expensive the out of hours fee is. I appreciate they have to cover the salary and overheads costs but £307.50 for an out of hours fee and consultation seems excessive. This is before the cost of any medication that may be required.

We were seen promptly by a very kind vet who examined Henry thoroughly and gave us reassurance.

I feel like my cats appointment was rushed considering we were paying £307 for him just to be seen.
We then took him back to our local vets the following day to be seen and got a proper diagnosis and medication. I feel like the first trip was a waste of time and money.
