My poor cat won't eat anything but whiskas normally. He now won't eat since the new recipe and is losing weight.
Please bring back the original recipe.
My rescue cat has always had whiskas. I recently brought a box of 40 whiskas surf and turf duo as he loved it so much. I Put it down. He took one sniff and refused to eat it!- Later that day I put another one down.same result he would not touch it- that's when I noticed the packaging seemed different!- I had to resort to a tin of tuna by tea time because I didn't want him to go hungry-i have still randomly tried to put this down but it's the same each time- he won't even taste it!!- he's now gone over to Sheba!!- whiskas don't mess with the cats food recipes. They are very sensitive to change!!-
I couldn’t understand why my cat is totally refusing to eat whiskas, until I read this! My husband as we speak is off to purchase another brand fingers crossed. He happily ate the fish recipes for 5 years and now just walks away constantly meowing because he is hungry. One of your replies says mix with his usual food but how? You have changed the recipe!!! Let’s hope our new purchase is successful.
We have fed our cats Whiskas their entire lives without issue. Recently, both of our cats became extremely unwell at the same time, vomiting and severe diarrhoea. As you can imagine, this was incredibly distressing. We completely cleaned our home, checked everything they could have gotten into, and were genuinely worried something serious was wrong. We were very close to taking them to the vet, which would have meant unnecessary stress for them and significant cost for us.
After exhausting every possibility, we contacted Whiskas directly, only to be told the recipe had been changed.
No clear warning. No visible notice. Nothing.
How is that acceptable? When human food recipes change, companies often make it clear with “new recipe” labels because they understand it can affect people. Our pets are family. They rely entirely on us to make safe choices for them, and we rely on brands to be transparent.
A sudden, undisclosed recipe change has made both of our cats seriously ill. That is not just disappointing - it’s irresponsible.
Pets deserve better. Owners deserve better.
We will not be trusting this brand again.
Terrible food now.my cat has been sick after eating this new crap food! Vets bill will be sent to whiskas! Had to bin over £100 worth of food as my cats now won't eat the new stuff. Whiskas manufacturer needs to listen to customers and get back to the previous recipe! There's a saying that you clearly don't know about and that is that " if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" . There was nothing wrong with the previous recipe. Get a grip on this matter and go back to the old recipe as you've lost our custom now! Our 3 cats won't eat it!
We have bought a new box of kitten food and, as the previous comments have already described, my cat now refuses to eat it. We had thought it had a different smell, but not being cat food connoisseurs, and this being our first cat, didn't think much of it. That was until he was ill and needed a trip to the vet, who pointed out this was the likley culprit. Now we have over a months worth of food that is of no use, an ill cat whos toileting is now awful and we are having to recoup his calories through other means. Owners are trying their best to ensure their cats eat and look after money, this has betrayed both those points and more importantly the cats. Given the packaging was revamped, I don't see why this couldn't have been noted on there? Maybe I am naive.
I made a bulk order of Whiskas fish in jelly as I have for the last twelve months but unbeknownst to me they have changed the recipe. Both my cats now refuse to eat it and it ends up in the bin. I have loads of unopened boxes. Pet food is expensive enough without having to waste it.
My 2 cats used to love Whiskas but since the new recipe change they refuse to eat it. They just look at the food in disgust.
I’m very disappointed with the recent changes to Whiskas. Since the packaging update, it’s clear that the composition of the food has also changed. Unfortunately, my cat, who has been eating Whiskas for a long time and was used to this specific food, now refuses to eat it at all.
Because my cat was only used to Whiskas, this change has caused a serious issue – he is now not eating properly and is basically going hungry. This is extremely worrying for any pet owner.I really hope the company takes this feedback seriously and considers either improving the recipe or bringing back the previous formula. Right now, this change has had a very negative impact on my pet’s wellbeing.
cat no longer loves whiskas since the change of recipe which is VERY annoying as we bulk buy to save money...

We have been buying Wiskers fish favourites for seventeen years for our cats. We now have only one Bengal who is seventeen and a half and since the change in recipe refuses to eat it.
She used to always sit and wait for the packet to be opened but now will not go near this “improved” recipe. Please listen to the many cat lovers who have said, please bring back the old recipe.
Cats do not like change when it comes to food even if you say it is an improved recipe.
Whiskers used to be classed as a gold standard product, now you wouldn’t make the podium.
We have been forced to seek another brand especially now that Whiskers makes her ill.

My 3 cats have refused all varieties from the fish and poultry boxes so far. It would have been more appropriate if owners were warned in advance about the recipe changes as I have a large stock of whiskas pouches that are going to now go to waste.

I have to echo the comments here. Whether it is the Poultry or The Surf & Turf, Whiskas has been the preferred cat food for my cats for the past six years. They just walk away from the pouch as soon as I open it. One of my cats is terribly thin at the moment, because I can't yet find an acceptable alternative for him. This was a reckless move. Should have been introduced as a different product line.

I agree with other comments as neither of our cats will touch the new formulation. They eat their biscuits and won't go near the Whiskas wet food. We end giving it to our chickens. Maybe if they rebrand as 'Feathas' they might have a viable chicken treat product but for cats it's useless. Now off to the pet store to find something they might eat.

This cat "food" makes my guy's poo smell absolutely foul! It was like a chemical bomb every time he went to hisblitter tray. Happened to my friend's cat as well. All problems solved once we changed the label. I don't know what they put in them, but it's shameful it goes on.

All 4 cats have stopped eating it at the same time, now they are barely eating anything, I’m having to syringe feed my kitten as he’s gone right off of all food since whiskas changed recipe, cost me hundreds at the vet making sure all the cats are ok, and it seems it’s the whiskas food that has done it. How may customers do you need to tell you that this new recipe is shocking! How many animals have to get sick? How many customers have to lose money! My cats are 11 10 3 and 10 months all of them have always had whiskas and now not a single one of them will touch it!

If I could give them no stars I would! have emailed Mars about the food which has made my cats so ill, I have boxes of unopened pouches that my cats won't touch, nor now will I feed it to them. Vets bill cost me £90 to be told the cats OK, it's this awful food. They've admitted they've changed the recipe for the cats good, yeah right, it's purely for profit inmho. They replied to me saying that no one to their knowledge has complained about this cat food, that's not what this site says is it? They offered me £ 30 as a goodwill gesture, laughable and frankly insulting, some 6 weeks later my cats are still not eating like they were! My cats have had Whiskas pouches for the last 5 years with no problems whatsoever, coincidence? I don't think so. Am now left with boxes of food I cannot use, nor do I want to give to any charity in case it makes other cats as poorly as mine have been. Shame on you Mars

I called Whiskas today and was told the recipe of the cat food has been changed. My cat hates it and this leaves me in a bind trying to feed him. I cannot afford experimenting with my cats food! ‘It’s a cost-of-living crisis’! Over the past months, I’ve bought 2, 40 pack boxes, different flavours and age (new packaging), he does not like them. The smaller Whiskas boxes with the old packaging and obviously old recipe, he loves. I put them both down side by side. With this “new recipe” Whiskas has reduced the quality of the meat/food in the bigger boxes. They want you to pay more for the smaller boxes (better quality).
He likes Sheba too but it’s too EXPENSIVE for me!!
They sent me a £5 voucher the stores do not accept!
What in the …. world is going on?!
