Outstanding service! Excellent wines. And, amazing staff. Hands down, the best place to buy your wine.

Disorganized, huge waste of time trying to get reward miles for signing up

Signed up as part of a deal to get airline miles. Airline miles never showed up, and I called about 4 or 5 different times trying to figure out why. At first they said they needed more time, then they told me they didn't have my Virgin America number. I supplied my Virgin America number on three different occasions over the phone and each time they told me they had never received it.

Hoping this time it works, but still a huge waste of time.

Still awaiting delivery

On 24/11 I ordered a bottle champagne with 2 glasses as a 21st present. The birthday wasn't until Dec 4th, I thought it was going to be a bit early but I didn't want to forget it.
The first error was on my part. Innitially I put the incorrect post code on the delivery address. I immediately sent an email informing them and was sent a rapid response telling me the address had been changed. A couple of days later I was surprised that I had not received any thanks for the gift but unduly concerned.
On the 27th I got an email from virgin stating my gift had been misrouted - still a few days until the birthday not too worried.
On the 30th I was told delivery had been requested for tomorrow.

BIRTHDAY

Dec 5th - delivery cancelled and returned to base
Dec 5th- reordered by virgin
Yesterday - delivery did not go out!

……… still not delivered.

Customer service personnel have been very nice but clearly not very effective. What is going wrong?

Horrible: SCAM

They are a deceitful and unprofessional company. I ordered a case of wine through their promotion only to get a case I did not order and of mediocre quality. One month later, they renewed my order without my permission, something I discovered from my bank statement. When I called them, the man insisted I placed the order. I had to convince him that was not the case and he finally deleted this order. Two days letter, I receive an email stating the order has shipped. When I call again, the lady tells me to return the delivery. When I tell her I it's my responsibility to do their business, she tells me to just not accept the delivery, "pretend I'm not home" so they case can be returned.
This is such a SCAM-y way to operate. Shame on Virgin Wines and on Richard Branson.

Hi Christina,

Thank you for getting in touch and please accept my apologies for any problems that you encountered.

It sounds as though you may have inadvertently joined one of our wine clubs by taking out a discounted introductory deal. So i apologise if you were not aware of this and as a result the latest order came as a surprise. We pop the details on any vouchers used, on the website when you order and in an email before any future cases are shipped to you. A lot of our customers find this to be a convenient way of buying wine, but we certainly appreciate that it's not for everyone.

If an order has already been shipped, then you can refuse delivery which will automatically return the shipment to us. Alternatively if it is left, we can arrange for our courier to return on another day to collect the wine. You are always free to cancel your account at any point and receive a refund for any wines that you have returned. I apologise for any confusion that has been caused by not being aware of the club membership terms and conditions and I'm confident our team will ensure the case returns and the refund is processed as quickly as possible.

Why do people only leave bad reviews?

I've been using Virgin wines for over a year and have had a great experience so far. If you don't like a wine, they'll replace it. If you review a wine then you get a free bottle added to your next order. Measure them against supermarkets and there's some great wines at reasonable prices, there's a few I wouldn't order again but I could say the same about some of my choices from sainsburys, waitrose etc.
I joined the wine bank because of the initial offer, as I'm sure lots of people do. But read the small print, you'll get future orders if you don't take action, it's in the terms & conditions. Don't complain if you haven't done your homework! It's a good proposition and they haven't put a foot wrong for me.

Deceiving company!

Order my first promotional case as It included 2000 Virgin America bonus point. Months go by and not a single point was granted to my account. When I called I was told by a very rude costumer service agent that " I am asking for something for free" as according to him the promotional points are given only after a costumer purchase a SECOND CASE.

What a joke!!!

Absolutely awful service

I ordered a 12 bottle case of wine under offer with 40% discount and with two free bottles included priced at 109.99 and instead they sent me a different case with a tiny discount and no free bottles priced at 89.99. When I let them know they indicated that I needed to be home between 9-5 for their delivery drive to collect it. I said I couldn't as I worked and could they replace in the evening or on a saturday. They said could I leave it with a neighbour but that they couldn't give a time and the neighbour would need to wait in all day. After a lot of emails back and forth I said just leave it and refund me the difference. They said that based on me preferring to keep the existing case they would refund the difference. I replied about how patronising they were about 'me preferring to keep the existing case' honestly whole process is awful - they get it wrong and make it your problem to sort it out. Don't bother using them - absolutely awful process and service.

