I have used White Smoke for many years. It is a very effective program to check all your documents, including emails and online submissions before you send them. Before I used WS, I would later review something I sent, and would be embarrassed, of some typos or poor grammar usage. I have also recommended this program to many of my family and friends. All who have purchased it, have been very glad they did. I highly recommend you try it.

UPDATE: they did not wanted to refund me in any way, so in the end the srsly amazing stuff at PayPal sorted things out and forced them to refund me. I invested at Grammarly, five stars.

My advice is: do not buy!!!!

The software does not work the way it should. It is buggy, it mixes the text itself ... in short, it does not work well.

I kindly asked for a refund, followed all the instructions and explained the reason for my decision. I also provided a screenshot of the error screen. No answer for two days. None.

I will start the process with PayPal and also with my credit card company.

I want my money back!

I bought the lifetime white smoke and now they say my code have expired and they don't respond to your emails and don't answer the phone.

They have the worst customer service. I literally wrote 3 tickets to cancel my subscription and despite their assurance of 'replying within 48 hours', they still haven't replied to any of my tickets when it's been a week since I submitted my first ticket! I made a big choice to invest over $80+ to this horrendous company that doesn't even provide a demo version for the new customers to try their product, and now that I'm requesting a full refund, they're completely ignoring my emails! I cannot stand this absolute mistreatment and scam that I've experienced with this company. They literally sucked my money and now refusing to give it back now that i'm requesting a refund. I will be filing a formal complaint with Better Business Bureau. 100% do not recommend. I converted to Grammarly, and I assure you they promise a better customer service and product.

Poor performance for new product, very slow comparing old edition.

Poor customer service. I have been using Whitesmoke software for 3 years, and had no problem with the software and previous issues. However, the customer support is poor, and they are taking a long time to reply my emails.

I think it is an excellent program. I have been using it for years.

WhiteSmoke always supports to me for the recover my poor English capability.

I find Whitesmoke a very good system to correct spelling and improve grammar.
There are a number of flaws.

One, it is orientated towards the American version of English, it does not give alternatives such as English, english. Two, it cannot distinguish too well the differences of the meaning of similar words but with different spellings. Three, it often gives the wrong alternatives to the meaning of a sentence.

It is excellent software; I wish the would respond when one has a question.

The system is generally very good, and I have been a subscriber for many years and will continue to do so in the future.

I purchased Whitesmoke Premium, as it was on special. I use Mac.

Upon downloading it I noted you cannot change the default language of US English to UK English. This is NOT mentioned anywhere on their website.

I use UK English, so this is the first MAJOR issue for me.

Secondly, it was not offering grammatical corrections/suggestions, when very obviously it should have been.

Lastly, it offered incorrect spelling suggestions for the odd word.

Within an hour or two of purchasing Whitesmoke, I realised I'd made a grave error and requested a refund. That was on the 6th of October. An automated response advised I would hear back within a maximum of 48 hours. That was four days ago! Repeated efforts to get a response have failed.

I'm extremely disappointed at the lack of Customer Support and more importantly how poorly this programme performed. It was a big decision to spend US$99.98 for the three-years licence and this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

If anyone can advise how I can get WhiteSmoke to refund me my money, or if there are any formal channels available to get them to respond, please let me know.

I do not suggest the purchase of Whitesmoke and would certainly recommend Grammarly if you can afford it. For now, I will have to settle on Grammarly's free web-based service, as it proved to have far better results than Whitesmoke.

POST SCRIPT: After several days of emailing and finally making a threat to lodge a formal complaint with either the Better Business Bureau or Delaware Justic Department, I FINALLY received notification of a refund.

I found whitesmoke very good grammar checking software, it fixed all of my grammar and spelling mistakes.

White Smoke might be a decent package if it weren't for the glaring limitations. Being limited to 5000 characters is laughable unless you are only checking short emails before sending. It would be better if it warned that the check may be slow due to length of text, at least the user would have a choice. This limitation takes away the advantage of not having to copy and paste as you need to do just that with under 5000 characters (not easy to judge).
If you select the first paragraph you can check a paragraph at a time, but this is painfully slow with most fiction writing where paragraphs are short due to dialogue.
To top it off, the software only knows US English so highlights perfectly good UK English phrases and spellings.
I also hate the subscription system, but when mine runs out it won't bother me as I certainly won't be renewing.

I have used both whitesmoke and grammarly. Compared to Grammarly, the former can only be installed in one computer. It means that after I installed it in the desktop then I won't be able to use it in the laptop. I was advised that I can login each time wherever I want it. But the login system is confusing. Simply, I could not login. Even on the desktop, the software does not necessarily work every time, while press Fn +F2. Automatic translation between English and Chinese is often incorrect. with one or half sentence missing. The worst is the after sale service. The chance to get a reply for the request is very limited and the waiting time is three days the fastest.

Excellent tool to take away all doubt about any typos and sloppy mistakes.

Great grammar checker. It really boosts English writing without breaking and sweat.
