Awful worse than I expected had to complain to get it cancelled slow old fashioned and lengthy was phones by someone when I asked to cancel they directed me to the app where you can't log in as I'm not a Westpac customer pretty poor old fashioned bank someone in home loans on complaints line finally helped me and they were great.
Shit bank!!
Severely understaffed
Severely understaffed. Had to wait an hour to be served. Always unauthorised transactions on my account. I am cancelling the account
After 50 years loyalty they just bully
After 50 years of loyalty to this bank Westpac Australia have bullied me for nearly 2 months. I transferred in a large sum of money after a term deposit with another company expired. For 7 weeks they have blocked transfers saying they are protecting me from scam or fraud, but with no evidence of any scam or fraud. They have blocked my accounts and blocked my on line banking. Any call centre contact takes anything from 20 minutes to an hour to get through but their staff can’t make decisions and are just ticking boxes. I have lost thousands in interest and have had false information sent via email. Don’t go anywhere near this bank. Their service is terrible and they treat their customers as if our money is theirs.
Really shocking dealt with by Fraud Team
Really shocking. Withdrew cash a few times and my account was locked, got a call from a very rude and insulting man from Fraud Team, he was unbelievably aggressive. He wanted me to explain my entire banking history (I had the account since 2003). This guy is WAY out of line. The bank is just a middle man for my money. It does not own my money !!! Never again!
I have banked with Westpac for over 40…
I have banked with Westpac for over 40 years and the experience just gets worse. The only reason I continue to use Westpac for my main banking is because I have an investment loan with them. I recently restructured this loan and the process was a nightmare - Westpac freezing my working cash money (a considerable sum as I had just sold my home) right before Christmas whilst the restructured loan was being set up. So - no cash available to me the week leading up to Christmas. My loan adviser tried hard but ‘the loans team’ were uncontactable to unfreeze my personal cash!!!! Extremely poor service or rather no service! Could not get anyone or any manager in the ‘customer service’ or ‘loans team’ during whole process to actually speak with during entire 19 day process. Westpac has become faceless -no accountability. Would never recommend anyone to Westpac based on recent experiences.
Caution on reviews
I just saw part of a review on an apparent Westpac EFTPOS machine in my name which I DID NOT WRITE & wasn't aware of until last week & it's apparently been done in 2023, now can't find the review to read it all or edit & delete it.
I very bad identity theives & always have since their first home invasion so very many years ago with Police always hard at work in trying to catch them.
So please be understanding in reading anything for public viewing in my name as it won't always be me writing it & those doing it to detrament toward me even in exaggerated head & or brain injuries from sufferings with severe injuries from those who home invaded my homes always targetting me as they do others in trying to control our lives & keep us financially poor, living beneath the average povity line, them with our assetts & money.
Foreign Currency Travel Card was…
Foreign Currency Travel Card was removed from my bank account 30 December even though usage was normal. Balance was approximately $2000. 15 January the account is still not visible or useable despite 4 phone calls (one for 75 minutes) and a Complaint. First call, I had to read my card number out over the phone because they had no visible record of it. I am told "they are looking at it" (12 days now). How does a bank lose one of your active accounts?
Dont buy Westpac WBC shares on the ASX.
Luckily my main bank is ANZ.
Worst bank in Australia .
Worst customer service , impossible to contact for fraud . Online reporting is a joke also. Second time account has been compromised.
Westpac telephone customer service…
Westpac telephone customer service operators appear to be poorly trained and just do not know how to help customers when making enquiry.
not everyone is teck savvy and can use their online banking.
I am sick of the issues with westpac.
I am sick of the issues with westpac.
I had what looked like fraudulent activity on my card last week and tried for around 40 mins to get help but couldn't speek to a person. I had to wait till next day when the bank was open. Since then I did eventually get help and they have cancelled my card and re issued. I tried again today to speak to a person and the computer kept hanging up on me. This is unacceptable!!!
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. They logged me out of the app due to a potential fraud. I was the one doing the transaction. Tried to call their customer service from overseas. Wait for 80 minutes and no one picked the phone…
I can’t use my app and no one reached to me.
Utterly unbelievable
Utterly unbelievable - I have banked with Westpac for 44 years before they were called Westpac. I have been a business customer for 17 years. I just called to query a transaction and they asked me for a "key word" and without it they would not talk to me. I have no idea what they are talking about. I offered to provide a range of other identifications and they said without the key word, that would be the end of the conversation.