Hi Marc,

Please accept my apologies for all the problems you have experienced with this order. Unfortunately our courier do not allow us to offer collections for time specific slots or at the weekend, and we understand how frustrating this can be. We do say that if the wine can be left in a secure location, we can have our courier collect from there, so you don't have to wait in all day. The service you have received has not been the service we would expect and I can't apologise enough that our comments to you came across in a patronising manner, I can assure you this was not our intention and the phrasing was extremely poor. Can you please send all your details to reviews@virginwines.co.uk so we can look into this for you.

PUEK

I never use the OMG, but these are OMG making me sick. I would not give this as a gift to people I don't like. Its the worst wine I have ever had. BOOO. I had the case delivered and tried 4 different bottles. I thought oh well maybe the last one was just a bad batch/bottle. Each one got worse, terrible, terrible, terrible. Shame on you Virgin Wines, I thought it would be as good as the air travel. Not even close. This case goes down, jump.

Hi Rick,

I'm really sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the wines you received in your latest case. We certainly never like to hear that. If you pop an email to reviews@virginwines.co.uk we'll ensure that we refund you for the bottles you did not enjoy and collect any duplicates for a refund too. We certainly wouldn't want you paying for wines that you don't enjoy, which is why we have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Once again I'm sorry to hear that the wines were not enjoyed, but I'm sure we can sort this all out for you.

Many Thanks,
Virgin Wines

Terrible customer service - Do not do business with Virgin Wines

They sent me a case that I did not want nor order. I called and was told that they would send me a return label to ship the case back. I have had to call them 4 times over the past 2 weeks and still have not received my shipping label. Now, I have to get my bank involved to dispute the charge since Virgin Wines has not sent me the return label. Very bad company to do business with.

Good value for wines I'd never be able to try

Been with Virgin Wines for over a year and love it! I get to try good wine I'd never find in my area for a reasonable price. Had excellent customer service with the one issue I had. If you get a bottle you do not like, they'll give you credit toward your next order. Don't understand the negative reviews.

DO NOT PLACE AN ORDER WITH THIS COMPANY

After placing a one time order for a case of wine, the company started me with a membership. Though there was never an initiation email sent, they took the liberty of ordering a case of wine to my old address and charging my card on file. The charge was three times higher than the only order I ever placed, and they did not even verify my shipping address or credit card details. I have moved since the initial order was placed.
They are less than helpful in canceling the shipment, and have advised me to do it all via FedEx. It should not be my responsibility. They refuse to process the request for refund until the case is back in their possession. The refund takes another 7-10 days, so I believe they should be far more proactive, and take care of it immediately in good faith. Especially since they have the cancellation details provided by FedEx. Companies like this shouldn't last long, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to NEVER do business with them.

One star is too high for this company

I would like to give the company the benefit of the doubt but really don't know how. This company is god awful. Consider the following events.
1. Site says delivery week of Jan 19th
2. Later it just changes to week of Jan 26th (without any email notice)
3. When I called a week later, customer service said they had shipped the order. When I spoke to the supervisor, they said they ran out of wine but that it would 100% be sent out that day.
4. I called 3 days later for the tracking number. Box still not shipped becaues the computers were not working but would investigate and call me back in 2-3 hours. No phone call back (of course not!)
5. Called again and spoke to a supervisor and asked to speak to her boss. She said "My boss doesn't talk to customers." In a customer-centric world, not sure that's the best answer. She had no issue with me canceling. She simply couldn't care less
6. Spoke to supervisor the following day (different one) who said he would email me later (of course no email received). I would have cancelled a long time ago but will do so today. Not sure why I was so patient with the absolute worst company I have ever seen.
Conclusion: 1 star is too high and spend your $150 / month on getting good wine AND great service

Poor customer service.

