Absolutely diabolical company. Business had no 5G WiFi. Engineer arrived 4 months ago to replace the modem, disconnected the network cables from the back and did not mark them, hence it took us hours to id the cables he removed. Our network has a vpn and uses a specific up address. He powered up the router and changed all the computer up addresses in the offices. He also found there was a fault on the line. He moved our cable in the green cabinet outside and said it was fixed. Within hours the network was dropping to less than 0.25 of a meg. I called the engineer back and he said he would report it to his line manager. 4 months later and lots of dropping out, we called customer services, a visit was booked for Saturday 19/10/24 between 8-12. If we missed this appointment a £25.00 level would be put on our bill. The engineer did not show, but said he did. Ahh we have CCTV monitoring our door. He definitely did not come. Reported this on Monday morning. Another appointment booked for Tuesday. Tried in vain to get a customer complaint number from the customer services, first agent hung up the call. Second agent said he could not find our account, then he did after I gave the account number. He asked when the last bill date was for security. I gave this and he said it had failed and he could not speak to me. I told him I had the last invoice in front of me. He just wanted to get me off the phone. Customer services based in the Philippines with poor quality phone lines and even poorer agents. Hence DIABOLICAL.
out of contract but forced to stay another 90 days.
if im out of contract shouldnt the contract be void
They deserve any stars tbh.
I've called to make a payment for an over due balance as I was not ball to log into my account. Tried to reset the password yet the email never came through. So I had no choice but to call. Apparently the person could hear everything I had to day until it came to taking my payment info, then she couldn't hear a thing. In the end she hung up on me. I called again and was able to make payment. She said her computer would not allow her to set up a direct debit and told me she would transfer me to someone else, and I wouldn't need to answer security questions as I had just done so with her. The security questions made no sense, i was asked when my next bill would be due, i just explained i had paid a previous bill pluss upcoming bill, meaning the next bill would be november, this wasnt good enough, and so i failed and she refused to set up the dorect debit. Because clearly in 2024 people are queing up to pay other peoples internet bills.
This service is behind a joke, I never miss a payment, but the amount of text messages, emails and calls anyone would think I never pay this crappy bill.
I might add the person said she was transferring me to customer services yet she transferred me to someonenelse in her team, who sounded a little too smug.
This says to me it was intentional, they are aware they are not being monitored and take the mic when they can. This is evident from the lack of responses on this site alone.
Should he ashamed of themselves.
Internet has been down for over 30 years. We have lost hundreds of pounds in the past 2 business days as our business relies on the internet to run properly. This happens at least once a month especially when it rains but virgin seem to like temporary fixes rather than fixing the actual problem. Customer service is as useless as ever. Companies like this should be banned from trading.
Terrible Experience with Virgin Media Business Installation
I recently upgraded to Virgin Media Business and had one of the worst experiences with their service. They sent a junior engineer who had no prior experience installing business internet plans, and as a result, the installation was done incorrectly. The engineer left, and when I realized the issue, I had to contact Virgin Media again.
To my surprise, they admitted that the engineer wasn’t qualified for the job and now I'm expected to wait three days over the weekend without internet until a proper engineer can be sent out. This is completely unacceptable, especially since reliable internet is critical for my work.
Virgin Media clearly lacks proper training for their engineers, and their customer support didn’t offer any solution besides "waiting." I won’t be recommending their business services to anyone—this has been a massive inconvenience and a clear example of poor service.
If there is anything below 1 star I would give it here.
Absolutely the worst customer service on the planet. I would rather go with a smaller firm that has a team based in the UK rather than have a heart a trying to get through to them.
In the process of trying to resolve a billing issue as a new customer. They messed up the set up of my new accounts when switching from residential to business broadband. They didn’t add the first 3 months free offer and have invoiced me for the first two months wifi on both accounts (why 2 months?!). Trying to sort over email (abroad for work so can’t call) and it is a nightmare. Say they will credit my account but I can’t get the money back until my contract ends in two years. I’m hoping this is just poor sentence construction because English isn’t their first language, but now reading the other reviews maybe not and they are just going to be this awful. Frustrated beyond belief.
Updated to add: On 8 July 2026 Virgin media has now been fined £28 million by Ofcom for the issues myself and others have left poor reviews about making it "unreasonably difficult" to cancel contracts.
It shouldn't have to be done but if you are a small business have a problem complain, get dated proof of the complaint and don't be afraid to escalate.
