You should use any other booking service apart from Wotif. They have the worst cancellation policy of any company. With late border lock downs etc you'd think they would ditch their cancellation fees but NO - they have increased them. DESPICABLE AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS
Wotif/Virgin COVID flight credit promise reneged.
I booked flights an accommodation via wotif. Due to COVID I cancelled the package according to the published special cancellation conditions and using the form provided especially by wotif on their website. The accommodation was refunded by the hotel directly with no issues. I wasn't hearing anything about the flights so I chased it down with wotif. They confirmed via email on multiple occasions that a flight credit was agreed with Virgin Australia and would be provided. The Virgin administration issues had been sorted by then too.
Now, when I try to book the replacement flights wotif tell me that virgin is claiming we "no showed" for the flight. This is ridiculous because a) I submitted the cancellation well beforehand and received confirmation and b) the flight was cancelled.
Incidentally, I had other bookings with virgin and had no problem at all getting the credit. As a flight booking agent wotif is not good enough.
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. Booked four nights in a hotel in Townsville Australia between 31st Dec and 4th Jan with advertised free cancellation and change of dates (did this as I knew there would be a possibility we would need to change). Logged into the app today to change dates to 31st Dec-3rd Jan only to find they had split our trip into two itineraries/bookings (31st Dec- 1st Jan & 1st Jan-4th Jan), with the second part non refundable or changeable. So two different policies for two sections of the trip?! Rang up as I thought it must be a glitch splitting it into two due to the year changing. Apparently not a glitch - and they will not let me change the date by one day. I made ONE booking not TWO with two different policies!! Why would any sane person do that. This is only made known after you have paid. Very deceptive. I will be taking this to the ACCC and Office of Fair Trading QLD. Will NEVER EVER book with Wotif ever again.
Ripped off
Like many people, I was ripped off by Wotif after booking a hotel in London during the COVID outbreak. Wotif took my booking despite the fact that the hotel was closed due to COVID; Wotif then declined my repeated requests for a refund, claiming they had been unable to recoup the funds from the hotel. This turned out to be false -- I called the hotel, which confirmed they had never received any funds from Wotif for the booking, and had no record of any email exchange with Wotif. On top of that, Wotif offer virtually no avenue for pursuing complaints like this. I would never book anything with this company again.
Absolutely disgusting
Booked holiday with family early this year and due to covid had to cancel holiday in March. Still can not get a refund of $5000 after many complaints and calls by my daughter in law who did the booking. I used to use wotif but never again.

Don’t bother go elsewhere tried to change one night accomodation 11 days in advance customer service number is a robot says it will return your call in an hour and a half it doesn’t tried 4 times waited all day sent an email no communication. Should have gone straight to the hotel and booked they were more than happy to change the date. Wotif takes your money and runs. Plenty more travel companies you can choose. App takes you back to the website website sends you to the app. What a joke. Used other online bookings never had this problem before. Worst customer service and they will take your money and run vote with your feet.
Unpleasant experience
Book with Wotif for accomodation in England for June 2020 unfortunately due to Covid 19 everything was cancelled. Contacted Wotif on at least 10 occasions to get a refund as the hotel cancelled all bookings. Was given the runaround on each occasion that I spoke to them and was reassured that they were contacting the hotel in the UK to get approval from them to refund the money .On no accession did they ever return our calls. The Hotel emailed us 3 times to let us know that they had approved the refund.Finally on the 31st of May spoke to Nachiketa a gentleman from this firm who assured me that he had spoken to his superiors and they had agreed To a refund Which would take 30 working days to come through 2 days later we received a credit coupon from Wotif with 12 months credit to be used in the UK at that particular hotel and that we were not to reply to the email. Travel to the UK before May next year is extremely unlikely and they were fully aware of this. Don’t book anything with this company they are misleading and deceptive which constitutes a breach of the Australian consumer law.Although entitled to a refund they have refused to provide one but have given a worthless coupon which cannot be re deemed.A very unpleasant experience indeed.

Asked for a refund told "No" got a credit with unreasonable conditions that really mean pay more or lose your money. How can someone book an oversea's flight and with no carrier flying be expected to re-book with same origin and destination a condition of re-booking for the credit.
Conflicting emails disgusting customer service and placing the blame on the airline only to find out that they have nothing to do with travel agency bookings.
Have sent complaint to ACCC and now looking into legal action.

Worse experience ever. The staff were unhelpful and I had to cancel my hotel booking due to COVID-19, however because I cancelled 10 days late I had to take a voucher. The hotel was willing to get me a full refund, however Wotif said no. Now I have to deal with them again to use the voucher. They got 1 star only because I could not go any further otherwise they would get 0. Don't use them.

Over the years I have booked lots of holiday packages through Wotif, Expedia and Last minute.com. I usually book 2-3 holidays a year using one of these companies. And have recommended them to family and friends. However after my flights were cancelled by the airline, I'm still waiting for a refund - 12 weeks gone now. Safe to say I will never book with Wotif ever again. Same with its sister companies. They went completely awol when their customers needed them most. They were not contactable via phone, email and social media.

Wating on refund, they say they've sent the refund but the dispute with paypal says there is no evidence i'm getting a refund. They handball you around in emails and try their best to avoid giving the refund. Would not recommend.
BEWARE WOTIF!
Having had a europe trip cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, ALL accomodation was fully refunded via AirBNB, booking.com, WOTIF however, a different story. Not only is there absolutely NO WAY to make contact with them, the toll free. Number advises you can only speak with them up to 72 hours prior to travel. The app says unable to cancel this trip. They have had $1500 of my hard earned since the 24th January. Today is the 15th April. The difference between WOTIF and all the other portals I have used is without comparison. BEWARE of WOTIF, there is something seriously concerning afoot!

We booked a holiday through wotif.com to stay at the First Landing Beach Resort in Fiji between 28/03/2020 & 03/04/2020 but the wedding we were going to and was cancelled as was travel due to Covid-19. The First Landing Beach Resort Hotel agreed to give us a refund due to the circumstances but as the booking was made through wotif.com (a division of Expedia) we were informed our cancellation & refund need to go through them. We cancelled the booking as per wotif.com instructions but were informed by email we would not receive any of the $1674.18 we had paid as full payment. We have sent emails & tried to contact through their contact number Ph 0508 283 864 but after being transferred around and being put on hold for extended periods it appears this is nothing more than a system of evading customer concerns. We have since looked at feedback on line and it would seem this is wotif's modus operandi. We are more than happy to accept they retain their booking fee commission from our payment but to take the full $1600 amount of the accomodation seems unreasonable when one considers this was never passed on to the hotel itself and no service was supplied. Add to this that the government has instructed all New Zealanders to stay in lockdown and the national carrier is not doing flights there seems little way a consumer could use the accomodation unless they were willing to break the law and hire a boat to travel illegally to Fiji.
I don't believe this company is operating in a fair, ethical and reasonable way. We would appreciate your investigation.

We booked all our accommodation through Booking.com except one which we did through this website. This website stated no cancellation fee, no deposit. When we had to cancel due to corona virus, not only did the hotel we booked through this website immediately take the full amount of the reservation from our account, but Wotif says they won't do anything about it. Have reported them and the hotel to our bank. ONLY USE BOOKING.COM! We had NO problems with them or any of the 13 hotels we had booked with them. AVOID THIS WEBSITE.
