Check in at Perth for domestic flight August 10, 2026. Total chaos as the luggage belt was not operating so the "clever" ground staff devised the most awkward 3-stage baggage handling process that inv... See more

Why have a Guest Compensation Policy if they are going to ignore it?
Our first flight was delayed because of quote 'maintenance issues'. Virgin rightfully rescheduled our connecting flight. Our rescheduled flight was 8 hours later and from a different airport 110km away. Virgin supplied us with a Cab Charge voucher but this did not cover the fare to the new departure location. We were not supplied with meal/refreshment vouchers nor given a Flight credit. Both of these compensations are outlined in their Guest Compensation Policy which they sent a link for to us at the time. We made a claim to at least redeme the extra we had to pay for the taxi and we were denied Compensation. Why have a policy if they are going to ignore it?
Homophobic airline
A gay flight attendant of the airline Virgin Australia had sex with another man in his hotel room, after work(!) - shortly afterwards he was dismissed.
Absolute sh1te
Absolute sh1te. Will never, ever fly with these pr!3ks again. 200 passengers and just two toilets?? The queue for the toilets stretched all the way down to seat row 15. Imagine being on the aisle seat on row 30 and you've constantly got someone's crotch or smelly rump in your face? Meanwhile in business and first (10 seats in total) they have two toilets between them which we were not allowed to use. They ran out of food on a six hour flight..!? I was only allowed to order one small bottle of wine! Staff - rude, opinionated and older than my grandmother. Departure gate changed at the last minute. Every gate, either boarding or disembarking, was the furthest away from the main terminal. Even had to catch a bus on the tarmac to the terminal. WiFi non-existant. You can purchase high-speed WiFi but that will cost an extra $10 per 30 mins. Yeah, Nah...... My money will never be going their way again.....
Two flights no respect for people travelling together
Two flights, travelling with my Partner. One ticket booked by work, one by personal payment. At the airport checkin we het seated together. At the hate they try to bump one of us because the flight is overbooked. Our tickets were bought a long time before the flight. Second flight they split us up at the gate.
One flight was late an hour, second flight was rushed thru and imperaonal
Watch out Virgin business class customers
Talk about a horrible hidden condition of carriage that is not evident when booking a VA business class flight.
I recently held a fully paid business class ticket and allocated seat 2F from Denpasar to Brisbane via Sydney. The flight was initially cancelled for an unspecified reason within 5 hours of the departure time and when I contacted the gust contact centre they couldn’t help me as they told me their system was down. Told to call back in an hour. I did so and in another half hour to be told same situation. When I asked what I should do I was given no advice. Then received an email advising flight number changed and flight would be leaving approx 2 hours after original departure time. On this email it stated I was in economy. Again contacted guest centre but unable to help.
At check in I was given seat 6C which was an economy seat. Tried to show the check in team my ticket but they wouldn’t look at it. They told me they had been told by VA I was an economy passenger. I argued this but nothing would change. I then found out there were 2 Economy X seats available. I did get one of those but not my booked business seat.
On the aircraft the cabin crew dismissed my issue.
On return home I wrote to Virgin and they told me that at anytime they can change a person’s seat. I understand this can happen for safety or operational reasons but another passenger was sitting in my seat so neither of those reasons applied.
The main issue is that passengers need to be aware that Virgin can just decide on a whim that a fully paid business class ticketed passenger can be placed in economy class without any comeback, discussion or consideration. All they gave me was 7,000 frequent flyer points.
So much for an Australian contract being fair for both parties. This is a one sided contract that the passenger has no control over. Virgin have been underhanded and misleading in what they sold me and have not taken responsibility for how they have treated a business passenger. It is the most disgusting form of unfair contract in Australia.
Poor form Virgin!
Virgin Australia my once favorite airline has now succumbed to the Nazi approach of Jetstars pathetic process hassles its passengers of the pointless process of weighing hand luggage! Oh please stop! It’s pathetic and and unbelievably unnecessary activity by rude and dystopian minded staff who quite frankly belong in a job in a prison
We are not morons so please stop treating us this way!
Disappointed with the High Costs and Lack of Consideration
I recently had the unfortunate experience of booking a flight to the Gold Coast, and I must say, I’m incredibly disappointed with the overall cost and service. It’s so disappointing that during public holidays, when most of us finally get some time off to visit our families, the prices skyrocket to unreasonable levels. I ended up paying nearly $800 for a return flight from Sydney a cost that’s simply unjustifiable for a domestic trip.
On top of that, I was shocked to find that even selecting a seat in economy class now comes with an additional charge. I was asked to pay $69+ just to choose where I want to sit. I don’t even have words for this, especially when flights are already so expensive.
I understand that airlines need to make a profit, but there should be a balance between business and customer satisfaction. It’s frustrating that hardworking people who save up for these rare opportunities to travel and spend time with loved ones are hit with such steep prices. I hope the airline reconsiders its pricing strategies, particularly during peak travel periods when people just want to reconnect with their families.
Disappointing Experience: Incompetent Handling of Rebooking for Disabled Passenger
I am deeply disappointed with the handling of my rebooking request by Virgin Australia following Rex's announcement of voluntary administration. The experience was marked by incompetence and a lack of empathy, causing significant stress for my legally blind client.
