Excellent proofreading and copy editing course
I just wanted to say what a great course this is; especially if you are new to proofreading/copy editing. All the modules of the course are sent to you in a folder and everything is explained very well. I also had a fine tutor, Sara Mace, whose superb comments and advice helped me to successfully finish the course. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in proofreading and copy editing.

A creative writing journey
The Comprehensive Creative Writing Course was a fantastic experience. It not only improved my writing abilities and confidence to take on different writing challenges, it also gave me various practical strategies for pitching my work to editors and getting my stuff published. A very worthwhile apprenticeship!

Writers Bureau poor
Got to be the worst course I have ever tried. I started many years ago when it was advertised that if you didn’t earn the course fees they would be refunded, then they changed the rules. My tutor gave me no encouragement, totally demoralised me to the point where I haven’t finished the course. Think I may of had 3-4 modules to go. Felt so demoralised that I threw the stuff in the bin! Word of warning, avoid at all costs

Very good course. Good assignment papers and folder with very useful information regarding the course work.
Proofreading and copy editing course
Excellent course! The course includes comprehensive notes, with self-marked tests, and a number of tutor-marked assignments. The submissions are marked promptly and detailed feedback is provided to assist your learning.
Course materials are of top quality
Course materials are of top quality. It has been built maticulusouly and keeping in mind the goal to fulfill the aspiration of the students to become a writer. But I am afraid that to take full advantage of this course one has to be stationed in Great Britain.

Choosing the Writers Bureau was the right selection..
I have a top notch tutor in David Kinchin. He returns marked assignments within 48 hours. I am completing the course at a very slow pace and have to register for another year to complete the course. I am studying part-time by correspondence and will write exams in October. Next year I will devote six to eight hours a day to writing. I have a very high opinion of the college and the course. I am grateful I have made the right choice in selecting the Writers Bureau.

You Want To Write? This is the Course to Join.
This is a two year course that can be done at your own pace. The comprehensive writing manual is informative and easy to read, covering every aspect of writing that you would possibly want to know. You are allocated a tutor who is just a phone call away. My tutor has been quick to reply and mark assessments. Her replies and suggestions are always written in a friendly and encouraging way, and if you join the Twitter group there are other hopeful writers giving their input. From telephone calls to emails any staff member I have been in touch with has been friendly and helpful. Competitions are run periodically. I would personally recommend The Writers Bureau to anyone wanting to be a published writer.
For me personally, it is maybe not the right course. Sadly I lack the drive or desire to be published. I love writing, and would prefer to write what I want and maybe send to a magazine. The company are kindly looking at options to meet my needs. I have enjoyed what I have achieved so far, and if possible hope to carry on with them in a slightly different way.

Excellent Proofreading Course
The Proofreading and Copy editing course has been very challenging and really tested my understanding of spelling, grammar and punctuation. Nevertheless, it was highly enjoyable. A fairly advanced knowledge of the English language is required to complete this as those with only a basic skill level may struggle. The course materials were set out in a very well written manual. Some sections did require several 're-reads' in order for new learning to embed. Feedback from the tutor after each assessment was excellent and the 'model answer' that was subsequently provided was good to receive as it enabled me to check precisely where my errors were.

Can anyone answer this question please regarding timescales.
Hi, can anyone advise me with the complete writers course how long this actually takes to do ( on average ). Whilst I am aware I would have up to two years to complete and everyone works at different speeds I wanted to get an idea of my commitment time over an average month bearing in mind there are a considerable number of assignments to submit. A greater depth of understanding this in line with how long is an assignment with timescales will help me decide if this is the best course for me to sign up to.
Looking Backwards
To put this in context, I did do this some years ago, when everything was by correspondence, i.e. by post. (There is a reason why I've left it for a while.) As with most contributors, I found the course interesting and the feedback supportive and constructive.
In my case, I didn't earn much in the 'guarantee' period, but it would have been churlish to claim a refund. I was already quite a useful writer and, more to the point, I was soon engaged in a long project, writing a textbook, so I had stopped doing much more 'relevant' writing.
And here I am, maybe some 12 or so years later. The original textbook was self-published, but it led to two conventionally published books; once they know you can write well and sustainably, then they will... Shortly after that, I was in negotiations with major publishers about similar textbooks. However, at that stage I had the confidence to see a bad deal when I saw it, and created my own publishing house. Once you have been published once or twice, you get to know what to do. Now I make more in a month than I did in a year with conventional publishers, and more adoptions by universities promise increased revenues soon.
In short, as I'm sure Writers Bureau continue to advise, it is still up to the writer to earn his or her bread. Each must pursue their own path. But the advice you are given is genuine. If you are reasonably literate, it can be done...

I am enjoying the course but am not even half way through it, so find it strange to be asked to review it at this stage!
