I cannot recommend Weight Loss Latvia highly enough! From start to finish, everything was extremely well organised, and every step of the process was clearly explained. Ilva was absolutely fantastic—she was always available to answer any questions I had, both before, during, and after my procedure, which provided me with so much reassurance and confidence.

One of the biggest comforts was that my mother was able to accompany me, and Ilva kindly arranged a local hotel for her, making the whole experience much easier and less nerve wracking. Ilva even went above and beyond by personally transporting us to and from pre-operative tests, to and from the hospital, and back to the airport, which made everything so much more stress-free.

The hospital itself was spotless and very comfortable, with the nurses being incredibly kind and attentive—I felt well cared for the entire time. I also had my own room, which was large and perfect for getting in some steps after the surgery, and the bathroom was clean and spacious so I was able to shower easily before and after the operation.

Dr. Olegs was also wonderful as he was patient, listened to my thoughts and concerns about the procedure, and handled my last-minute decision to switch procedures.

Even after returning home, Ilva has kept in touch, checking in on me and is always happy to answer any further questions I have. This ongoing support means so much, and I truly appreciate it.

Where to start?! Let’s go back to May 2024…

This has been one of THE most profound, life altering experiences I have had in my 39 years on this planet.

I hadn’t ever considered weight loss surgery due to UK costs and NHS waiting times until a friend mentioned she was going to Latvia to have a a gastric sleeve! I was intrigued! So I found out more info from her and then contacted Weight Loss Latvia myself and from there, the rest is history!

I spoke to Ilva from the very get-go. We exchanged messages via WhatsApp, we had a Zoom call where I could ask questions and find out more in depth information and the next day I booked a date for the surgery. Ilva handled EVERYTHING, right down to finding info on the best airport to fly from to options of flights for me. She was there from the very beginning and made sure I was completely at ease!

From initially booking to flying out to Latvia, I followed the diet advice from the surgeon, Dr Olegs, and lost just under 15kg. This really helped to put my mind in the game and also ensure that my liver was more healthy for the operation.

The flight and arrival to Latvia was perfect! I was picked up by a private taxi and driven to my lovely hotel where I spent the night. Ilva was in touch with me before leaving the UK and immediately upon arrival in Latvia!

I had a wonderful sleep in the hotel and felt extremely calm and positive about what lay ahead. Ilva picked me up from the hotel and took me to get all of the pre-booked pre-surgery tests that were necessary. We had a lovely chat in the hospital whilst I waited and it really felt like I was talking to someone I had known for years! Ilva’s warmth and care for others radiates out of her.

After all the tests I was taken to Sigulda Hospital, where Dr. Olegs is based. Again, I went through more tests and this really put my mind at ease knowing the surgical team had all the vital and necessary info for my surgery.

The nursing team were angels!!! No word of a lie. What incredible women they were - gentle, patient, kind, nurturing.

The day of my surgery arrived and I was calm and relaxed because of Dr Olegs and his team of angel-nurses! I went into theatre at 9am and the next thing I knew I was being checked on by another angel-nurse at 5pm in the recovery room! Everything went perfectly well! Apart from gas pain from the operation, I felt fantastic!

The after care from Dr Olegs, the nurses and Ilva were second to none! My recovery in hospital (3 days) was wonderful and because of this, my flight home went smoothly too!

Fast forward to Jan 2025, I have lost nearly 45kg in total and feel better than ever!!!! I followed all of the post surgery advice and joined many Facebook groups to continue with support and connection with those who have had bariatric surgery. I am in full control of my life and believe me, what a life I am excited to live!!!

I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to go for weight loss surgery with ‘Weight Loss Latvia’ - I only wish I did it sooner!

From day one of FaceTiming Ilva to being back home post op, I couldn’t fault a single part of the process. I was obviously worried about travelling solo from Scotland but I shouldn’t have been! Ilva always took time to explain everything to me and answer questions so by the time we met in person I felt like I was meeting an old friend.
The hospital was very clean and comfortable with beautiful views all around and I always felt very cared for.
The dr visited a few times to go over everything and popped in a few times after my op too and he was always very friendly and helpful.
Ilva even took me on a little tour of Sigulda to show me some of the local history.
I really hope to return to Sigulda for a holiday one day as the place is picturesque!

Every single step, starting with payment, traveling, medical related questions and post-surgery care, was explained and guided by Ilva.
Everything is well organised from arrival to departure. No worries, all is already done for you.
I couldn't decide up to last day what kind of surgery be best for me. Dr. Kozlovkis took in account all my personal medical conditions before advised best option for me.
Unfortunately for me, I got some kind of flu virus, probably during traveling, which got so exposed badly after surgery when my immune system was weak.
Ilva, Dr. Kozlovkis and all their team took best care of me. I was treated additionally from virus. I had to stay extra time in the hospital, charge free, as I had wheezing cough, temperature and short breath.
I could feel that everyone cared.
After return, Ilva is still following with me about my health.

