I visited Per Tutti Harpenden with my son expecting a nice evening and a quality meal. What we got was far from restaurant standard – frankly, not even cheap pub food standard.
The ribeye steak – described on their own menu as “locally sourced, seasoned with rock salt & freshly ground black pepper, perfectly cooked to your liking… wonderful rich flavour & very tender.”
What arrived was clearly not ribeye. No marbling, no tenderness, no rich flavour – just a dry, chewy, flavourless piece of meat that could have been any cheap cut. Completely misleading.
The Pollo Saltimbocca – described as “pan-fried chicken supreme wrapped in parma ham with lemon & butter sauce, served with sautéed green beans, spinach & garlic.”
In reality: dry, overcooked chicken breast, salty bacon (certainly not Parma ham), a thin watery sauce with no taste of lemon or butter, and a pile of untrimmed beans dumped on the plate. No spinach, no garlic, no care.
Even the bottled lager was served warm – which says everything about the lack of basic standards.
The whole meal was so poor I refused to pay the service charge. To make matters worse, I felt unwell afterwards.
I wrote to Per Tutti head office and directors requesting a refund, but received no response. That silence says it all about how much they value their customers.
This was meant to be a special evening with my son. Instead, it was ruined. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here.
UPDATE AFTER SEEING THIS : We would like to emphasise that we are committed to maintaining the quality of our food and service, and feedback such as yours is taken seriously. We only ask that this process be carried out with mutual respect.
Normally, we allow ourselves 24 hours to review our practices, assess the standards of the food and service, and conduct a proper investigation before issuing a full report in response. However, in this case, given the circumstances, it is clear there is no point in pursuing that process. It is equally clear that we are not the restaurant for you.
