Looking at 99 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently struggled with poor vehicle quality, encountering unexpected rust, persistent mechanical failures, faulty parts, and severe manufacturing defects shortly after taking delivery. Consumers also complained about deeply unhelpful customer service, rude advisors, communication breakdowns, and frustratingly lengthy delays when trying to resolve urgent problems. Some reviewers were happy with individual staff members who provided friendly support, efficient roadside assistance, and genuinely helpful service during unexpected vehicle breakdowns. A few consumers additionally mentioned positive experiences involving smooth vehicle purchases, great trade-in deals, and reliable maintenance services at specific local dealership branches.

Paint on new £60k VW California had pin…

Paint on new £60k VW California had pin head size bumps under the paint. VW Peterborough and VW CC said it was corrosion caused by a stone chip. Although not visible, VW said they took a microscopic photo, but were unable to show this to me and refused to cover under warranty. I had a paint shop remove the paint and no corrosion was present, a foreign object was under the paint causing the defect. VW have been totally unprofessional basing their theory on no evidence and speculation. In light of the new evidence and the lack of evidence on VW’s part, VW have been unwilling to engage or take any responsibility under a meaningless 12year paint warranty. As a devoted VW fan having been loyal to this brand for years, I’m am beyond disappointed.

VW Roadside Assistance has still not…

VW Roadside Assistance has still not refunded my payment after I cancelled a duplicate policy on 25 October 2024 - now 45 days later. Their promise was no more than 28 dyas which itself is unacceptable.
The admin is done by the AA but the name/image at stake is that of Volkswagen. They need to bring their business partner under control.
Right now they say it will take another 18 days due to their admin mix up which rest the clock for another 28 days and their total lack of flexibility to process a refund in under 28 days.

Becky at Liverpool Volkswagen!

Becky at Liverpool Volkswagen is a Star.

My car went in for an oil change and service, between booking my service and attending my car has had damage done to it. When I called i informed them of this and they said they would notify the person dealing with me and the servicer. When i arrived the lady at the desk greeted me promptly and asked me to take a seat. Becky came over within 2 minutes of me waiting and greeted me. We talked over what was taking place on my car today and i informed her about the damage and asked for what the issues were and if i could have a quote. She phoned me only a couple hours later to say it was ready and i can collect whenever. When i returned becky came to me, explained everything on the invoice and the work that was carried out and informed me on the further information, she then advised me of when they would be able to get this in and said to give them a call and ask for her specifically and she would help. I was then walked to my car and set off. Becky showed professionalism, friendliness, knowledge and experience exactly how it should be (especially when you know nothing about cars)... The prices given were reasonable and i was actually shocked at how cheap it was. Becky you are an asset to the company and i cant wait to speak again.

VW Dundee is not worth it

Worst customer service I would have to say service advisors give dates for one month ahead for an engine check light problem which means the car can’t be used for weeks Service Manager Jordan is very rude and don’t seem to care and this is for an approved car that’s is under VW warranty I have had issues with the same guy back in July when MOT was done and my request was ignored and I had to take the car back for the same problem which was dealt with later and wasted my time all they say is we are short on staff! I was asked to call VW Assist if I want an early diagnostic done, sharing a bad experience on social media will get your account blocked :) Sales people would say anything to make the sale can’t expect this standard from VW!!

Terrible customer service!

Terrible customer service!
Went in to the Darlington branch to have a test drive in a ID5 on a Sunday to be told they only had it in on Wednesday and Friday midweek as their member of staff who had it was not in then. So tried another branch at Durham on the phone to strand a test drive on the Tuesday. This was done centrally who promised to contact Durham to sort and said Durham would ring back. This never happened…never ring back. So on Wednesday rang the Darlington branch to arrange for later that day and arranged it for 12pm. At 1015 am they rang back saying that member of staff was now off for personal reasons but they thought she might return next week!!
All we wanted was to test drive a car! What a complete shambles of an organisation!

Oldham VW

Oldham VW, the atmosphere inside was horrendous no one approached me when entering after being there for around 20 mins a gentle man came over and asked if I was ok (very blunt), nerveless, the girl with the bright blonde hair was giving out dirty looks she had seen I was there but clearly didn't want to serve me, I think the staffing there isn't the best this is my second time coming to VW and it will be the last. The staff only seem to care about their image or how they look not what the customer needs. This is my opinion on this but reading further reviews i am not the only one with this opinion to, maybe they should have a different age of staff around not just young girls, I think they are an assets to get 'MEN' in when not only men buy cars.