From the moment I made contact with Ilva Weight loss Latvia was a joy. She made everything stress free. Ilva was full of fantastic guidance and information about the different gastric procedures and more. I had researched lots of countries looking for gastric surgery and when I came across this website, it was clear, factual and honest and did not prioritise money facts and special offers with a limousine pickup.

Ilva collected me from the airport which was great as I was flying solo and very kindly took me for a little tour of Riga which was amazing and cared for me every step of the way. Ilva took me for all my pre-ops assessments and to the hospital in Sigulda for the surgery and recovery then collected me and took me back to the airport.

Another great fact of this experience was the Facebook page and all the different video sessions and information that is provided by Ilva on dietary and good health requirements.

All the surgery procedures are in line with the European law and guidelines, which I found reassuring. Especially as cost could be reclaimed if on an NHS waitlist. Although cost was not shoved in my face with advertising it was actually very good value and a fraction of what I would’ve paid in the UK to go privately.

The hospital was amazing and overlooked a beautiful valley with castles in the distance. The hospital was very quiet and it felt like I had my own nurse on call with a nice private room.

The surgeon Dr Olegs is very supportive and clear with what he thinks his recommendations should be. His priority was my health and he had to make changes to the surgery type due to a preoperative assessment finding.

I finally went for the gastric sleeve surgery and at the time I was weighing 94kg and now eight months later I weigh 69kg. Within three months of the surgery, part of my GP follow-up bloodworks showed vast improvements and I feel so much better in myself. I still have a little more to lose and weight is beginning to drop off a little slower, but that just means I’ve got to work harder.

I would have really done my research as I already had a bad experience abroad so I left nothing to chance this time. From my initial contact with Ilva I know I had found a great team but I didn't take any chances I got my friend who was a nurse write out about 20 questions and sent them off to Ilva and she answered them immediately and yes it was a full hospital with ICU blood transfusion facilities an EU hospital which has to follow all EU guidelines
All so important in case something goes wrong
Of course everything she said was true and the care from ilva and Dr Olgas was beyond my own high expectations.
The hospital was amazing and surgery was so easy. I had teeth out that caused me more pain.
I also didn't know about the cross border initiative until Ilva told me eventhough I was on a waiting list in Ireland for 6 years. She filled out all the forms for me and I got my money back in 6 weeks
Another big plus about this company is you never felt they were taking your money and leaving you to fend for yourself. The aftercare was amazing and nearly 3 years down the line (Feb 2022) Ilva still checks in on you every now and then. I was so happy with this company I accompanied my sister in the August of that year for her successful operation

I wanted to let anybody who is considering going to have weight loss surgery with Weigh Loss Lativa WLL that they are making the right decision.

I travelled to Lativa on my own in April 2024. I wanted to lose weight, I was waiting for a full hip replacement. When I had the pre-op for my hip replacement I was shocked by my weight I think I was in denial before that day, the nurse gave me the dreaded lecture.

I left the hospital committed to doing something positive and luckily I found Weight Loss Latvia that day, I spoke with Iliva. I postponed my hip surgery and travelled to Latvia the following month. My weight loss is still in progress, but I am very happy as I know I will finish the journey.

I had my hip operation 2 weeks ago.. the team were delighted with my weight loss! I am happier and more mobile and recovering great. I just feel lighter too.

Weight puts such a strain on you both mentally and physically. And the cycle of dieting is exhausting and depressing. We could all write the book.

I would highly recommend Iliva she is such a professional. The whole team in WLL are just brilliant.

I cannot say enough about Weightloss Latvia and the very lovely Ilva, Owner and Patient Co-Ordinator. From the time I requested a call with her, right through my experience and even now nearly 10 weeks on. To say I had done my research is an understatement! I researched the life out of everything and created various spreadsheets. It’s what I do!

A taxi met me at the airport and gave me a guided tour of Riga on the way to the hotel, which was beautiful and I was lucky enough to have a room overlooking the Daugava River. After a great night’s sleep, Ilva meet me bright and early and took me to one of the city hospitals where I have an endoscopy. Having had these in the UK in the past, I was dreading it, but here they put you to sleep and when we wake it has all been done!!

Then a tour of Sigulda on the way to Sigulda hospital and to my large private en suite room. The staff here are lovely and cannot do enough to help you. As I travelled on my own, I was quite nervous about how it would all work out, but I needn’t have. I had a chest x-ray, ECG, urine and blood tests. Once done and Dr Olegs had a chance to review, he came to meet me to discuss the surgery in detail and answered my a million and one questions and he giggled at my spreadsheets! :o) I like to think he was impressed!