I ordered a case of wine on November 8th and never received the wine or any communtication about my wine until today Decemeber 29th. Evidently the wine shipment was damaged by the shipper but I was never informed until almost 2 months later! I was planning on giving the wine as a Christmas present but that's hard to do when it never arrives and Virgin doesn't contact you. I understand that the shipper caused the damage but Virgin totally dropped the ball on the customer service side. I have used wine clubs before with zero problems. It is actually pretty funny. Customer service called me today to ask if I had enjoyed the wine. You think they would have looked at their computer screen and noticed that I never got the wine before calling! It felt like the customer service rep was completely apathetic to the situation. 0 of 5 stars for poor customer service.

HORRIBLE STAY AWAY

I ordered and was enrolled in their service, no problem. Then I tried to buy wine. Their online system did not have the same wines as their catalog. "Order a case for $99 with any other 12 bottle purchase"- did not work. I tried twice and even called them. They told me "the online orders do not show up in their system "right away" but they could fix it if I called back in a few hours". Called back and they told me too bad- too late!!! Sent the wine- a gift- with none of the gift messages so my parents almost sent back. Then they sent MY wine, the club one I had enrolled in- to my parents (!!!). They are in a retirement home and in their 80"s and on the other side of the country so its a HUGE inconvenience. Every time I call and complain they are like "Too bad". Even tried ONE MORE TIME and still could not order the wine. They are liars and their customer service is HORRENDOUS. STAY AWAY!!

Years of Satisfaction

I have been with Virgin Wines for more years than I can recall. I am a member of their wine bank and have a personal wine merchant. They deliver on time, refund if you do not like the wine and no questions asked. My wine merchant is ever so personable and does not hassle; if he has an offer he phones me up otherwise no. The wine bank is one of the best schemes going and they have some great tastings and wines. Not sure what the problem is with everyone else but it works for me.

Nuisance telemarketing

Just cancelled my account. Received one case reasonably priced, decent wine, but delivered later than expected and customer service failed to keep me posted. Would've kept the account open but after asking them to stop making telemarketing calls, the calls kept coming. This outfit shames the Virgin brand.

Bad customer service, lied to me about canceling my order, misleading offer-- a SCAM!

When I was given a Virgin Wines coupon from a friend, who had tried the offer and received 15 bottle of great wine for $89.99 including shipping. I was excited to try it out. Both my friend and I (after carefully reading both the coupon and the Virgin Wines website) understood that we were signing up for a one-time deal, not a "club." Now, three months later, I've been charged $159.99 by Virgin Wines. When I called to ask them to reverse the charges (I have not received any wine yet) and told them I wasn't aware I was joining a club, the woman on the phone kept saying "Yes you did. It says it in the fine print on the back of the coupon. You knew." It was strange and offensive that she kept telling me I did know it was a club, as if I were lying to her, when I truly did not know this. She also told me that I "obviously knew it was a club" because I've been a member of another wine club that they own. Since she didn't tell me what club she was referring to I can only conclude that she means either Vinesse or Zagat wines, both of which I was aware were clubs, but cancelled after a few shipments because I didn't want to continue to receive more wine than I needed and I had recently become a member at two local wineries, whose wine I preferred. It wasn't a matter of just wanting to get out of a club, it was a matter of preferring the wine from the local wineries so exercising my right to cancel these previous clubs- which, unlike Virgin, I was aware that I had signed up for a "membership" with and had been told I could cancel at any time. I had a problem with Vinesse- they continued to charge me for a few months and I was ultimately not refunded for all of the unauthorized charges. I find it rude and offensive that the customer service representative from Virgin assumed I would know I was joining a club with Virgin simply because I had at one point been a member of another wine club that I had no idea was connected to them. I also am offended by her implication that I was somehow abusing the system because I had been a wine club member elsewhere and cancelled after 2-3 shipments. I am quite certain I have every right to do so. I cannot find any information online stating that either of these companies are related to Virgin, so I am still confused by her claims that I should have known.
She also claimed that Virgin had emailed me to let me know that I had joined a club (I received no such email), and that I was getting another shipment and would be charged today (again, no such email). I searched through my trash and spam mailboxes before calling, and I have Gmail so no email is ever permanently deleted. No such emails from Virgin Wines. She acted very defensive and very rudely said "It went to your spam, I cancelled your membership and refunded you" and ended the call abruptly, acting very irritated with me. I called back later to ask for a confirmation email and the second person I talked to told me that the woman I had initially spoken to had not cancelled my membership or refunded the charges. So she had lied to me. Thank goodness I called back rather than just waiting for it to happen. Overall it was a very unsatisfactory customer service experience. It is a shame because the wine was great! In fact, the wine itself was the only good thing about the whole experience. This company should be transparent about what their customers are signing up for and DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY WILL DO! This is such a horrible way to ruin what could be a good thing. Horrible customer service and marketing that involves scamming and obscuring the truth is just BAD BUSINESS. I'll be watching for my refund and will definitely update if I am not refunded promptly. Sadly, I won't be purchasing wine from this company again nor will I refer them to my friends, simply because of the way they obscure the truth about what their customers are agreeing to, and because of the very bad experience I had with their customer service representative.