New hybrid Golf GTE - the user interface is a NIGHTMARE

New hybrid Golf GTE - user interface is a NIGHTMARE
The interface is way too complicated. We cannot get it to do something as simple as delay the charging so it takes advantage of the overnight EV cheap rate. We have given up and had to buy a timer plug in order to delay charging, meaning we cannot use our actual EV charging unit. Yes there is an option to select when you want the car 'ready to use' but that then turns on the aircon/heating for 5:30, we just want a delayed charging option. Also why oh why does the heated steering wheel always come on when the car is started? Why does the SOS unavailable and traffic assist unavailable warning messages randomly keep going off (which is very loud) and we cannot find the setting in the interface to fix it. We have had several EV cars and this is just the most complicated we have ever seen it needs a complete rethink. We have heated seats but have never found how to turn them on / off. Apart from if we use 'ready to use' setting and then the car will turn them on at 5:30 !!!!!!

Charging flap stuck shut

My charging flap was stuck shut, fault actuator. Cost me 10 days without the car. VW charged £180 to look at it and then £300 to fix it. This is a well known fault on all VW branded cars. It should be a recall but they won’t admit there’s an issue. Happens on VW , Cupra, Seat, etc
Avoid VW they use cheap parts and don’t accept liability.

EXPERIENCE FELT NOT WELCOMED

Personally each time I’ve been to the Oldham VW I’ve felt out of place like I shouldn’t be inside there. “vibes”
But I never had that issue when it was at Oldham road showroom.
The staff now in Oldham showroom don’t make me feel welcome at all. This has been 4/5 times each time the same lack of respect and response to customers. To be BLUNT THEY SEEM STUCK UP TO PEOPLE WHOME WANT A DISABILITY CAR.
so I’m sad to say the car is going back asap because of the disrespect I felt every single time I was there.
It’s been almost 7 years and 2 cars later and shown no respect just outright dirty looks from staff.
NEVER AGAIN VW OLDHAM. The lack of welcoming is enough for me to walk away from your showroom and cars for good.

Holy crap...don't lose your keys for a…

Holy crap...don't lose your keys for a modern VW. (mine is a 2022 Golf GTD)

2x new keys from Germany = £678
1x recovery truck to take to VW as they wont come out to code them for you = £234
1x new BCM (Body Control Module) replacement to be able to code new keys = £848
2x keys to be coded = £158
Total = £1,918

Massive breakdown in communication between the VW call/booking centre and VW Stockport themselves meant the car was in the garage for over 2 days...sat there, with no one looking at it. I told them on booking that it needed a new BCM. They didnt note it down.
When it comes to look at the car the service guy says "oh, it need a new BCM...yeh, we haven't got any of those in stock. I'll have to order one. Don't know when it will arrive."

Couldn't offer compensation, no discount offered, no courtesy car available,

Customer service attitude is one of "not really our problem".

Never buying a VW again.
Back to BMW I go.

• oh I should not that in the first two years of its' life, the car needed a whole new steering wheel because it was faulty and a also the back seats stopped going down so they had to be fixed too. Crazy for a "premium" vehicle. Looks nice. Drives and feel like poop.

