Positives: Beautiful restaurant, very photo worthy. Perfect location in the city centre Oxford. Efficient service, friendly staff. Birthday drink and £25 off my food was a nice gesture.... See more

Great expectations, unfortunatly not met
FIrst impression was of a lovely ombiance and setting.
The actual food we had was good.
However having previewed the menu and decided what we would order, only to be told that several dishes of choice were not available. Service was fine and we had an enjoyable afternoon. However that bit of magic was missing and we won't be rushing back.

Newcastle
Newcastle. Waited 30 mins for our table which we had booked, not even offered a drink. Waited 1 hour 30 mins for our food to come to our table. Not ideal on an evening with 3 children. The steak was just a steak, nothing else, not even a lettuce leaf. My husband ordered a side of mash which we were told had cashew nuts, as he is alergic to them he was assured they will do it without, then after much suspense it arrived to the table with cashew nuts! Childrens meal burnt burger, very poor. Very expensive had to feed the children when we got home. Never going back. Sat in a cold conservatory with our coats on. If there was a choice to give it a 0 star i would! After reading the reviews (wish i had done this prior to wasting so much money) the restaurant clearly is not learning from the feedback.

We visited on the 20th March around 1.30 on a trip to Oxford for out 25th Wedding Anniversary, the lady that greeted us was pleasant and took us to our table, the lady that served us gave us the impression she didn’t really want to be there, there was no customer service!
The meal was pleasant enough! but wouldn’t rush back!
Shocking
Shocking, absolutely shocking!!!!!! My daughter booked for sunday lunch, months prior as we had tickets for the theatre, before we realised it was mothers day. 4.30 booking, we were early so had 2 lots of drinks at the bar......yes it took that long to get seated. We waited and waited, no offer of drinks.........we had pre ordered our food as suggested. 30 minutes later we got our meals. My roast beef was still mooing.....I like mine medium rare, the fat was still bloody😱 My daughters half chicken was a boneless leg and a wing, ...thats not half a chicken!!! 2 roasties, 2 stems of temderstem and something else unrecognisable as veg. Don't take bookings if you can't fulfill them! I complained and was asked.what I wanted to do. We left without eating as we sent the meals back. I only gave 2 stars as the bar service was good and the cocktails nice if VERY EXPENSIVE. Avoid at all costs.
Really let down and disappointed
Really let down and disappointed. Very poor in catering for allergens.
Beyond the decor and clean toilets what an experience 🤦🏽♂️
Beyond the decor and clean toilets, this place has nothing more to offer!
The food is poor especially for the prices they are charging; I ordered my go to burger and when I asked it to be cooked in a certain way and I was told I could only get it well done, it led me to believe it was a frozen. Anyway, on getting the burger I felt it could have been from the local chippy by the way it looked and tasted. My sister-in-law ordered the lobster mac n’cheese, which looked like an overdone tuna bake. Disappointing!
If the food offering was better, this place could have so much potential.
Terrible experience last night
Terrible experience last night, quality of the food has dropped off a cliff. We’ve always liked the crab nachos starter but now it’s just tasteless mush and the tomahawk was just ok, the side’s arrived 6 mins after the main.
The staff seem nice but not trained very well and under a lot of stress with it being so busy.
Both tables beside us complain about service and quality of the food, must be a nightmare to work there.
Horrific - Victors Newcastle
Victors Newcastle
We had been before and it was ok so thought we would try again. Very disappointing! We were told our main of Tomahawk Steak ‘would take a while to prepare’ so we had to order a pointless overpriced starter of Bread and Butter. The £80 Tomahawk Steak for 2 was full of fat (I know Ribeye is fatty but this was too much), tiny portion of Fries and small portion of Mac n Cheese. They only had 1 source we requested so had to have 2 the same. Food was ok. Waiting staff are pushy and asked if they could get us another bottle of wine, we said ok but then half way through the bottle someone came over an stated we had to leave in 15mins as they needed the table back. AFTER WE WAITED 20mins FOR OUR FOOD TO ARRIVE! I get that but why get us to order another £30 bottle of mediocre wine just to ask us to leave? (Why not say ‘would you mind moving to the seated Bar area with your drinks’ horrific! Couple next table sharing every course and 1 bottle of wine left to crack on with a lesser bill? Very typical of young waiting staff/ students in restaurants who do not care as it’s not their business. Waiying staff walking round in Blue Jeans and scruffy white trainers?! For some reason there was a ‘DJ’ playing House music?! Not what you fancy having an overpriced meal with the family, I did not know if I wanted a dessert or a line and dance?!! I dont think this place knows what it wants to be. We will not be back. So they’ve saved me £150-£180 per visit. If you do go for the ‘image’ take loads of photos for social media and never go back.

