Warning to those considering Widex SmartRic with portable charger, if you require the additional outer-ear support threads to hold the aids in place. After several weeks of experience, dialogue with my specialist and their correspondence with Widex about why my aids were not properly charging, it transpires (now apparently confirmed by Widex) that the charger may not work properly if support threads are attached. They can cause the aids to lift out of their charging bay (mine often only charge to 80-90 pc, don't fully power off, and whistle when in the charger). I'm told this wasn't identified by Widex in the product testing phase, which says something about Widex R&D standards. They are nice aids otherwise but my advice obviously is to look elsewhere if you need the extra ear support threads to hold the aids in place, because you wont get the full functionality of the portable charger.
AND a word on the WIDEX app, which is needed to adjust volume and settings. Font sizes for eg battery levels are so tiny I need to take a screenshot and expand it just to read the battery levels! Willing to bet a huge percentage of Widex users have eyesight issues too. This appears to be a company that doesn't bother to test its products and apps on real users.
