In the Andover store I bought a bottle of wine. When it was opened it had a strong smell of a hospital ward. I poured three glasses and we tasted it and this was enough. I returned a half bottle, expl... See more

FREE SHOPPING AT WAITROSE
Pleased to hear that I can go into a Waitrose store and walk out with my choice of goods without paying for a thing. Unless, that is, some fearless employee dares to stop me. But then I think: he will get the sack and I will still have my goods. As I have said before, Waitrose champions hypocrisy. One day they will grow the balls to do something right. But not yet, obviously.
Not good staff treatment
Not good staff treatment. No intention to shop here now unless the guy is hired agin
We used to enjoy going into Waitrose…
We used to enjoy going into Waitrose and especially the cafe for a nice cappuccino but never again what they have done to this man who has been sacked is despicable he should be given a medal not sacked.

Why don't you give Walker Smith a bonus instead of sacking him. Yes, what he did was not wise, but he has worked for you for 17 years. SHAME ON YOU Waitrose.
I will never shop in your stores again.
Waitrose sack employee for tackling shop lifter
I have been shopping at Waitrose every week for years
Having read in the press that they dismissed an employee for tackling a shoplifter, I ask myself, why should I fund shoplifters? I may as well walk out with my groceries every week! What is the world coming to?
Their treatment of staff is despicable
Their treatment of staff is despicable. Will never go back again.
A Company That Supports Shop Lifters.
I would never shop again a store that fires long standing staff for trying to stop a repeated shoplifter. SHAME ON WAITROSE. Vile company that doesn't support the ethics of its customer.
Totally disgusted with your…
Totally disgusted with your management's decision to sack a loyal member of staff in Clapham branch. Shop at Waitrose but after this appalling decision l will not be spending another penny until the man is reinstated and the idiots who escalated this are removed.
Waitrose has totally lost its way
I was sent a Waitrose discount coupon which I was toying with using, but it is going in the bin after the disgraceful treatment of a staff member who tried to prevent shoplifting.
To deprive this man of his livelihood after 17 years of loyal service is disgusting. He said he sees shoplifting in your stores every day, and no wonder was frustrated. At least he cares.
But rather then that, some faceless, desk bound manager, took the side of the feckless shoplifter. No wonder Waitrose prices are so high when other customers are subsidising the low life criminals.
BTW this comes on top of your shocking treatment of the autistic man who worked for you for free for years
Unjust treatment of employee of 17year
Waitrose sacked worker for challenging shoplifter!
How sick.
Long term employee sacked
I am disgusted to hear that Waitrose sacked a loyal employee of 17 years because he tackled a shoplifter. Sacking? Really? Whoever decided that was the best and only course of action should be sacked. Hoards of loyal WAITROSE customers are furious and will no longer shop there as a result of the sacking that employee. Including myself. I have shopped at Waitrose since 1988. Goodbye Waitrose.
Re: Appalled by the dismissal of Walker Smith at Waitrose Clapham Junction
Waitrose sacked an employee who worked for them for stopping a shoplifter. I've written the following:
Dear Waitrose Customer Service,
As a koyal Waitrose customer, I am writing as a concerned member of the public regarding the reported dismissal of Walker Smith, a long-serving Waitrose employee of 17 years, for stopping a shoplifter at your Clapham Junction branch.
I am appalled that such a dedicated staff member appears to have been punished for protecting store property and acting in good faith. His actions reflect loyalty and integrity - qualities that deserve recognition, not dismissal.
Please, I urge Waitrose to reconsider this decision and reinstate Mr. Smith. I believe this case sends a troubling message to employees, customers, and more horrifying - to shoplifters.
Yours sincerely,
Christopher Sattaur

Personally I love my local Waitrose
Personally I love my local Waitrose. I think because many many years ago I worked with them and they had really great marketing staff down in the head office and were absolutely lovely clients. It lead me to understand their principles and points of difference, and is a far calmer place to shop than the usual big supermarkets but I shop selectively at all. The only downside I have experienced is with their deli, where some staff handle the cheese with their bare hands which is a bit gross so perhaps they can invest in better training here!
Man sacked at Clapham branch
Man sacked at Clapham branch. Terrible shame on Waitrose. Let the thieves steal everything. If Waitrose don't care why should the security staff. Let the thieves run riot in the store. Security go have a seat and a cup of tea. Don't get involved or you will get the sack.

It’s embarrassing that you let go of someone who gave you 17 years, all because they tried to stop a shoplifter. That decision reflects poorly on you. Actions like this only make it seem like your store is an easy target.
disgraceful…
sacking an employee for not following company policy is a total disgrace no warning just sacked is not on. as a result i will n ever shop at waitrose and advice my friends also to not shop there
No Easter eggs for some reason.
Products just not in stock like I thought they would be. No Easter eggs - not sure if all be pinched - not best quality.
Now seem to prefer going down the road of quantity over quality.
Just not a premium brand any more.
