Excellent service from Wrights

Excellent service for two watch repairs. Gary is a true expert who gives honest and straightforward advice about watches. Ably assisted by Claire who always looks after her customers in a charming, friendly and capable manner.

Brietling Watch Fix

Looked after my Brietling watch that needed some TLC. Brought it back to life and now back with proud owner! All for a minor inconvenience on the wallet, nice surprise 😁. Super pleased with friendly folks - and Gary did a great job!

Wrights Jewellers Excellent Service & Honest, Very Happy

Visited Wrights Jewellers as I had a couple of watches that needed attention and an old French Mantle clock that needed a service.
Wrights repaired our sons Tag automatic watch and pressure tested at a reasonable price and an extremely fast turn round, we were very pleased.
My wife’s mothers watch an Avia gold mechanical watch, which is kept for sentimental reasons we thought had a fault as it didn’t keep going that long when wound. The gentleman in Wrights had a look at it and said that these watches were difficult to wind fully so we may not have been doing that, he wound it fully for us and said if its still going the same time the following day the watch was fine. The watch was and he has our full gratitude for his honesty and advise.
We had previously taken it to a watch repair place in old town Stevenage who kept it to give us an estimate. They messaged us and said it would cost £460 to repair; we took the watch back but still cost us £60 for the estimate. Thank you Wrights Jewellers
Booked the mantle clock in to be repaired when they have a free slot as they are extremely busy and said they would message me when they were able to fit it in
Would definitely recommend Wrights Jewellers very professional and honest.

IGNORE THE BOGUS REVIEWS!

IGNORE THE BOGUS REVIEWS!! Especially when they are for a different company, in a different country!

I have only ever had hugely postive experiences with Wrights. They are a highly professional, knowledgable and polite team.

They gave me the wrong chain

They gave me the wrong chain as they had lost mine!! Wrong size and weight. Eventually they replaced with a substandard chain of lesser strength and weight. No apologies and no refund. My chain and pendant which used to be valued nearlly at $4,000 now weights in value as $1,600. Very suspicious practice. NO, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. BEWARE!!!!!

Very helpful

Took in my broken gold necklace for repair. Was told a full welded clasp would cost £48 but the link could be closed which should suffice and the cost? - free of charge!!! Was extremely grateful as you don't come across may businesses willing to do something (no matter how small or large) for nothing. Thank you Wrights.

Excellent service

I find the poor reviews on Wrights' to be inexplicable when compared with my own experience over many years.

The staff are unfailingly helpful and knowledgeable.

I have just had a Tissot watch and a bracelet repaired. The repairs were carried out promptly and efficiently. Communication [via text message] was exemplary. My watch was returned to me 'as new'.

Go Here First

Absolutely over the moon about these jewellers who were recommended to me. The people at Wrights were extremely friendly, knowledgable, competent and helpful: I cannot recommend them highly enough. Use them if you are within striking distance.

The clasp on my special titanium watch given to me by my wife as a silver wedding present 27 years ago had snapped, and a different local jeweller (who is said to be a Seiko specialist) said nothing could be done with the bracelet and I would have to have a leather strap fitted instead. But I went to Wrights, and 2 days later they phoned to report that they had obtained and fitted a replacement clasp, so the watch and bracelet look and wear exactly as before.

Really grateful for the recommendation to go there.

Wrights jewellers have always provided…

Wrights jewellers have always provided top notch service, they have repaired my watches, changed batteries, cleaned and dipped my engagement ring and provided so much support and swift service. I’ve been going to them for the last 8 years and will always come back to them - highly recommend

Poor after care

Bought a silver chain which literally snapped whilst I was stood still after only a couple of weeks. Took it back to the shop they examined it and said I had pulled it and that’s how it had broken! Did not appreciated being called a liar. If I had pulled it the of course I would not have returned it. I was stood still when it just fell off my neck. Advised to buy a new one from them as repair would cost more than the chain. Obviously I refused to buy anything else from them as products clearly not of high standard and after care lacking.

I am very sorry that you felt you had been called a liar. Upon examination of your chain, it appeared that some of the round links had become elongated; this tends to suggest some external pressure had been put on it which is why we thought it had been pulled. As discussed on the phone, your chain has been repaired free of charge and is ready for you to collect at your convenience.

I was looking for a local jeweller to repairs my old watches and made the mistake of trying this store

I was looking for a local jeweller to quote on repairs for 2 watches. I left watches. I heard nothing for 4 weeks and had to chase to get a quote. I eventually received a quote almost three times than the quote l had from my regular watch repairer. Naturally, l asked for the return of my watches. On collection they then insisted on charging me £12.50 postage per watch. This was never mentioned that when l dropped the watches. What happened to basic contract law and making the customer aware of charges at the outset of the transaction? I had to pay! Avoid this sore as the service is appalling, their charges are way too high, the service is slow and they do no NOT disclose charges in accordance with English contract law!!!!!!

Avoid

It's such a shame but it's not the same shop it used to be. As a family we've been using the shop for over 20 years and always had good service and work but this is no longer the case. I had a ring resized and they haven't done it properly so there is now a sharp area on the ring then a diamond has fallen out. When I complained they made it clear they didn't care they have done shoddy work and had no intention of repairing their work. All they would say is that is that work is done at your risk, so if you take your ring there it's at your own risk. My advice is find a reputable jeweller and avoid them like the plague.

Edited to add after the response below:
It's a shame you didn't show any of that sentiment in your email or when I visited your shop. That fact you chose to answer this review and not contact me directly when you have my email and phone number and know exactly who I shows that you are more interested in what people think than actually resolving the issue. I feel sad for Mr Wright that you are ruining his reputation.

I am very sorry that you feel this way. When you came into the shop with your ring yesterday we suggested that we book it in for our jeweller to examine more closely with a view to having it ready as soon as possible. We had every intention to assist you but the ring was not left with us then.
We do care passionately about our customers and offering a service to them that is both pleasurable and professional, and which is honest in the assessments that are made on customers' jewellery that needs repairing. Each repair is individual and every piece of jewellery that needs repairing is examined carefully and an assessment given as to what we can offer to effect a reliable repair. We guarantee our repairs but occasionally a customer is forewarned of the implications of effecting a repair.
The shop is still run by Mr Wright, with the same values that have been in place for 55 years.
I do hope that you can come back into the shop so that we can move this forward for you.