New VW T-ROC

I took delivery of my new VW T-ROC at the end of March ’24. The car is great and we were very pleased with it. (Apart from the wipers which I will explain in more detail later)
Although we live in Northern Ireland we bought the car from JCT600 in Bradford through a company called Motorfinity as we have a Blue Light Card and got some discount. Although Motorfinity were absolutely brilliant to deal with, taking delivery of the car didn’t exactly go smoothly. Lead time was supposed to be 6 months from placing the order but it actually took 9 months plus an additional month due to 3No. alloy wheels (which I got as an extra) being damaged and had to be replaced (None of this was Motorfinity's fault though and they were totally transparent about everything)
As I mentioned earlier the wiper blades from the very beginning seemed very hard and moved very harshly across the windscreen, I thought that this may have been due to the car being brand new and they needed to be bedded in. After about 5 months the issue didn’t improve so I went to my local VW dealer Edwin Mays in Coleraine NI to seek some advice. The Sales Rep Jason McIntyre seemed totally disinterested and actually quite arrogant and said that it wasn’t a warranty item and put it down to wear and tear. I told him it couldn’t be wear and tear as the car is new. He went on to say that although the car was new it could have been sitting about in a forecourt for a long time before it was purchased. Again this is not right as the car only went into manufacture in January this year due to it being built to my requested specification. He sent me over to their Customer Services Dept. where I explained the situation again and although they acknowledged that there had been previous issues with VW wiper blades and because of this they were using a different (softer) brand I would still have to pay to get my blades changed. I have also spoken to Motorfinity with regards to this matter and they contacted JCT600 and they are basically saying that it is not a warranty item and its not their problem. I’ve also emailed VW customer Services UK and got the same response. Even after filling in a Customer Services Survey after speaking to Customer Services I have got no response much makes me think that VW just don’t care! To say that I am annoyed about this is an understatement. On the VW car configurator with extras our new car retails at over £38,000 and it comes with these substandard wiper blades – If its down to wear and tear does this mean that I have to change my wiper blades every 5 months, I have done so little driving that I haven't even had to replenish my windscreen wash yet!!
Although the wiper blades are not an expensive item and if I have to replace them myself so be it, this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and left totally dismayed. I am also now in a situation that having purchased a brand new car that’s under warranty and having absolutely no aftersales care at all from JCT600 or Edwin Mays. If I had purchased a 2 year old car from a 2nd hand car dealer I would have received better care!
The thing is, I always loved driving VW/Audi cars and seen it as premium product over most other top manufacturers but after this issue I am not sure I will purchase a new VW again. As a matter of principle I am not going to let this matter drop. I am thinking of contacting trading standards if this matter isn’t resolved satisfactorily, more than anything else wiper blades juddering across the front and rear screens even in heavy rain and not clearing the water away causing poor visibility is very dangerous!!!
Just a thought but I think VW Customer Care UK should rename themselves 'VW Customer DON'T Care UK as this is much more appropriate and reflecting of their attitude.

I had a disappointing experience at a…

I had a disappointing experience at a VW dealership while purchasing my new car. Initially, the sales team was helpful, but upon collecting the car, two major issues I had raised— a wet boot and a warning light on the dashboard— were not resolved. I was offered a rental and promised the problems would be fixed within a week.

When I returned to pick up the car, it was poorly prepared. I was handed the key and told to find the car in the parking lot myself. After searching for 20 minutes, I discovered the boot was still wet, and there was no fuel in the tank. The staff offered apologies but no real solutions.

After the car was taken for further inspection, communication was lacking. I eventually found old clothes in the boot, indicating a lack of care in preparing the vehicle. When I went to collect the car again, it was still not ready on time, and it had been washed poorly, with water inside.

Overall, I am extremely disappointed and feel disrespected. I expect proper compensation for this experience, but I was only offered a vague voucher.

I have sent a longer review on the review email address.

Shambolic

It's a real shumble. Tried to advise customer service about my change of address and they are making it so difficult that I'm literally starting to lose interest.
This comes after a formal complaint about the fact that they kept one of our vans for a week to simply change a tail light.
Where is the German efficiency? Lost at the border I guess

Yesterday I walked into VW in Bromley…

Yesterday I walked into VW in Bromley without an appointment as I had been experiencing an Internet/Wi-Fi issue in my car. I approached Josh’s desk who was quietly working away. He greeted me very courteously and suggested we went to my car to see if he could rectify the issue. After a bit of trial and error, he got to the bottom of the issue and I left VW a very happy customer. Once again I have found VW in Bromley provides excellent aftercare and customer service. Thank you, Josh

So to anyone thinking of buying a VW…

So to anyone thinking of buying a VW Touareg .
Don’t buy if you intend to have it for more than two years .
Why - because it starts to fall apart literally just after this period
So far air conditioning packed up ( on the only real hot day in August 24 , now inbuilt call SOS failure take to dealer ps it’s also messing up tel calls as well .
Ps dealer said - yes we are getting notice from VW that this is fault that’s becoming common on this vehicle .
Car was born 1/3/22 - has it hard life over its 8,931 miles - NO.
You can’t make this up anymore another day at a garage and all the performance that goes with.
