After many years of great service at breakfast you’ve finally managed to screw that up with the new que at the canteen type service.

This was our first time the garden…
This was our first time the garden centre looked good but we wanted some lunch the menu was very sparse the service was dreadful we were given menus and told some one would be a long to take our order after waiting a good twenty minutes I asked how much longer we would have to wait they were far from busy at one time there were four staff standing talking what we ordered wasn’t good the chips being very dry we won’t be going again
Visited the restaurant
Visited the restaurant, I had a mixed salad with grilled Halloumi & falafel , the salad was nearly all baby leaf spinach, 2 very small slices of red onion and 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and 3 tiny Falafels .this is not what I would call a mixed Salad with no cucumber or peppers, it said choose your own dressing, which I did but at the bottom it was covered in oil. Took over half an hour for food to come , people who came in after us and ordered food were served before us . This salad was not worth the £12 I paid for it , we won’t be going there again for food , very angry and disappointed with service and food
Cash NOT accepted
I totally agree with Vito. Waterside is a great place to visit, has beautiful plants, and a lovely selection of gardening items, however, you cannot pay with CASH. I reluctantly paid for my purchase with a card this time but I will not be going back. Cash is legal tender in the UK and should be able to be used everywhere!
Rude staff at tills
Rude staff at tills - queued for 5 minutes to be told go to another till and in those words ! Young staff need customer service training
Very poor service and awful food
We took grandchild for a meal. Getting seated was slow and yet lots of empty tables but told couldnt use them as not been cleaned, and yet staff just stood watching instead of clearing up.
Macaroni Cheese for grandchild was very poor, powdery and stodgy, not edible !
Tried to order cake, asked staff if we could order, told someone will be back to take order, after 15 mins I asked another waitress who was embarrassed, she apologised and said someone with a ‘tablet’ will take order, another 10 mins of watching the person with a ‘tablet’ wandering around looking like she didn’t know what she was doing we left !
The staff are disorganised , food awful and to top it off no cash taken anywhere in the place !
Rubbish Warranty/Customer Service
I purchased an aquarium from them at a cost of over £700 with a few extras. I thought I was buying a new one as I paid the proper retail price. When it arrived it the doors were out of line, I tried to adjust them but no adjustment possible. I went back to the shop to talk to them about, it was then that they had delivered the display one as it was no longer on display. Heaven knows how adults/kids had played with the doors and damaged the hinges. There was no mention to me that I was buying a display/shop soiled aquarium, no discount etc. When I spoke to the assistant about the doors they only reply I got was I would have to adjust them myself, I said I had tried and I thought someone should come round and perform some maintenance I just got a shrug of the shoulders and was told they couldn’t do that. So much for customer service/warranty on a £700 item.
I will think very carefully about purchasing anything expensive from them again.
No answer from them, they have no interest in customer service.
Won’t be back until menu is changed
The restaurant used to have a varied menu, vegetarians were catered for with several choices. Now there’s two, if you like sweet chilli sauce, if you don’t then your choice is a cheese and tomato sandwich. WOW
What a shame. Shall not be back until the menu is changed which from the conversation with a member of staff will be a very long time.
Very slow service in restaurant
First time we've been back to the restaurant since the refurbishment and the service was extremely slow.
Waited 54mins to be served 2 x cream teas.
People 4 or 5 behind us in the queue to get in being served drinks & hot food before us.
If you're hungry or in a rush, I'd advise you to avoid this restaurant.
Expensive food
Expensive food, poor choice and tiny portions!
We appreciate they were very busy after just opening from the flood, but we were charged £29.00 for 2 cold drinks, burger and chips, a very small baked potato with chicken and sweetcorn.
My husband asked for no red onion and when we got home we noticed they had charged us an additional "£1.80 for "No red onion"!!!
Won't be going back in a hurry.
lovely place to visit
lovely place to visit, beautiful plants, lovely selection of gardening items, great selection of items for pets.
the butchery and food hall is good, however, you cannot pay with CASH, we left items behind because of this, surely Waterside must be loosing money for this reason. Cash is a legal tender and should be able to be used.
Love the plants
Love the plants, the cafe and all the bits they sell. Hate the fact they still have stupid screens up at the tills and can't pay by cash. Why is this? Surely you are losing business by only accepting cards?
Good Aquatics but the rest is disappointing
On the plus side, the aquatic centre is very good, and it's staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a good supply of wheelchairs for disabled visitors and their layout is reasonably disabled friendly.
On the negative...
1. They do not accept cash.
2. Their plants are very expensive.
3. Vegetarians not well catered for in the restaurant. I went to the restaurant on a sunday, and was told I could not have the halloumi burger as it was sunday and it was sunday dinner only. I asked what I could eat as a vegetarian and the reply was "We could do you some potato." Presumably with some veg although this wasn't mentioned, but no gravy. So dry potato for sunday dinner. On querying, I got blank stares like "what do you want us to do about it?" They weren't interested and have not responded to messages. We left the garden centre hungry and upset. Will go back to use the aquatics centre but otherwise, there's some good garden centres in Pinchbeck and Weston with far better customer service.
cashless
drove for 45 mins for lunch and to buy garden furniture,
only to find card payments only, even in the restaurant I
only use cash so no lunch or garden furniture for me will not be visiting again very disappointing !!!!!!!!
wasted my day.
Excellent service at a very good price.
I had been looking for 9cm terracotta pots and I came across the Waterside Garden Centre. I placed an order and it arrived in just 2 days. Apart from the speed of the order, the packaging was excellent with each individual pot being protected by bubble-wrap. The packs of 5 were then also wrapped further to make sure they all arrived safe and sound. Compared to most sites for these pots, Waterside was nearly half the price, but the pots were good quality.

There are better garden centres that take cash.
Now use Baytree better restaurant takes cash.
Or Gates over at Oakham better restaurant takes cash.

Fast delivery, great packaging!
I've been looking for a particular plant pot everywhere (online due to lockdown) and this is the only company who would deliver it. It came quickly and 5 stars to whoever wrapped it as the packaging was fantastic!