Service not the best
Food for a £340 bill not great
Main course Waited 45 minutes after starter , it was my son’s birthday they did not acknowledge this even tho I told them when I booked
We sat at bar when arrived we were the only ones there waited 5 minutes to get a drink bar staff did not even acknowledge us
Waitress were pleasant but the sync from the kitchen to the floor there was obvious something wrong
Such a lovely restaurant but lacks quality in service and food £340 our bill was for 6 people and that i dont mind but my poor auntie had to wait 10 minutes after we got our main meal for a simple margarita pizza that arrived under cooked ,,how can a 5 star quayside restaurant on a thursday evening not busy get that wrong , that we would of over looked but there was too many hiccups from the moment we arrived such a shame at such a big cost, the food was disappointing, i even ordered more drinks and they got one missing ? There needs to be a better working team the staff are not working together to get simple things right , from front of house to bar to restaurant to kitchen should flow easily with good food ,,victors just have not got it right somehow , it’s my second visit I came in march for Mother’s Day so I thought I would bring my family for my sons birthday , but I’m disappointed ☹️

Bottomless Brunch today was absolutely amazing. Food delicious. Service excellent and drinks flowing. Also entertainment from DJ to fire eaters 🔥 amazing. Victors you have done yourself proud. Hands down best venue in Newcastle.
Quiet afternoon
Quiet afternoon. Service was excellent. Food was mediocre at best, and expensive for mediocre food. I'm not going back....£600+ for 6 people.
Victors shambles
Table booked for 6.30 waited 10min for table had to wait for drinks order which they got wrong then 30 minutes for starters which were ok apart from the hair in my sushi. Nobody came around to ask if everything was ok or if you wanted more drinks. After waiting an hour for our mains we got the manager over to see what was happening, he said he would sort it but he never came back. When the food arrived we had ordered 3 medium rare steaks one was still alive one over and one medium. I ordered coconut crusted cod loin which was in a white sauce it was awful my wife had the chicken which was dry as sticks. When we asked for the bill the manager said he would knock off £50 for our trouble but we told him to have a rethink and he came back with half price so we still had to pay £130. Absolutely disgusting would never recommend to anyone! Two and a half hours of pure HELL celebrating me and my daughter’s birthdays and Mother’s Day!

6 friends went for afternoon tea and I couldn’t fault it, everything was delicious and super fresh, the scones were straight out of the oven, our waitress was very attentive and lovely. Lovely decor, would definitely recommend
Where do I start
Where do I start, I booked a table at this restaurant for my partners 40th, which staff knew about before arrival.
The restaurant is well decorated and staff extremely polite but un thoughtful. We ordered drinks, about to order food then some kind of wine party with 8 woman along with ice buckets hanging over our table literally shadowing half of the table knocking my arms off these ice buckets ( which were put there by staff) it was absolutely ridiculous this was expected to be how we would eat our food when it arrived . We asked to be moved which seemed to really annoy the waitress who we asked which made me feel uncomfortable, instead of the waitress moving the ice buckets she then started situating us on 6-8 person table by ourselves side by side, basically destroying the dining experience of sitting facing each other , i then ,before the girl set it up ,requested a similar table to which we had pre booked a week prior which seemed to be a problem even though there was empty tables which I was told "are booked for the next guests " I had to step in and tell waitress kindly that we were actually already in the restaurant and wanted the available table or we were leaving , the staff were reluctant to seat the other guests near this group of rowdy women but were fine us being there , really awkward uncomfortable situation that had already spoilt our night before the food was even ordered everyone was watching what was going in shaking there heads.it was ridiculous.
We were then given a different waitress called Beth who may i add was an absolutely lovely girl who is great at her job and deserves a shout for her efforts completely opposite to the snotty tart that dealt with us at the start, they need more like Beth less like the other.
Then the food came , wow what a let down, looks all fancy and well presented, and may I add we have been all over Newcastle for food never left 1 bad review ever. The food was absolutely terrible, meat raw the sauce was like a pot of greasy vomit . My girlfriend enjoyed her meal but we were literally pulling out rock solid lettuce buts from her dish that the steak knife wouldn't even cut through it was horrible to say the least. I then had words with the supervisor which was also a lovely girl, I told her I didnt want to pay for my dish as I couldn't eat it as it wasn't what I ordered basically with raw meat, explained to her how much they had spoilt our night. I was then told she would take the my food off bill which was more than justified as it was rotten, we were then told the drinks would be free. Got bill , still charged me for drinks and even had the audacity to charge me for chips that come with my dish which I couldn't eat, couldnt be bothered to make a scene ,we just wanted to leave by then as we were sick of the place. In hindsight I shouldn't have paid anything at all and just left, the whole experience was disgusting, I wouldn't recommend anyone go here this isnt fine dining at all , just looks the part nothing else , we left hungry disappointed and let down if anything as they actually knew it was her 40th horrible horrible experience wouldn't wish it on anyone.
All in all despite all the above we were given a glass of cheap champagne each for the trouble wow comical, one to remember for certain, all for the wrong reasons.
100%,genuine review word by word nothing over exaggerated at all and would love to hear the response from management if they could give any explanation at al to how they think any of this is acceptable as what I've written is 100% true. Avoid
Lovely setting
Lovely setting, good service, great music. Unfortunately, food did not meet expectations. This was a works do and our table was for 20+ people so not sure if this was the reason for long wait and poor meal. Will come again with just my husband and review the food again.
