I've been a customer of Yankee Candle for 30 years. I did instantly notice the shift in the intensity of the scent when they did their Rebrand. But I think what disturbs me even more is how my favorit... See more

Yankee has been going downhill for…
Yankee has been going downhill for years! Four stores in my city have closed, candles aren't what they used to be, now stopping the Boney Bunch Halloween for the first time this year! It's like they want to skip Halloween! 🤷♀️😱 Super disappointed! No reason to go anymore to the last store standing in this city! 👎👎👎
Abysmal Online Inventory Management
I have been a YC customer for many years. I recently ordered some pumpkin spice diffuser refills along with a few other scents from their website. After two days, I get an email that the pumpkin spice scent was not available and they cancelled them from my order, refunding the difference and sent the other items. I looked at their website and they were still selling the pumpkin spice refills. I called customer service line and after many holds, transfers, I get an overseas agent at third party call center. The agent confirmed that they are in fact now available so I ordered them again through her. After a day, I get another email that they are not available and they cancelled/refunded the order. Their online inventory management is abysmal at best, buyer beware. I will NOT be shopping at YC again.
Poor excuse for customer service
Yankee candles do not care about their customers in the slightest. I have placed several large orders over the last few months for gift baskets that I give away and also donate for charity raffles. Nearly every order has had an issue. I received melted wax melts, broken candle jars and cracked wax melts. When there was minimal damage, I did not complain. However, several orders had everything just thrown in a box with no protection or packing. Tumbler candles just stacked loosely next to each other and there for banging into each other. Each time, I have taken pictures and sent to customer service. I have always offered to return the items. Last week, I received an order that contained alot of mini candles. They were in multiple boxes, some of them were packed well and arrived safely but 2 of the boxes again had no protection and the candles were just left to smash into each other during shipping. I contacted customer service, shared the pictures. They did not ask me to return them. Today, I received an email stating that my "warranty claim" had been cancelled. Basically even though they did not pack the items correctly multiple times they say I have had too many returns and they will not replace all the broken items unless I return them. I have no issue with returning them but 1. they want me to pay the shipping--its not my fault they do not train their employees to properly pack the items. 2. You should have asked for them to be returned instead of approving it. Since it was a box full of sharp, tiny pieces of glass when they did not want them back, I disposed of them so nobody got hurt. Nobody just keeps broken glass around. Needless to say, I will be finding some place else to buy items to fill my donation baskets. Yankee candle does not care about their customers.
Candles are very much below standards…
Candles are very much below standards in regards to fragrance and burn capabilities. Will not use this site again for purchases. No or little fragrance along with wick does and can not keep candle burning. Total waste of time and money.
Never received item
I ordered a fairly expensive plug-in during my last order of about $125. When the package arrived it was missing the $15 plug in. I contacted them and heard back a few days later that I needed to send a picture of the box it arrived in and get the order slip from the delivery driver. Why either of these things is needed in order to even discuss them shipping out the missing plug in, is beyond me. It had been several days and I had already recycled the box and had no idea how to contact the ups driver for a copy of this. I had been a loyal customer for many years, and never again. I’ve never made any claim in previous shipments or returns. Typically a company would ship the item if it was missing from the order, not make me jump through hoops to prove I didn’t receive the item.
Ordered 2 candles on August 22nd
Ordered 2 candles on August 22nd. It’s August 28th and they still haven’t even shipped. Customer service refused to help at all. Once they get your money they couldn’t care less what happens
Unwelcome
I visited Yankee Candle in Chandler Fashion Mall (AZ) on Friday and was warmly greeted by a woman with blonde hair. Wonderful. However, as I was browsing, I noticed in the reflection of the stores glass, a woman with long brown hair was watching my every move. Now, I didn’t end up purchasing anything, but I definitely felt that my presence was not welcome there. Her behavior was disrespectful, and she clearly thought I’d put something in the tiny purse I carry on my body. Her staring was uncomfortable and made me leave even quicker, without allowing me to browse the rest of the store. This was completely unnecessary.
I cant beleve the bad reviews on here
I cant beleve the bad reviews on here! I’ve bought Yankee candles for a long time ,and their melts. And then I have bought other candles from high-end companies paid good money for them and they turned out to be the stinkiest sense! Yankee candles have the best sense you always know what you’re getting! I don’t mind paying money for good quality things! So thank you Yankee candle for always being there when I needed a beautiful candle scent!
e-gift card online
Ordered an e-gift card online and the link didn’t work. Contacted customer services, emails back and forth and nobody can tell me why or even try to fix it.
I asked for my money back and still no response.
The customer service, their IT department, the whole email response is terrible.
Never again.
No real customer service decline of product quality
I have complained about the decline of a fragrance. Been offered freebees and I declined. Promised return calls that never happened. Emails speaking of an investigation. When I requested a copy I have been blocked from calling customer service. Alway documenting same info that goes no where. Always grappling to blame the warmer or my sense of smell never holding any accountability. Clearly customers are not valued. They speak of a quality team which I question its existance. Was emailed a “review” I question its authenticity. Think it was typed by the person who sent me the email. Date below is of most recent email. This has been ongoing for two years with the 877 customer service number. Customer service more like poorly trained phone operators.
