Chair worked great until it didn't!!

Chair worked great until it didn't!!! The small handle that control the backrest position partially broke and the backrest does not stay fixed in the vertical position any longer; neither the mid rest position. I reached out to tech support and was told that the part isn't sold separately and that I would have to purchase an entire new seat, which was a third of the price I paid for the chair and truly wasteful since my seat is working fine. Anyway, I am "X"ing the XChair from my list of products and regret dearly the purchase of the product.

Lumbar support falls down, screws fall out

The lumbar support falls down with a thump upon getting up from the chair. Screws keep falling out on the floor no matter how much they are tightened. Arm rests are uncomfortable and cause elbow pain. Wish I had looked at TrustPilot before purchasing.

Causes bad low back pain

I bought the X3 with heat and massage a couple years ago. The chair has the features it claims to have, but do NOT purchase if you have back pain or want to avoid back pain. The lumbar support is WAY too low, even when adjusted to it's maximum position, and I'm only 5'6! It, in NO WAY, hits at the small of your back to support the lumbar. This forces your into a position that causes low back pain. Like - can't stand up, can't get out of bed kind of pain. Avoid.

Disappointed

I spent $1500 for an X4 office chair that’s just not very comfortable. The seat adjustments are not easy to manipulate. The ELEMAX heating/cooling/massage is a complete waste of money and is only on the lumbar area of the chair. There are no perforations in the seat back for cooling air flow and the “message” is basically a vibration. The $200 memory foam seat option feels like standard foam material, nothing special. The arm rests are hard, not padded, which I would prefer now that I am using the chair. The best part of this chair so far are the FS wheels.

Piece of garbage!

I wish I had seen all these reviews before buying this
Over priced chair. The “Massager” which does nothing but vibrate, broke after the first month. I got a replacement, however trying to get it back in place was nearly impossible. Now I’m stuck paying for a chair that is nothing like advertised.

Overpriced garbage

Overpriced garbage. X4 arrived with damaged arms. Company tried twice to send replacements and sent the wrong arms each time. This third time they said they were sending another set and then have gone silent and ghosting requests for the parts or a refund. Even without damage the build quality is poor and the chair is uncomfortable. Complete waste of money and incompetent customer service.

Wow! Me too, but — situation rectified!

My initial thought: Wow, do I ever wish I had read these reviews before buying! Placed an order just days ago but I am already seeing the very same problems with customer service that others mention. Cancel the order to upgrade for memory foam? Oh, we'll ship it to you first and you can just send it back. Ya, right. Looks like I'm another sucker taken in by this shady, shifty company.

Update, 11/15/23: A member of senior management from X-Chair has reached out to me to resolve the issue I encountered, cancelling the order and refunding the purchase price due to the 'conflicting information' I was given by employees while trying to resolve this issue. I'll see how this plays out over time but for the moment I am going to upgrade my rating by two stars, from one to three.

Resolution; December 4, 2023: Well the intervention by the senior management of X-Chair did indeed result in my getting the refund I requested WITHOUT having to receive and then return the chair. Hey, it's an 80 lb. chair and I live on the fifth floor of a walk-up! I'm in great shape for 63 but, really — I just wanted to change the order so the cushion was memory foam! Anyway, after getting my refund, I decided to give them another chance and re-ordered to the configuration I wanted — which costs more but, that's the chair I wanted.

It took a little while to ship, maybe a week, but that's not unreasonable. It arrived today, and it is without a doubt the very best, most comfortable chair I have ever had the pleasure to sit in. It's GREAT! No issues with shipping, no defects in the chair, just a really comfortable, premium quality chair. There was a cancellation/re-stocking fee for cancelling my original order but, this chair is fantastic and apart from that "we'll ship it to you and you can return it for a refund" approach that they use with everyone, I'd say this chair and this company is a solid choice.

My final assessment: a full Five Stars.

Bit of a disclaimer here: I spent a good portion of my life as an environmental activist so I do not hesitate to take on any company over an ethical issue, no matter how big they are — and I do escalate (as a post-structural philosopher who specializes in linguistics and communications theory) without flinching so, your results with issues like this might not lead to senior management intervening they way that happened for me.

