Looking for an Optometrist - PLEASE READ THIS NOW!
With so many optometrists located in Brentwood, there is absolutely NO reason to go here unless you are looking for an Optometrist to insult you and then try to sell you prescriptions YOU DO NOT NEED!
Please, please take know this- I never spend time writing reviews but this review is one I absolutely had to share with everyone in hopes that it will prevent at least one person from making the mistake I made by entrusting this Optometrist. Since when did Medical Professionals of any kind, start acting like sales people- only caring about how much they could make and NOT about a person’s health! Here is my story……
I started having problems reading very fine print (due to the many several hours spent on various screens and other devices). Eventually, this took a toll on my vision, making it difficult to see super small print. I hated the way I looked in glasses, so I decided to get LASIK. It was AWESOME! BUT, unfortunately, I was told that it probably wouldn’t last very long as I’d hoped So, I wasn't entirely shocked when I started experiencing a tiny change in my vision (again, finding it difficult to see very small print - like that found on a Rx bottle) I made an appointment to see Dr. Winson Ong at VisionOptix in Brentwood, CA.
I had a complete eye exam (so I thought it was supposed to be) but the exam lasted a very SHORT time when compared to the many other exams I’d had in the past with various Optometrists from other offices, not associated with this place. After the very brief exam was performed by the assistant, I then was examined by Dr. Ong. It was during this time that I had asked some basic questions regarding my vision and at which time he insulted my intelligence by blaming the cause on AGE! First of all, this guy was not too bright and rather than be honest he blamed my vision on getting older. This was a load of crap especially since we all know that children can have bad vision and therefore, blaming it on AGE was simply a stupid answer that only fueled my anger more when he did it again in response to my second question. Clearly he did NOT have the experience or even the knowledge to address any of my concerns or questions. If you’re thinking that this is what caused me to write a bad review, guess again. There’s more to this horrible experience……
When I was ready to check out, the billing representative handed me the final invoice for my visit along with, NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE, PRESCRPTIONS for Glasses!!!
NOW, if you’re wondering why someone who went to an Optometrist because they were having trouble reading very small print, is now receiving 3 Rx’s, you can only imagine how surprised I was! Don't forget, I had LASIK < 3 years prior to this appointment. What in the world was this guy thinking!
Here’s where I decided it was imperative I write a review to warn anyone who’ll listen. I was told the 1st Rx was for Distance; the 2nd Rx was for Reading and the 3rd Rx was for…….. get this…… a Rx for glasses to be worn when I use my Mobile phone!!!! THREE PRESCRIPTIONS FOR A PERSON WHO WENT IN FOR A YEARLY EXAM BECAUSE THEY HAD SOME TROUBLE READING VERY SMALL PRINT!!!
I was SO angry that I did my own investigation as it related to the inappropriate comments referring to my “AGE.” I decided to have another exam only this time use a different name, with no insurance, and pay cash. I lied about my age as I looked young enough to pass for someone in their 30’s (but who is actually in their early 50’s). The results were the same. But this time, the answer did not have anything to do with AGE!
Do what you will with this information. I have NO reason to retaliate against Vision Optix and nothing to gain by doing so. Simply put, I do NOT want anyone to get scammed by this quack of a so-called Doctor. If I had been someone who was gullible and assumed that no Doctor would ever prescribe something that wasn’t needed, I would have spent hundreds of dollars on glasses and be carrying around 3 pair, changing them for every move made. There’s too much competition for an Optometrist, in Brentwood. Turn around and go elsewhere. You’ll be much happier and better served! And a suggestion to any Medical Professional - If you want to be a salesperson, quit your job NOW and go sell something!! You’re in the wrong field…..
