I rented a movie and their app just won’t play it so I immediately went to prime video to rent the same movie because i need to use it for my class. I called them twice and they keep cutting the line after telling me they can’t give a refund. So unprofessional.

I purchased a movie from Vudu

I purchased a movie from Vudu. When I tried to watch it , it would not play. After contacting Vudu customer service and waiting 4 months all the while only receiving bot responses I had my credit card company refund the purchase. Then Vudu cancelled my service. Vudu became mad when I stopped them from stealing my money. Just beware and purchase from their competitors like amazon, movies anywhere, etc.

From 4 to 5 stars to one within a few years with very poor customer service

First off, I purchased movies and redeemed codes from the time when Walmart owned VUDU only to have several of those titles disappear from My Movies and customer service give some dismissive response about not having any confirmation of purchase. It wasn't a lot of movies, but I kept documentation of actual dates of purchase and redemption of those movies into my account only to be told by customer service that they have no record of the movies that were previously in my VUDU account, and there was nothing they could do for a long-time customer with over 3,000 purchases. Then tonight, I tried to purchase a $4.99 Weekly Movie Deals only to be told by customer service that it doesn't matter that VUDU is advertising the movie at $4.99, it is not on sale and is actually $17.99. This is clearly deceptive advertising and a 180-degree pivot from customer service that was so helpful and positive in past years. Buyers beware! There have to be better companies than this one where you won't be swindled and mislead by dishonest business practices.

I have repurchased 200+ movies from…

I have repurchased 200+ movies from Vudu using both their disc to digital options and buying other titles not available that way from my wishlist when they go on sale for $5. For that reason I really adore them. It's nice to have your full library at your fingertips. It's going to feel so good to unload 200 discs from my house as I have found they not only take up more space, but I have gotten lazy and turned to things I can stream over putting a disc in the player. I also love how most titles also connect to my Amazon account which gives me even greater flexibility when it comes to watching when I travel overseas.

My biggest complaints with them are not having the ability to A) Turn off continuous streaming. I purchased the full series of "Friends" and when one episode ends I want to have the option to not autoplay to the next episode like Netflix and Amazon offer in their settings. B) For some reason every show when watched to the very end of the credits still shows up with 15 minutes left in the movie or episode and in my queue of unfinished movies. It completely drives me nuts and requires me to fast-forward to the end to clear them out one by one. This is especially annoying with "Friends" when they may have played 12 episodes while I fell asleep watching the first one which goes back to my first complaint. I sent Vudu customer service passionate pleas to update these issues more than 6 months ago, but without any luck which is why I am taking off two stars.

If negative stars was an option

If negative stars was an option, I would choose that. This company is hands down the worst customer service ever! I rented a movie I meant to purchase and they will not provide credit towards the purchase. After I have purchased so many movies, i expected better!

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/SERVICE IN GENERAL

I really there was a way to leave 0 stars, but I had to leave the one in order to tell people about this terrible platform. I can never seem to redeem my digital codes and, like someone else said, there's no good way to contact them. They only have email support, which people don't answer for days sometimes weeks at a time. I received a "We will be escalating your case to our higher level of support for further review. Please allow them time to investigate the issue and reach out to you with a resolution" email 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a thing, even after following up twice. Also the platform is always buffering and I can't watch what I purchased anyway.

I purchase 4k ultra Discs with Valid digital codes…

I purchase 4k ultra with digital codes most which have no expiration dates, I started adding those codes into a vudu account at 1st went smoothly no issues, however now several purchases will not redeem I get nothing but a message that reads "something went wrong please submit again" no matter how many times I re-enter and submit same crap, opened the case via Vudu customer support they ask for receipts pictures code etc. and that's as far as it goes no resolution, and now to make matters worse some of my 4k purchases which originally took are now downgraded to hdx rather than UHD and am now being given an offer to upgrade back to 4k which I originally had for an additional fee, that's ridiculous, How many times do I have to pay for what I already purchased,

They have a good selection, BUT...

They have a good selection of movies and series. Unfortunately, I was charged twice for one purchase. I alerted them, and they asked for everything but a DNA sample. It's been three weeks since they "escalated my case to the higher level of support for further review." I have heard nothing. They have no number to call or an online chat. It's only email. Vudu will screw you.