Incompetent! Unprofessional! Inconsiderate!
Hands down the most unprofessional and inconsiderate people ever! I placed an order online and did “pick up in store”. It gave me an estimated time of 2 hours. I showed up 4 hours later to see where they were at with it since I didn’t receive a “ready for pickup” email. The store was extremely slow and I asked the girl working there about the order. She said “oh we don’t have that order in our system”. I showed her my email and she saw that it was the correct store and all the other info. The order number was right there as well. Both her and her manager decided to tell me that they can’t do anything since it’s not in their system yet…you have the order number right there along with all the details and you’re telling me you can’t do s*** about it? Yea needless to say I was not very happy! They proceeded to tell me how “their” system is different from the “online” system..you’re still Yankee Candle and it’s your responsibility to fulfill online orders which you failed to do. Never going back to this location again! Sorry Yankee, you need to pay attention to who you hire.
Disappointing new low
The AI they have handling customer service emails is laughably bad. To the point that I'm offended they want me to talk to it. Things have been going downhill since Kittridge sold in the first place but Newell is the final gigantic nail in the coffin. It's honestly disrespectful what they've done to the brand. Yankee Candle used to mean quality, now they're literally the same as I can get at walmart but worse because they're 6x the cost. The flagship store was in shambles the last time I went in. No respect for the building, or the brand, just a quick buck.
Yankee performs well with the ordering…
Yankee performs well with the ordering and delivery aspect. But man their candles and the superb scents seem to have dipped pretty drastically over the last 10 years. I love them. They are creative and interesting. But a large candle should fill a small room with scent.
DONT SHOP THEIR ONLINE STORE
I would give this place zero stars if I could. Love the products, hate the actual ordering and customer service. I order 24 things and waited for about 6 days when they told me that they canceled more than half my order and took away my 20% coupon!!! Told them to cancel the whole order then and they said "they couldn't make changes" then how did you cancel more than half my order if you cannot make changes? Then another 2 days later i get another email stating they cancelled more products and i have been charged separately. In the end i received 10 items out of the 24 I ordered and still paid almost the original total because they took away my 20%!!! Don't shop with these people!
I have received my birthday candle broken.
I have received my birthday candle in pieces. The person Mehraj I've been going back and forth with for a week is stuck on the box being delivered. It was delivered with a shattered candle inside. The only thing that wasn't broken was the box. Three years no problems but now this "Support" person Mehraj has me extremely upset. Do you care?????
The worst
I have never experienced this level of incompetence from such an established manufacturer and retailer or less regard for customer satisfaction. If they can't manage their inventory, they should stay in the brick and mortar space. I placed what was a last minute Christmas present order on Friday Dec 15 (and paid for expedited shipping for receipt in one business day which meant Tuesday), received an email acknowledgment and nothing more until Tuesday morning asking for patience...taking longer than expected blah blah blah. Another email 20 minutes later saying sorry they had to cancel my order - Reason: No inventory. Canceled four days after the order was placed and on the expected delivery date. Apparently an every day thing though. If you can believe it, they actually have "If your order was canceled" on the phone menu. Terrible.
I ordered candles from yankeecandles.ca…
I ordered candles from yankeecandles.ca and my order never arrived. They said my order was delivered. When I queried this and asked for details of delivery company that allegedly delivered, they have continually refused to supply any details.
I have asked for full refund but they are only offering 50%. What can I do? These candles are supposedly being shipped from China.
Opened and damaged when delivered
My wife ordered an advent calendar for our daughter.
When it arrived the box looked a little damaged / used, but inside the box the calendar had all been opened up and the inner packaging was actually ripped open.
Phoned for a new one and all they did was offer 30% off. We said forget it - refund please.
Shockingly poor customer service. Selling used / damaged items as new is criminally incompetent. Judging by all of the one star reviews they deserve to fail as a business.
The Yankee Candle website is impossible
The Yankee Candle website is just impossible. Multiple attempts with two different browsers on multiple dates over a very long period of time and have decided to never try again. Nothing happens when you click on many different places to click, such as the sign in area. Or you scroll down below a page and surprise - the page you want is kind of lurking down below. Garbage website. Attractive - just would be nice if it actually worked.
Got Yanked by Yankee
Placed another order (one of waayyy too many).
One of the items was not included. I contacted Yankee & they finally answered but only to tell me that the item wasn’t available for replacement. Huh??
I’m on your site & it’s in my cart..
She explained that she was unable on her end to see an updated quantity…What in the world??
She then offered a 20% off discount on a $15.50 candle & calculated it twice quoting it was a $4 & change savings bringing it to $11 total.
I said “No, that’s incorrect (twice) she then asked me what I came up with, I told her. She told me she’d calculated it twice but she’d grab a different calculator & try again??
No freaking way…..
It gets better, She was sorry but she was unable to match the price that I paid because that sale ended as she put it ( last July 4).
God help us all!