As a condition of my current employment I am not allowed to be an officer of a company that is competitor and as such after being a Virgin Media Business Broadband customer since 2007 I had to end the business account in a company name with them.
On 6 September 2024 I discovered that I had to complete an online form to cancel broadband services. I did so and a received an email acknowledgement on 9 September for cancelling my account. Later that morning I realised I missed a call from Virgin Media.
At 16:30 on 9 September 2024 I rang Customer Services back but when I stated to the customer service assistant I wanted to cancel the broadband service in my company name she put the phone down on me.
At 16:42 on the same day I rang Customer Services again. I told the customer service assistant that if she put the phone down on me like her colleague I would be writing a formal complaint. After explaining why I was closing the account she told me that I needed to give them 3 months notice. I stated this was not correct as the last agreement the business had with them stated 30 days notice. She then went to speak to her supervisor and said since the business's current account with them started before 2015 it was 30 days notice. So from 9 October 2024 they would no longer be providing their Business Broadband service to my address. She then stated that after paying the bill for September 2024 the business did not need to pay any more bills and as the equipment on the premises from them was old the business did not need to return it to them. (I had been using their modem router in modem mode due to the poor signal.)
On 3 October 2024 the Business Broadband Service with Virgin Media at the premises ceased. I am physically unable to connect to their Business Broadband Service.
At 11:00am today, 5 October 2024, I received an email with a bill attached to it. I went into the online billing account through myBill and discovered that the business account had not been cancelled. Instead the business had been billed for the full month of October to November 2024. As it is Saturday customer services is not open so I have had to put in a written complaint to ask why the business account is still open with some of the information I have provided here.
I have also left this review to show other customers how poor Virgin Media Business Customer Services is and Virgin Media Customer Services is in general. I know from the technician I talked to on 3 October 2024 that Business Customer Services does not talk to Residential Customer Services nor do the staff communicate with one another properly.
I should also add in a couple of months the business will no longer exist however due to the work I do I cannot leave debts attached to any of the company officers names. (Luckily due to starting the business account with them before 2015 I pay by standing order with no additional charges and the standing order was cancelled after the last payment agreed with the customer services assistant was sent.)
Plus in 2020 just before the Covid lockdowns I got a ruling from the Ombudsman that Virgin Media Business had treated the business unfairly on how they started charging for paper bills as they did not give any notice that they would be doing so before they started charging. This is because Virgin Media Business did not have my contact details attached to the business account. I know this because when I rang them up their referred to me by someone else's name and with their business address. The reason I went to the Ombudsman was due to this and the fact that the customer service assistants accused me of being a liar when I pointed out they had not given the business notice. What I did was go to OFCOM's website and complete a monitoring form. I then sent a letter to Virgin Media with the title "Formal Complaint" and got a proof of delivery of sending it. Then after 8 weeks I took them to the Ombudsman.
Update: After sending an email to disconnection services and a registered delivery letter on 7 October that was tracked to them receiving it on 8 October, on 10 October I received an updated bill. This bill correctly showed the account as closed.
The worst company ever, horrible service.
They can not accommodate switch from business broadband to family broadband.
Never mentioned VAT, ignoring complaints, never issued refunds for hours when broadband was not available, staff is useless.
Extortionate prices, abysmal customer support, intermittent connexion affecting my business with thousands of pounds lost. AVOID AT ALL COST.
It has been over a year since we cancelled our service provider Virgin Business for broadband and telephone. Virgin continued to help themselves to the direct debit payments despite not providing any services ! I have been asking for a refund , but as yet nothing!! On each contact “ security “ questions get bizarre . Latest one was what was the cost of your installation at the start of your contract [ 6 or 8 years ago !! ]. Today I finally got through but was transferred to another dept, taken through “ security” asked to hold on whilst they “ investigated” my request for a refund, then just cut off. No attempt made to call me back . What sort of company thinks this is acceptable behaviour ??
It’s very simple what I am asking for : I have been overcharged , the company has acknowledged this , but has prevaricated endlessly to actually refund any money. I would urge everyone to avoid the company based on my experience.
Apparently I am not the one person giving such a poor review. This company seems to have a one star rating in some 90% of reviews ?
Wow what can I say need a 0 star option!! Had virgin installed today, as soon as engineer left no Internet, 55mins to get through to someone, who said it needs to stabilise, so can't open tonight as no card machines and no tills! Totally shocking service and will be cancelling contract in morning.