I wanted to rate a zero but that's not an option. I rented a movie on the site the other day. Due to buffering I couldn't watch it so I came back to it a couple days later and it won't let me watch it . Contacted customer support and they told me it wasn't buffering, pretty much calling me a liar . Did the problem get fixed ? NO. Money back ? NO .. now I know why they are only rated at 1 star .. use your money wisely , choose Redbox

Do not buy a Vudu gift card

Do not buy a Vudu gift card. Trying to scratch the PIN number is awful. This is the second gift card I received as a gift. I had the same issue before. Customer Service is useless in helping me redeem the card. My family wasted their money because I can’t redeem the gift card.

More & more restrictions

Used Vudu for nearly 10 years. They will change terms & erode the accessibly of titles you "own". I had over 75gb downloaded for offline travel viewing. When Vudu updated they removed offline viewing without notice. I had to call customer service to confirm this was the case after the play button was removed from movies. Users had to manually find & delete the now useless downloaded files. The requirements to play UHD or anything on a PC are now absurd. After more & more restrictions Vudu is near unusable for anyone who values a little flexibility.

Vudu did refund my money for films I was unable to view. Kudos to them for doing that without any drama attached.

Vudu came up as source for direct movie rentals, and had multiple titles that were unavailable from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Paid for two movies, and was unable to watch either. The movies would initiate, and run for 20 to 30 seconds, and then stop. A screen message would appear telling me to try again. After a half dozen attempts, trying 4 different web browsers, reducing malware protections to bare minimums, hard reboots on all connection devices, I looked for customer service, that struck out. I was offered refunds for both movies, and accepted the offer. Something about 3 to 5 days makes me a little nervous, but I was relieved to be rid of Vudu. They can never compensate for aggravation, and time wasted. Maybe their free stuff works, but don't pay them anything unless you're sure it will work with your internet connection, and hardware.

Literally, the worst customer service experience ever.

We purchased for our daughter (a minor) a movie under the wrong account (similar email addresses) and when we tried to get the movie transferred to the correct account or a refund issued, we were told our daughter would have to verify the account even though we verified the PayPal account we paid through was ours (the parents). This is the worst customer experience I have ever had from any company.

Wish I could leave no stars

Wish I could leave no stars. I like having Vudu but if you need help, forget it. I received no solution. And its customer Service is based in India. I think she said she couldn’t help because she didn’t know or didn’t even offer to try & help me. Argh! Should have gone with Prime for my streaming library!

Smoke and Mirrors.

So after buying the last couple of movies, I noticed my streaming quality only goes up to HDX. Mostly everything I buy on the app is UHD (and yes all my devices are UHD HDR+ compatible). Started a chat at around 7PM (my time) and waited almost an hour in the queue. Finally connected to someone and went through their basic troubleshooting. That didn't work. After that, I was told she was going to send an email to create a Case Number. Usually a case number is generated prior to ending the chat so you can at least have a reference in the event you don't get an answer or need a follow up. Here it is at 9:00PM and no email to start the investigation. Seems to me that as long as they get your money they'll put you in a queue to wait until you give up and stop trying to contact them.

if they even cared.

You would think they would give you some notice that they were going to be doing updates but no. you call in and after long wait get told 24 hours for updates in the system so I can't watch anything for a day.. now I know its a day and I can find something else but you should give notice of updates you know are going to take the whole system offline for extended time. and whoever you have working could care less.. you could hear it in there so sorry thanks for your understanding in their who cares attitude.

Horrible company scammed me!

Horrible company. Got a voucher at grocery store that said free movie and in tiny print it said that only pertained to in theater movies. I didn’t see this because it was so well hidden and they charged me for the movie. What a scam!

Digital Purchase Not Restored

I purchased a BluRay which included the Vudu digital download of the movie. Vudu has made changes, branching from Walmart. When purchasing a couple movies recently I saw that my other movie is not in my account. I reached out and was told they had no record. I provided the email receipt (record) and followed up numerous times. They have not responded nor restored my movie purchase. That was over a month ago. Poor service. I regret my recent purchase. I could have used any service for the same price.

I think I’m SOL.

When Walmart moved out and turned it over to Fandango Vudu I could not log in to my account anymore. To top things off my email associated with my Walmart account was no longer valid. I set up a new account and tried several times to speak to CS. Finally got through to someone after several months. The rep was very polite and said it would be no problem to combine my old purchases(there are a few)into my new account. 2 weeks and still waiting.
Update 3/30/23 Vudu finally came through and merged my old account purchases to my new account!