Warranty/Repair Leaves Something To Be Desired

My wife bought me this chair in March of 2022. Pricey, but aesthetically it's nice and the ventilation is a neat gimmick. Comfort wise, it's average. Certainly doesn't blow me away. By October the piston started slowly leaking air and then would randomly drop to the bottom. I would raise it, it would stay up for a bit and then drop all over again. I reached out to support and they willingly sent me a replacement piston, as well as a charger for the ventilation as that was missing from the original shipment. My hope was this was just a bad unit and the new piston would do the trick. Well, replacing the piston is a complete pain and inconvenience. The instructions suggest a pipe wrench and heavy hammer. Certainly tools that every executive office has readily available...
Anyway, after reading the instructions and realizing that between not having the necessary tools, officemates I didn't want to disturb, tenants on the floor below us, etc., replacing it at the office wasn't feasible. So, for the last almost year, I've just dealt with the randomly lowering. It finally got so bad that it was happening constantly I brought the necessary tools to the office and did the swap. Their instructions are deceptive, as the force with which you have to strike the old piston to dislodge it is insane. I would up having to use a full sized sledgehammer. The new piston is in and so far it's holding the position. For $2,000, in my opinion, there are more comfortable options and, options that likely are better built. If this repair holds then I suppose I just got unlucky with the first piston. However, for the money, a replacement should have been offered in lieu of having the customer repair it. If I could return it, I would, as I don't trust that this piston is going to last. Had they offered a swap I'd feel differently about the experience.

This chair is a POS! DO NOT BUY!

This chair is a POS! The first delivery was a torn up box with pieces everywhere. After having to argue with them and sending pics, they accepted that it was their fault. They wouldn't send me a new chair UNTIL the old chair made it back. Telling me if the chair got lost in transit, I'd be liable. The new chair had a minor piece that didn't fit. The chair slowly slides down, isn't anymore supportive than any other office chair. Headrest is basic, armrests are basic, and the "cooling/heating" function is nearlyu useless. The lower back support is basic and really doesn't do much.

ZERO STARS

ZERO STARS. It is pretty astounding that I pay over $1000 for a chair and $100 for an accessory and the exchange process is horrible compared to other companies. You would think that customer service would look after their customers better when selling THOUSAND-dollar products. I have to pay my own shipping to send back a "massage" unit that looks and feels like a wish.com vibrating piece of foam. Unreal. The unit also looked used! Scuffs on the plastic covering and lint on the foam. I also wanted to UPGRADE to the memory foam seat and they want to charge a $150 restocking fee. None of this has been worth my time or money.

The chair itself is NOT even that comfortable. My IKEA chair was just as good as this one(X3). I am ashamed of myself for not reading these honest reviews sooner.

I tried talking to customer service and I got the "sorry these are our terms" runaround. They offered me a footrest for my troubles. A footrest. No thank you. I should have read their terms better before spending an arm and a leg on their products. They win this one, shame on me. But I hope people become aware that they sell way overpriced products and have sneaky terms. Please read other reviews and be warned. I am a customer service rep myself and I NEVER write reviews but come on X chair, this is a failure.

I am really longing for INTEGRITY to…

I am really longing for INTEGRITY to come back to businesses. They misled me when I ordered the chair 3 weeks before Christmas it would be delivered on time. It wasn't. It was to be a big gift for a hard working family member. Despite assurances, I didn't even get a tracking number until weeks later. But the worst part, was that the chair itself was no better than my $100. office chair. IT WAS NO BETTER! for $800.! Plus the heat and air conditioning feature was so weak you could barely feel them. What a joke. I am in the process of returning it which will cost me a few hundred in restocking fees and maybe more after I get through all the fine print. I'm just so tired of getting ripped off. I read so many great reviews that I swear are paid for. It's just sad.

Long Delays and Poor Customer Support

The 1 star is a courtesy for 3 of the friendly out of 7+ representative members I spoke to. Took 2.5 months for my chair to arrive. I swear I was being so patient because everyone gave me false promises of:

"Don't worry, it'll ship out this week!"
"I am sending this to the warehouse and we will prioritize your order."
"I am escalating this to management."

Honestly, it was so frustrating and exhausting. I went through so many phone calls and emails. Turns out? My chair was out of stock and there was no notification about it. I waited 1 full month of no communication until I had to reach out to figure out what is going on. Save yourself the wild chase here and purchase some other reputable brand name chairs. I wish I had.

Really wish there was a 0 star option

Really wish there was a 0 star option. The entire buying process was a nightmare. The chair was in stock but took nearly 3 months to arrive. Got a small refund as a result. I paid extra for the chair to arrive full built. However, there were still pieces that were shipped to me piecemeal despite paying $200 for this. Once the chair arrived, it was damaged and they eventually sent me replacement parts but would not refund me the "fully assembled" fee. Additionally, the uninstalled parts didn't fit, and all I got from them was a link to a troubleshooting video. I told them I would just send it back because of all the issues, and they said they wouldn't accept it without a $150 restocking fee, despite all the issues that were THEIR fault! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Horrible product, horrible shipping, deceptive marketing, terrible customer service.