Stay away.
Terrible company.
I called them to cancel my account since other providers offer better customer service and substantial discounts.
They convinced me to stay in exchange of a 30% discount which they never applied
An absolute nightmare company, today I eventually managed to cancel my late father in-laws account and then they wanted to charge me another £700 odd , for the remainder of the contract that I've being trying to sort out since June.
Absolutely shocking organisation. Zero customer service and total disregard for us a customer, lies, deceit, poor training, mistakes made and covering us the mistake with lies, passing the book to different departments. I have dealt with Fault management, Order Management, the account has been with the 'On Shore Team', the it team. 7 engineers came out last one finally had the ability resolve the issue. Complaint emails go ignored. So it going to be assed to the communications ombudsman.
My advise - Protect your business and Stay Away
We have been with VMBusiness for many years and yesterday we rang to cancel our broadband as we were retiring. We were told that we had to give 90 days notice, what a rip off. When we signed up there was no mention of this.
The broadband usually drops once or twice a month. I would never recommend them to anyone.
Absolutely useless organisation. We are an IT business and our fibre has been down 2 days with no communication. Overseas call centre.... may as well talk to the wall! Looking at the reviews they clearly don't give a damn as nothing improves.
As with Virgin Media easy to sign up to their services, appalling customer service when there’s an issue and impossible to leave.
To leave their only process is an online form. They phone within hours to offer you new services but then ignore the leave request forever and just keep billing you.
Their sister company owe me over £200 for the same couldn’t leave issue so I’ve just cancelled the direct debit with VGM. I look forward to the continued bills and threats to pay.
What does OFCOM actually do regarding real life consumer experiences with companies that they are meant to regulate.
If the was a O stars I would have given them 0, oviusly looking at the horrific reviews here is pointless for me to write another review but I’m so p off that I will .
Terrible service and customer service
I’m so angry and unhappy with the service I have been getting from virgin.
Pay over £100 a month for my business broadband. The service in general is poor the customer service it’s becoming so bad I’m now looking to move providers.
They cut my broadband as they say I have two accounts they agreed last week is their own mistake today it’s back to the same conversation and pointless conversation, so left with out internet my business CC the computer appointment my clients wifi nothing is on so I lost money and running my business without internet in till they manage to connect me again.
I have two different business on virgin fibre and I would not be recommending them again. Ombudsman be the next step. As I just seen above their reviews are so but I wish I seen this before.😡
PLEASE DONT BOTHER TO SEND ME A COPY OF THE SAME REPLY FROM VIRGIN TO MOST BAD REVIEWS. Shame on you
I have a mental health disability and came to the conclusion self-employment was the way forward. I settled on setting up an isp in my local area as open reach are not scheduled to bring fttp here until 2026 or later, no confirmation yet.
There are a number of funding options open to me, but it is critical that I draw up a business plan, to make applications for funding.
Part of this includes the mission critical costs, namely the backbone connection for my clients.
I reached out to virgin media via the web chat which was awkward as my disability precludes phone calls, but the leased line sales team don't use the same software used by other departments of virgin media business, go figure, I asked if they had an email address I could use to contact them, I was told no. Now when a company says they don't have an email address, especially one that claims to be a commercial internet service provider, it invokes, well, the image of a frustrated gorilla with an iPad. Eventually the web chat agent agreed to ask that department to email me directly, so they do have email? They didn't a minute back!
I am eventually contacted, and I explain that I need the pricing to my address for 500mb - 1.5gb in 100mb increments. Can I afford a faster connection from the off, or would I need to upgrade my speed over time as my client base grew?
I am then ignored for a number of days, and after a prompt from myself, I am asked to supply my company name, and registration number. After explaining that I have a potential name, but the company isn't formed yet, it is explained to me that without these things they cannot and will not quote me.
So apparently to start my business I need to start a business that I currently don't understand the costs for, just to satisfy a company that has the most unbelievably counter intuitive policy when it comes to start-up business.
Having read through the other reviews on here, I hope that others see this and the others before committing to anything with virgin media business!! I've seemingly dodged a bullet here, and I hope if you are reading this you do too!
As a result of this regardless of my now less than enthusiastic motivation to become a customer, I will be seeking some answers from my local MSP about how this policy of virgin media business helps the connectivity goals set by the Scottish government. And I will be passing my experience on to the EHRC regarding the challenges I faced reaching the appropriate department.