Absolutely nonsense
Iv transferred money outta my savings account plenty of times and also the same with another account westpac decided to shut them all down and take my money tried calling but all you get is ai so I emailed no response for 10 days, this is the last straw I'm going to swap banks after this
Terrible customer services and terms…
Terrible customer services and terms and conditions is fake documentation. Be carefully!!
The best way to solve the issues is to request support from AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) and explaining all the issues. All clients can open a complaint with this government institution.
Westpac was not transparent about their…
Westpac was not transparent about their terms and conditions. And they lied about their systems and processes. I flipped between different parts of the organisation. I did not get the rewards I was entitled to despite meeting all the terms and conditions. DO NOT trust this company, there is no integrity and no way to get your concern heard in the bank.
Beauracratic
Beauracratic, difficult to speak to a person, unreasonably more demanding. They want additional forms of id but then put in maximum blocks to enable you to do this.

Ive had it up to here with this stupid bank. Constantly locking me out of my account. First couple times for sending $100 payments, like thats suspicion of money laundering? This time I was asked to do kyc which i did. The system in the app just doesn't work, tried 3 times and got locked out. Im overseas and cannot go into a branch. Really a useless bank
Westpac bully boys.
Mixture of the way Westpac bully boys work and IDs in general.
I am Scottish OAP (67) and this is my very first time contacting any MP.
A few weeks ago Westpac contacted me asking me to verify who I am (customer for almost 30 years). They asked for certain information which I verified on line but it wasn't enough. They said That I needed to go the my branch. I Told them that I did not have an Australian Passport, Driving Licence or Birth Certificate and that getting to a branch was too difficult as I had a heart attack, end of last year, and triple bypass operation that has left me unable to do anything but the simplest of tasks. Putting the bin out is a struggle. I have not been out of the house since about last Easter and that was checkups at the hospital by taxi. Unfortunately my confidence has crashed and it seems like to big a challenge going out alone. I do not have family and any friends stay to far away. I am one of those people who dislikes asking for favours. Stupid I know.
After several emails/ phone call/ complaints I lost my temper and let them know exactly what I thought about their bullying tactics.
A couple of weeks ago they stopped me paying of my credit card. Go figure what that was about. I pay my rent every Wednesday and get set a SMS om my mobile. Around about lunchtime I noticed that there was no message. I called my landlord but he said that it was usually afternoon by the time he got informed of the payment . There was no rent money taken from my account. I order my groceries on line and Coles cancelled the order but I was having separate issues with their website. The usual Westpac says the problem lies with Coles and Coles says the problem lies with Westpac, so I called Coles and asked them to delete my account and thought that the order I had placed got caught in-between live and cancelled, but alas Westpac have stopped transections on my Debit Card and now I cannot pay rent, groceries, had to get an extension on my gas / electricity due tomorrow or get a Taxi to the branch at Southland (even if I didn't have the doc. they wanted).
Ironically, I had said to myself that regardless of how bad I felt, I was going to have to deal with the travel issue and luckily I had topped up my MYKI so I could get the bus and while at Southland, if I held up, get an digital ID at Australia Post, if possible. Then I realised that I could not pay for the very thing that the aholes at Westpac wanted as they have stopped my payment options and it has been years since I carried any cash.
I have put another complaint to Westpac but I don't think they actually read anything as every reply seems to indicate that thy don't care if your dead you must comply with their lord and masters. My stress levels and blood pressure are through the roof and I am at my wits end.
I have tried in the past to get some kind of ID but end up giving up in frustration.
From what I have tried in the past, you cant get an ID without the proper documents and if you don't have the proper documents you cant get an ID. I have gone round in circles with this many times in the past. Last year when I needed to get my hands on my Super, I had the same problem and this is the reason I have not applied yet for the state pension
I think I have developed a phobia about IDs digital or otherwise.
I’ve been overseas for two weeks and…
I’ve been overseas for two weeks and have had one of the most frustrating experiences trying to get help from Westpac. I lost access to the app and simply needed assistance to make my loan payments.
I tried calling the international support number multiple times and was hung up on three separate occasions. I emailed my branch and specific staff members, but every reply I received completely missed the point and sent me in circles. I asked for BPay details so I could make payments from another bank — still nothing.
What makes this situation even worse is that I managed to resolve issues with Optus and ZipPay while overseas with no problem at all. But a major bank like Westpac? Zero help. Zero support. Just a frustrating loop of non-answers and no action.
After this trip, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. A bank this big should be able to handle basic customer support, especially for something as simple and important as accessing my account and paying my loans.