Customer Service????

I used a coupon to sign up it was $69 for 15 bottles of wine which I thought was a great deal. I ordered a box of mixed wines since I prefer whites and my husband prefers reds, I looked at the selection and liked the sample selection of what they could send me of 6 whites and 9 reds (3 of the bottles of red were a special that was included for free or something so that was no big deal since without them it would be half and half selection).
Shipping and handling was about $15, and I received the wines pretty quickly which was nice. There were a total of 4 bottles of white wine to 11 bottles of red.... Please tell me how that is MIXED, the sample selection showed 6 bottles of white. I expect half and half or at least the same as the sample selection amounts. Of course the site clearly states you can not pick and choose its their selection of "whats available". Well thanks but no thanks, out of the 4 white wines 2 were a pinot grigio, which was not good tasting, everyone has their own taste buds and likes different wines but both my husband and I agreed we did not like the wine.
On the website Virgin Wines states its 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I have emailed twice over the last month with no return contact about the wine I didnt like, I want to send back the one bottle and get reimbursed for whatever I can or have them send me new wine.... ANYTHING... but I can not even get an email back. I check my junk email folder daily to see if it went in there, nothing.
I agree with others, this is a scam. The coupons are a scam to get people to sign up for something that isnt what it appears. Thanks but I will take my business elsewhere. I prefer to handpick my wines, so I guess I will stick with the more expensive liquor store prices or go to the wineries myself and pay for the real deal.

Virgin Wines is indeed a scam.

I called Virgin Wines three times after I placed one order.
1st:
I asked to cancel all the orders right after I placed it. The customer service told me all my orders had been cancelled and promised me I will receive the cancellation e-mail in 48 hours.
2nd:
After two days, I called Virgin Wines again since I had not received the cancellation e-mail. The customer service told me this order has been processed so it cannot be cancelled. They only cancelled the future orders at last time I called. They told me they will send me a shipment confirmation e-mail with FedEx tracking number. Virgin Wines even told me I can call FedEx to refuse the on-the-way package by the tracking number.
3rd:
After two days, I called Virgin Wines again since I had not received the tracking number. The customer service told me Virgin Wines does not have the tracking numbers for their customers to track the orders. She told me the order has been shipped through FedEx; and I have to obtain this tracking number through FedEx. There is no way Virgin Wines would know the tracking number of their shipped product since it is the responsibility of FedEx. This madam also told me she is not the ladies I talked before so she does not know what they promised me. I asked to speak to her manager, and she hung me up.
I called FedEx. FedEx told me there is no package coming to my address through them.

Total Scam

Read the reviews, this company is a total scam. I live in Napa Valley and decided to give them a try via the promo. offer. The wines were terrible; I could have gotten better quality at the gas station. Then, I was charged $180 on my credit card a few months later, with NO prior notification. When I called, they rudely admitted that they had inputted my information wrong, and that it was their fault for me not being notified. No reparation was made, and I had to contact them multiple times to assure that my account was canceled despite numerous promises that I’d receive a “cancellation confirmation” notification. Don’t even do the promo. offer, it’s NOT worth it!! These guys are con-artists and I’m so worried what they might do with my credit card information.
