This is not legit

This is not legit. I was contacted by Dylan for a video job that i completed. I’ve heard nothing since despite emailing him directly several times and the customer services email. Stay away. Waste of time and they clearly just want to use your voice and image to rip you off. Disgusting.

Frustrating experience

Edit - June 4th, 2024: Voices responded to my review, but with a new and contradictory answer. According to Mr. Dylan (Voice's team) payment would take place on June 15th and now the platform says that I will only receive payment on July 14th? Do I have to wait more than a month when I've been waiting for 2 months? According to information on the platform, the payment amount has already been deposited and just needs to be released. If the project has already been approved, why don't they release payment?
I have all the contradictory emails sent by the Voices team and they all state a different date.
The information that I received an email with an update on the payment is not valid because today I did not receive any update from the platform and the email support voices.com never responds. I have sent several emails through this channel and none have been responded to.
So I still don't recommend the Voices platform.

Somewhat frustrating experience. I sent the videos to the project "A3000- Portuguese(Brazil) - TTS Research Project- 5 Minutes of Video" on March 27th, 2024, I received confirmation of approval by email on April 25 and until now I have not received the promised payment of 100 dollars which, according to the project description itself, would be released no later than May 17th, 2024 - which did not happen. Lots of contradictory information from the Voices team and the client, lots of emails with different responses, in addition to the referral bonus for inviting friends to participate in this project ($20 per person) which was also not paid and not even my friends received payment for participating. In other words, two months without getting paid for work and with no perspective on when (or if) we will get paid.

Offered a paid video recording job…

Offered a paid video recording job opportunity and rejected my submission despite it meeting the guidelines. They also took four weeks to review the files when they stated it would only take one week.

I have told them to delete my files but I don't trust that they will and I imagine they were never going to pay.

Complete scam company, avoid like the plague.

A scam?

A scam? I had registered 2 different accounts and it took many weeks to get a reply, and ironically only got a reply because I posted here, one of the accounts is still under review. Interestingly, I had been emailed a couple of 'jobs' to submit voice for, but because account was under review for so long I lost those opportunities. I was also asked to submit 10x videos for a video project they were conducting, I did but no feedback or payment for that either. I have added a a welcome v/o so it will be interesting if Voices lives up to claims, but for now it hasnt.
Footnote: I have made another attempt to upload 7 videos for a project I was invited to take part in, following all instructions, but again have had these rejected.

Feels like fraud

Hi!
As a full time German voice actor in this day and age,
I have worked with many voice platforms which are out there over the years. This is by far the worst experience I have had with any so called professional platform ever, weirdly especially since I paid the membership fee.
-Not enough reasonable paid jobs
- the auditions are not even listened to by the clients and the worst:
- if You write messages about this problem to voices.com customer service they don't even bother to answer.
And this for 500 bucks a year plus 20% fee per job?!?Hello?? This should work seamlessly and there should be enough auditions to choose from not some underpaid stuff. I am open for discussion about this. Til then it sadly feels like fraud.
Avoid this thing!!!!! There are plenty good alternatives.

Don't waste your money

There are far too many actors and not enough jobs on this website. Also, if you live outside of North America you will get next to no jobs because of the time difference. By the time I got to most invites, I was already at least number 30 which just won't get listened to. I am a professional voice actor who has worked for the BBC, various games companies, adverts for major companies like H&M... I also specialise in accents and have a pro studio where I work as a music producer. If someone with my CV can't get a single job in a year of premium on voices, then there is something wrong. Thankfully I get hired elsewhere. Don't waste your money.

Sent a racist interview form

Sent a racist interview form, asking for everything from how dark is your skin (not just race, but literally what shade of dark - are you really black, or just kind of black?), to how much money do you have (what does this have to do with voice-over work???), to asking if you can do the voice of a flying squirrel.... I have never seen so many illegal interview questions on one application form before in my life!

Voices does not send out job invitations to anyone not currently active on our platform, and we would not allow anything like this to be posted on our site.

Based on this, we believe you were sent some sort of spam, not something that was legitimately from Voices.

