Restored my faith in Dentists after 27 years of extreme fear in attending dental appointments! Dr Sam Gowan - what an absolutely professional & engaging dentist. He explains as he proceeds with his treatment; I cannot fully explain just how my fear has slowly dissipated, thanks to his patience & persistence in being a kind, calm, caring, informative, understanding & humble dentist. A huge thank you goes to him!
Staff are helpful & efficient at the Reception desk.
Hygienist Ms Trow is also very helpful & professional.

Did I say 5*- oh I'm so sorry - I meant minus 5*. I made the my appointment regarding a single implant with the Prestatyn branch of West End Dental a few weeks ago .Honestly - it was one of the most eye opening and upleasant encounters Ive ever experienced.
The dentist in question - Mark Gibson - in my opinion - used out and out bullying and scare tactics on me from the start. His opening line was to inform me immediately that he was extremely concerned about the whole state of my mouth. Really????I go regularly to a very good dentist so this was news to me. Apparently the vast majority of my teeth teeth were on the verge of fracturing and falling out and he grew ever more animated as he pointed this out from the x ray he had taken!!!As for my one implant (the only thing I'd actually come about!) well that - he merrily informed would need 4 teeth out - and 2 implants put back holding a bridge of the other 2. Also that there were lots of areas of infection that would also need to be treated first (costs adding up!)Any questions from me were swiftly deflected and the atmosphere was getting quite tense as he could see I was not being shocked into submission.
Cannot even imagine what the effect would be like on someone who suffered from anxiety or who had a dental phobia - but you can get some idea from reading the very relevant 1* reviews hidden away at the bottom. They mirror my experience.
The bill for the proposed treatment was a mind boggling £10000- but not to worry they have convenient payment plans (at goodness knows what rate of interest) that they cannot wait to sign you up to when you are directed to another room.
I would never ever set foot in that practise again- especially as I now am having hopefully a single implant fitted for around £2500 somewhere else!

Excellent treatment

They are all very friendly and make you feel relaxed and explain everything to you so you know what to expect. It is very relaxing waiting in the waiting and you don’t have to wait long to get seen.

My dental experience so far.. im a very nervous person and I was really worried about my appointments. Now I cant wait to go. Such a lovely dentist and to be honest the whole team made me so welcome

Excellent Dental practice, welcome and service given is outstanding every time.

I am no longer scared of visiting the dentist as my new dentist is amazing! She is positive and helpful and reassuring…which is exactly what you need when you are terrified! Highly recommend! The rest of the staff are lovely too and the receptionist is always fantastic with both myself and my daughter.

Dr Avon was kind, understanding and explained what she was doing through the whole procedure..I was having a root canal and restoration of my tooth to enable a crown to be fitted..I wholeheartedly recommend this dentist

All the staff are excellent, both technically and in terms of patient care. Treatment is fully discussed, explained clearly and all questions are answered fully.

I’ve had my first assessment and am very impressed with the quality of service. The clinic is modern and has all the latest technology. The staff are professional and highly knowledgeable. Dr Matharu was so warm and welcoming. We moved to North Wales 2 years ago and have struggled to find a private dental practice that has everything we wanted (dental plan, resident hygienist, etc). We’re very happy to have found West End Dental in Colwyn Bay.

All around service was exceptional . Dentist Mrs Kime was great explaining every step of the process