Despite submitting the rebooking form promptly on 31st July, I received no confirmation or follow-up. My attempt to email necessary documents for my client's seeing-eye dog was met with a full inbox, and I had to follow up multiple times without adequate support.
When I finally spoke to Susan on the special assistance line, her responses were unhelpful and indifferent. She did not bother to check our bookings or show any concern for my client's specific needs. Even though we eventually rebooked the flights, the process was far from satisfactory. Susan asked unnecessary questions and made unhelpful comments, delaying the process further.
My legally blind client deserves better care and consideration. This experience has caused undue stress and anxiety for both of us. I demand immediate action to rectify this situation, including a formal apology and assurance that future travel arrangements for disabled passengers will be handled with the necessary priority and care.
Virgin Australia needs to significantly improve their customer service practices, particularly for passengers with disabilities. The current level of support is unacceptable and deeply frustrating.
I am utterly disgusted by the lack of support and empathy shown by Virgin Australia and would not recommend their services to anyone, especially those with special needs.
Wish I could give them ZERO stars!!
Wish I could give them ZERO stars!!! meeting my daughter in Sydney to fly to the US to visit some colleges. Well as usual Virgin are unreliable and she would miss her connecting flight. Without asking her or me who is on the ticket as organiser they just put her on a flight to Melbourne then US alone. She’ll be ok, but it is her first time flying more than a few hours alone and has had anxiety issues flying before. The guy from Canberra airport was useless and could just keep repeating how she’s over 15 years old so they can do that. Well Virgin Australia if my daughter has one moment of angst or anxiousness related to this….you will hear from my lawyer and you will not be so dismissive!!! Worst airline in Australia by FAR!!!
Baggage delays
Recent return flight to Melb airport, my baggage took over 50 mins to come out.
There is no one that can help, staff just stand around and advise to wait at the carousel until your bag comes out.
Virgin baggage handlers are rough, we are told by ground staff that Virgin Airlines have not employed enough baggage handlers.
Virgin Australia ,they destroyed my luggage
Virgin Australia ,they destroyed my luggage and they don't want to recognize or compensate me. In the same flight, another passenger found the luggage destroyed and also no compensation. It's not a serious company as claimed. I made a written complaint but I ask The original receipt since I bought the luggage plus an accredited witness. I am totally disappointed and I will never use their services again.
Just awful
Just awful. Guaranteed delays every single time. Sometimes, leaving passengers stranded for many hours. I fly frequently for work, and they make the process extremely painful.
Very poor airline
Very poor airline. Due to their incompetence of not being able to check in people on time they cause major delays and this delay was passed on to customers and subsequence flights. Resulting in financial implications.
What a low level customer service…
What a low level customer service airline.
Travelling on business and decided to take my wife. My ticket booked through large corporate entity and my wife privately.
Rang Virgon advised them we are travelling together. Could not book seats together due to indepandant bookings.
Customer service said she had alerted the fact we wanted to sit together.
Got to airport check and told nope cannot sit together and given separate seats.
No attempt to resolve.
We rude and abrupt check in lady.
Told us we should arranged it before hand and bought seats.
No point trying to keep explaining, she wasn't interest and indifferent.
Won't fly them again.
Poor Customer Service
Very poor customer service when speaking on the phone, had to call back multiple times. Last lady named Jean from the reservations team on the phone was extremely rude, cut me off when I was trying to explain something to her. She also had a very unprofessional and aggressive tone. Very disappointed in their service.
This company is beyond improvement.
This company is beyond improvement. Staff are unhelpful and rude, shut the gate before an agreed time to return with a misplaced boarding pass. Baggage was already thrown off the plane. Extremely stressful experience, customer service at its worst. How can these people be still in business? "What is the one star for?", one might ask, and they would not be wrong.
Worst Customer Service Experience
I would like let the people know that Virgin Australia particularly Melbourne is the worst to deal with.
Their so called Manager of the Airlines does not even have a proper explanation.
Be careful if you are a family and planning to take one large bag over 23kg (They don’t accept it all like other airlines where you can carry more).
Never playing with with them again 😢😢 Melbourne to Perth experience 😡
Don’t cancel me off my flight
Don’t cancel me off my flight. The flight was not cancelled, my ticket was. Don’t give me a seat where I can’t stow my bag anywhere nearby so that I need to swim against the tide up the aisle to get it once we land. Oh. And don’t charge me extra to change my flight. I got Covid so I couldn’t fly.
800AUD for Name correction
Me and my Friend booked a trip through Expedia and it includes travel from Colombo to Sydney by Sri Lankan Airlines and Sydney to Brisbane by Virgin Airline then come back after 2 weeks. First part of my journey went ok but when we are returning, Virgin claims that our booking names are not matching with our passports, so that they can't board us to the flight from Brisbane. I was wondered why this issue not raised by them in the first trip to Brisbane from Sydney and also Sri Lankan airlines didn't have any issues with that. Anyway, they kept making arguments and drag this conversation to the point that we may be unable to board that flight before the check-in closing time. Since we already checked in online the second part of our trip with Sri Lankan airlines, we were in a position where we can't afford to miss this flight. So, we had to re book same flight by paying additional 800+ AUD. So, in summary we had to pay 800+AUD just to correct our names in the booking. So please be aware of this situation if you are ever planning to fly with Virgin Australia.