I was advised to sink $6000 into…

I was advised to sink $6000 into voices.com by an account manager and was not told that I could refund it during the time I could've when it was obvious no progress was being made.

It is particularly vulture-like considering the account manager reached out to me multiple times to check in on the project, fully knowing there is no progress, and decided to not inform me that refunding is an option.

I now understand why such a risky amount was advised, it was at my expense, for their gain. We are a tiny, self-funded studio where $6000 means the world to us and foolishly I've followed the amount he advised since that was a standard as opposed to trying to understand our needs.

How would he feel if he personally lost $6000? This is just another deal for him.

To be unequivocally clear - I am not disagreeing with your standard policies or terms. But your account manager's actions.

I've deleted my account, also tell the new one that already had a call with me and investigated the case my name is not dore for goodness's sake. It's these cracks that tell.

Edit: I was ready to write a second 1/5 stars after this response of yours, but it isn’t possible. You did not understand what the customer’s complaint is about and are forcing your “solution”.

Let me be very clear: I do not want to use your service. You do not have the talent. And you would not make my exit just and fair.

Your account manager did not inform me of the expiry date for refunding, fully knowing the product’s not progressing for months. He constantly checked in through those months seemingly to check on the product’s health without bringing up refunding as a possibility back when it was possible. You do not care for your clients as much as keeping deals closed.

An hour’s work in May 2023, regardless of the legalities, is not worth $6000. Yet here you push it, completely disregarding both what I want and how your agent approached this situation.



Edit 2: I have spoken with them and they’ve stated:

“No, it is too far past the original recording date to remove funds from the talent.”

Which then resulted in this review. This is a conclusive statement, do not accuse me of "best checking with the account manager" when she's done the work and took over a week to get back.

The only resolution I accept is the refund for hours paid that weren’t used. Had we used 10 hours I might understand and shut it, but $6000 for 1 hour being sealed due to a lack of transparency from the agent, followed by constantly enquiring (3rd time now) a fair refund for barely engaging in this project with you, and you would not see how disappointing this is for the customer?

I've just been contacted by the original account manager.

The consistent and complete inability at seeing reality just as it is, that $6000 was invested with an hour used from it, and that they are unwilling to refund the majority of this, makes their priorities clear.

The customer is second.

It is unbearable how they handled this starting with "not possible to try with other talent" to "we'll find a way to" AFTER I requested a refund.

And then every bit of communication after that is constantly insisting to use other talent in their network when I've stated multiple times, I want to refund the hours not used.

I have made an error in how I've allocated the capital I had left - and it is rooted in that account manager's advice. I would not have invested had he not advised me.

We should've gone with far far less initially.

Furthermore - unless you plan on hiring voice actors that sound like radio, stay away from voices.com.

So, take my $6000 that you really want to keep, and **** off.

Voices.com is my favorite casting…

Voices.com is my favorite casting site... mainly because I never have to worry about getting paid for the jobs I book (no chasing down clients for payments weeks after it should have been paid). Their customer support is the best--very friendly, speedy, and they always make sure your questions get answered.

They also offer really great and helpful webinars, and they take members' concerns and needs into consideration.

Would it be the most perfect vo site ever if we only had to pay the yearly membership without the 20% cut for each project? Yes. Would it be amazing if clients knew to approve audio files as soon as possible to receive our payments sooner? Absolutely. BUT... knowing that I'll receive my payments regardless? It's worth it to me.

The other thing I love about Voices is that there are no gimmicks or membership tiers. Everyone pays the same amount and has the same opportunities, overall. Simple pimple, no fuss.

Peace of mind

Voices consistently has work opportunities. Even if their commission is a bit steep, it’s worth the peace of mind of ensuring that payment is received in advance of project completion so actors don’t need to chase down fees.

Voices.com made finding voice talent fun and efficient

We had a fantastic experience with voices.com for our board game video narration. First, using their search tool we were able to get inspiration for the type of voice talent we wanted for our project. Second, creating a project was easy. Third, we received dozens of submissions for our project with multiple that were a great fit. Fourth, the selected voice talent made quick work of our project with turnaround time easily meeting our objective. Finally, completing payment was simple. We will definitely use voices.com for our next production.