The surgery went really well. You always spend the first night in ICU just in case there are any issues. The following morning I was back in my room. Any pain was managed well and I had the best nights sleep while I was there. You are encouraged to drink water regularly and walk, walk and then walk some more! It really does help! The fact that I could recover and start my healing in the hospital and not in a hotel was a big plus for me. As was knowing I was in an EU regulated hospital. After a few days I flew home and carried on healing there. You aren’t forgotten and Ilva checks in with you on a regular basis to make sure all is going ok. They provide lots of information for both pre and post op too.

As a side, the grounds and gardens of the hospital are beautiful! I will go back there for a long weekend I think as I didn’t get a chance to see all I wanted.

One big tip………..when you book your flights, make sure you book assistance for your journey home. The gate is quite a way from check in and I was very grateful to be in a wheelchair.

when I say I researched thoroughly i mean THOROUGHLY. Spreadsheet of options/reviews/prices /instagram/tiktok reviews from patients etc etc . My only regret is I wish i had done it sooner. Ilva and Dr Olegs are an absolute dream team, Ilva is there when you need her and the hospital and its care are second to none. riga and sigulda are beautiful places, i am 19 weeks post op and couldnt be happier and thankful to weightloss latvia.

Amazing Amazing Iiva is truly Amazing. Latvia as a place is incredible stunning a stunning place well recommend going a day or two early to see the sights and food is excellent.. From contacting Ilva with regards to a Gastric Bypass, after the team and hospital being highly recommended by my cousin, who previously had a gastric bypass by the team everything about my care was excellent. Ilva rang me numerous times, paperwork completed with ease, verbal health checks done thoroughly and me given the plan of action for on my arrival. Ilva, who is a beautiful person, professional explains everything on arrival, picks you up, settles you in hotel, takes you for pre tests and takes you to the hospital for your operation. Dr Oleg, also lovely and extremely professional sees you prior to op for a consultation, then Carrie's out the procedure and sees you every day after before discharging you. All the hospital staff are lovely, caring and even if not fluent in English find a way to converse. Once discharged Ilva sees you safely back to airport. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend weightloss Latvia to anyone. You couldn't be in better hands. I'm so happy I proceeded with my procedure, as yet my weightloss is 5 stone...I'll always be thankful to Ilva, Dr Oleg and hospital staff.

Life changing experience - Sleeved March 2024
From the very first enquiry with the company and Ilva, I knew I had made the right decision about where to have my weight loss operation. Latvia is a beautiful place and I feel blessed to have visited and will be back. The whole process was so organised, from travelling, support, being picked up and dropped back to the airport and being taken care of in the hospital with genuine care. Originally wanted a Gastric Bypass, but had a Gastric Sleeve instead due to initial test results which has been the best decision ever, weight loss to date is nearly 3 stone and is slow and steady. Want to thank Ilva so much for also supporting my husband with booking nearby hotels so he could visit me every day. Dr Oleg, surgeon, listened and answered any questions as I was naturally nervous being in a different country. I have transformed my life in a way I wouldn't have been able to do in the UK. Firstly I'd like to give a huge thank you to Ilva and Dr. Olegs, They both have changed my life and I'll forever be thankful.

Booking the surgery and travel was extremely easy after having a free consultation with Ilva, I immediately felt at ease going forward as it's clear the main focus of Weight Loss Latvia is your health.

Any questions I had both during and after the consultation was answered quickly and honestly, When I arrived in Latvia I was escorted to the Hotel by a driver and picked in the morning by Ilva for my post Op checks. Ilva is extremely friendly and welcoming and really felt safe in her care.

The hospital was immaculate and clean, staff were extremely friendly and helpful, I had my own room which also helped me with my nerves.

Ilva would also visit me when I was in the hospital to check on me which is honestly so sweet of her to do so, I really felt like I had a friend in Ilva during my whole time in Latvia.

Dr Olegs is an amazing surgeon and it's clear his patients care and interests are where his heart is. We had gone through surgery options and had a little talk about what to expect and if I had anymore questions prior to the surgery.

After the surgery the care I received was amazing, the night nurse on shift was readily available for any questions or reports of discomfort (I was barely in pain which is another massive credit to Dr Olegs)

Once back in my room the nurses would frequently check in on me to make sure I was okay and not in any pain. Once again the level of care completely wipes the NHS.

After a few days in hospital I retuned back to the my hotel and then back home, I've had zero complications and Ilva frequently checks in to see how I'm progressing. Absolutely amazing service, I had my surgery on the 19th March and today it's the 31st May, my recent weigh in at the doctors has confirmed I've lost 4 stone already. 5*

I'd highly recommend Weight Loss Latvia over the rest and would encourage those who are looking to better their health to contact Ilva, after meeting with different surgeons it's clear their goals are more financially motivated but not Weight Loss Latvia, Your health is their focus and you're not made to feel like you HAVE to do this after the consultation.
