The White Hart is a traditional pub serving excellent home cooked food and superb real ales. There are two beautiful gardens, a secluded quiet one to the rear of the building and a large one to the front of the pub. A function room/skittle alley is a...

Lovely warm atmosphere, friendly staff & cracking food. Would highly recommend!
What a find! We were looking forward somewhere to stay en route to the West Country from Essex. This pub/restaurant/hotel is terrific. We were welcomed by new owner Tim Hinton and his regulars at the bar. The hotel room was lovely as was our dinner accompanied by an excellent wine and fabulous draught Buncombe beer.
We shall return! Well done all concerned.
We left an Amazon kindle in the room when we left, having phoned to ask them to check the room, no luck, having phoned again it turns out they had checked the wrong room, the housekeeping staff claim they found nothing, sorry.......it had to be in the room
Not a very pleasant experience
Block of rooms bordered by high walls ( the rear one topped by a fence).
Hence the only view was fro. The rear bifold doors less than a metre away from the wall.
To obtain any ventilation the only opening was a door integral to the bifold.Hence , the choice was fresh air or personal security.
The shower tray was cracked and dirty inside and one out.
The duvet was flimsy enough to be a sheet.
The pillows were hard. The mattress was hard.
'No alternative room available' we were told.
We left early and skipped breakfast.
We emailed the manager to register our complaint. We received no reply. We emailed the brewery and received an automatic reply reply (chain pub).
We emailed the brewery again at a later date and were told that they never received our complaint.Replied saying 'surprised because we had received an automatic reply and that we would send details again and requested that tgey read our review) Today sent the full complaint again to the manager of the White Hart together with photographs.Sent the photographs also to Butscome Brewery. This room was advertised as comfy and modern!!!
We have requested a refund and await events.
The recently apponted manager of the White Hart has just emailed me , 3.40pm on the date of this review.
He has written a full and unreserved apology and authorised a full refund. We hope, as he intends, that he is able to turn this business round and the future shows i
more positive reviews from travellers.
Warm and welcoming pub, the food was good with a great variety on the menu including a vegetarian option. The room was well furnished, had a country feel, spotless, and very clean bathroom. The shower was powerful and hot with various sized towels and toiletries. The bed was comfortable. Coffee and teas in room (ask at the bar for milk as no fridge in the room). Will definitely stay again when passing through.
Positively the worst B&B we have ever visited, in terms of bathrooms.
Bathroom so disgusting in Room 3, but Trustpilot do not allow photos.
Bed mattress springs were pushing through top of mattress.
Toilet/water pump continuous through night every 2-3 minutes.
Smoke alarm green light flashing continuously through night.
Cobwebs on smoke alarms
In immediate need of refurbishment
Paper thin walls, you could hear occupants either side banging doors.
Do not use this Pub, to sleep at.
Breakfast was brilliant
The menu promised so much. Our family decided to go for a roast dinner and were very much looking forward to it. One veggie, one vegan, the rest meat eaters. The vegan dinner was sad - no vegan Yorkshire puds, no cauliflower cheese so there's two sides missing, no substitutes offered so very little food on the plate because the veg portions were a couple of pieces of carrot, three pieces of potato and a small pile of leaks containing two or three tiny flecks of kale :( The vegan and veg dinner promised a 'mushroom wellington', this was so disappointing. It was a bland, brown rubbery slab of beans and mushrooms, no pastry so er...not a wellington of any description. Awful, awful, awful food. Service not good. No baby changing facilities. Baby had to be changed in the restaurant after doing the first change on a table-top in the closed skittle alley, not good. We had to sit with the curtains closed because the sunlight was too strong so basically, dark and dingy, yuk food, over sold and under delivered. Expensive. No deductions were offered despite the sad, sparse vegan meal provided. No comments despite the fact that a lot of the food had been left.
I attended a Christmas get together at The White Hart. To play skittles and have a buffet. Skittles were good fun. The food however was NOT what I expected for £7.95 per head x 25.
We had one vegan, one veggie and one dairy free, these were confirmed 3 weeks before event and was to be 'no problem'
There were small very dry pork pies cut in quarters and equally dry sausage rolls cut into small pieces, sandwiches - ham & tomato, cheese & onion and tuna & something, all on the same platter (the cheese and onion were for the veggies apparently, but were on the same plate as meat and fish!!!!) there was NOTHING for the vegan. We were told that all the bread had been buttered and they asked what could they give the dairy free........ who ended up with a ciabatta roll a few chips and some garnish from the sandwich tray!!! They bought out what looked and tasted like frozen veg in some sort of batter, obviously not dairy free or vegan.
Absolutely appalled by the lack of response from the assistant manager when we had confirmed our dietary requirements well in advance.
Would I recommend, absolutely not.
We paid for 25 covers only 20 showed up, and one had nothing. Disgusting.
