THE WILD PHEASANT & spa

THE HOTEL WAS UNDER STAFFED AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET PROPER SERVIVE [except in the bars} we were going to have breakfast and evening meal but after the poor and over cooked breakfast we decided to eat in the town [which turned out to be the right choice, better food and not so dear} I sent a letter to the hotel 3 weeks ago and they have still not bothered to reply.

Sunday lunch

Very disappointing with the moment of arrival . Very small eating area, freezing cold . The menu was confusing and you can go big on the carvery. Basically for example its £ 18.00 for dinner but for £24.00 you get extra mash, roasters, yours hire pud . Not worth eating there. Seemed very disorganised , better of with a meal deal sadly . Now, when you have a little left over from dinner ,some maybe take a little meat home for their pet . Check this out. Your made to sign a bit of paper to take it . Lol who thought of that one then . Won't be going again

Cancellation

I was booked to go today for a couple of nights. Unfortunately my 1year old granddaughter was rushed to hospital with a life threatening illness. Ok I cancelled an hour late but I'm still going to receive a fine for late cancellation. I even offered to book a later date and explained my reasoning but to no avail.

Spa Review – Extremely Disappointing Experience

I was really looking forward to this spa morning as it was a gift for my mum, but unfortunately the experience was far from relaxing.
The reception area felt tired and uninviting, with blankets thrown over the sofas. This was also the same space where manicures and pedicures were carried out, which meant the environment didn’t feel calm or spa‑like at all.
The female changing rooms were very cold, which set the tone for the rest of the visit.
The spa water was only warm at best, and it was easy to get cold even while in it.
The sauna was barely warm - certainly not hot enough to work up a sweat, which defeats the purpose of having one.
The steam room was inconsistent. It would fill with steam briefly, then drop off completely, taking a long time to heat up again.
Overall, the temperature throughout the spa was uncomfortably cold. Many other guests commented on the same issues, with several leaving early because they were so uncomfortable.
We raised our concerns with the manager, but the response was dismissive. We were repeatedly told that the facilities were operating at the “correct temperature,” despite the clear discomfort of multiple guests.
We were offered a voucher to return, but were told the temperature would be the same, which made the offer feel pointless.
We asked if we could have our afternoon tea earlier, as we would otherwise have had to wait an hour and a half. We were told the kitchen wasn’t open, so we cancelled and had to go elsewhere at an additional cost.
This was meant to be a relaxing, warm, welcoming morning for my mum and me. Instead, it was cold, uncomfortable, and disappointing from start to finish.
A spa should leave you feeling refreshed - not counting down the minutes until you can leave.
Dreadful experience.

Lovely Hotel in a nice setting

Lovely Hotel in a nice setting, room very clean and comfortable. Staff excellent, very polite. No sign of any vendettas as mentioned in another review, breakfast was very adequate with a good selection.
Would definitely come again

Worst hotel stay.

The staff do their best but they’re fighting a losing battle. From a hot tub spa which appears to be an actual health hazard, to spider infestation, faulty toiletries holder (resulting in injury), heaters I’d be scared to turn on, inedible breakfast and a failing hotel management this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had hotel-wise.
On the upside, the staff were amazing and assisted me at every turn to the best of their ability and the evening meal was excellent.

Booked the penthouse to find a spa lid which was actually green with old, established mould. Couldn’t bear to spend more than 8 minutes in it for fear of some infection. Couldn’t replace the lid because it was so torn & damaged and there was no frame for holding/moving the lid.
No toiletries by the bath and faulty toiletries holder in the disgusting shower resulting in personal injury.
Spiders at every turn - which I thought was just me until I read another review for the same month - it seems there’s an infestation in that room.
The room heater was so badly damaged I was just grateful we didn’t need to turn it on.
Not able to charge anything to the room, despite reception confirming we were on the system.
Breakfast was inedible. Worst I’ve experienced at a hotel possibly ever. Though the staff themselves were outstanding.
The night receptionist is outright offensive. Maybe she’d had a bad night but she was outright rude.
We had a different room for the second night (hence the interaction with the night receptionist). Upon checking in, we were greeted with poo in the toilet and only one set of towels between us.
Manager impossible to contact, after our stay - had to resort to emailing head office just to get a reply.
I love to leave a good review and always prefer to report issues directly so that issues can be rectified. In this case, I was fobbed off and dismissed. I wasn’t seeking a free stay, just that issues be acknowledged and rectified. The hotel group clearly does not value its guests. I’d recommend staying elsewhere.

Incredible Stay

Such a stunning hotel. Lovely little spa and incredible food. Everyone was friendly. Everything was extremely clean and tidy. I couldn't state one thing that was wrong. 100% recommend and will be back!

No where to sit round the pool as the few beds had towels on. There was only a chair with mould on. There was no changing rooms or disabled facilities.
Staff were brilliant but disappointed with afternoon tea only 3 small finger sandwiches and very small pieces of cake.

No wifi in bedroom

No wifi in bedroom . We stayed in room 220 . We could not get the hotel wifi unless you stood in hall . You could not access your own network . Its hard to plan days out with no wifif. We made a mistake with our 2 night booking and turned up a day late . We asked if we could stay another night . There is a card in bedroom that says 50 pound for an extra night if your room is available. They said 175 for an extra night ! Not worth that . We had an evening meal and started with soup. Nice soup but only one ladel full in the bowl .For the main my husband had lamb and he said it was amazing . My meal was ok .As a vegetarian the standard dish is risotto. There is a vegan menu but again it's pasta or curry . Limited pudding choice and death by chocolate is not that nice .The rooms are ok . Shower was nice . No temperature control for heating and it was a little chilly We didn't use the spa but should have maybe .

Not as good as usual

We have visited many times and usually we have a great time but today we were told only sandwiches and salad were available because there was a wedding, the salad consisting of chopped lettuce and 5 pieces of squid on top with one half of cucumber. Then our shoulder neck and scalp massage was awful. Wouldn’t Recommend. No neck a tiny bit of shoulder but only the front and then a lot of playing with my hair and putting oil through it which I specifically asked not to have. Not at all like my previous visits there

Fantastic lunch

This was our first visit since the refurbishment works and what a difference! We went for a lunch in the dining room, the furnishings are very comfortable, excellent service and the menu is a joy to read. I had the avocado and poached eggs and my husband had fish and chips, most enjoyable, cooked and presented to a very high standard - thank you!
