Not recommend for electrical issues.

This is a strange one, lovely people, came within 1 hour of my call. BUT: my motorhome not charging, they removed cables and said the main pcb was burned out. Checked the battery with a basic multi meter and said it was charging ok. (This reading was just showing battery voltage though?) And they left!
I subsequently checked the charger, fuse blown and capacitor burned out. Fitted new capacitor and working fine. Cost £4.50.
I was shown an image of a burned, coiled hook up cable and told not to coil mine up. I said it’s not drawing any current? Only to be told that 15 amps is still sitting there?? (Amperage is current and flows depending on what’s connected, it doesn’t ’sit there’!!)
I guess this outfit are fine for basic stuff, but nothing electrical. Oh, and they take a week to answer calls or messages.
They shouldn’t assume that their customers do not have knowledge.
I paid their £90 call out charge within 10 minutes. Money wasted unfortunately!

A no show - just didn’t turn up!

A no show. Just didn’t turn up! This is the second time in a month - the first time is excusable due to the owner being in hospital. Rebooked in for today so I got the caravan out and ready on the driveway. Midday booking, got to 14:00, I tried calling and no answer. Same at 15:00, same at 16:00, same at 16:30… even a text message sent, nothing. One final message was sent advising them that their services are no longer needed and I have instructed another company to service my caravan.

Hi there
I spoke to you on the telephone 19/06/2024 at 13:57 when you requested the 11th July 2024. As soon as it was booked you received a booking confirmation e mail and a reminder 24h before. These are sent from bookings@yatescaravans.co.uk. Unfortunately, we were fully booked yesterday & had no signal from the storage site. I contacted you first thing this morning, but have received no response. Little confused about the review??

Powrtouch Evoloution AWD Motor mover fitting nightmare!

I purchased a Powrtouch Evoloution AWD Motor mover directly from Powrtouch and Yates Caravans were given the job to fit it to my new caravan. My caravan previously had a 2WD motor mover fitted and as my caravan is a twin axle, I wanted greater movability from my caravan, so I paid £2300 to have this product fitted.
I was messed about for a week of not being able to get in contact with Yates Caravans despite various promises of callbacks. I finally got the job booked in, to be let down on the day being given the excuse that their van had broken down on route. I was told that I would not be able to be booked in for another week as the van would take time to be repaired however on complaining directly to Powrtouch, they could suddenly do the job the next day.
Gavin and his wife attended my property and spent the day fitting the motor movers. I heard Gavin constantly knocking the work of the previous Powrtouch installation and his work was apparently far superior. About 2 hours was spent trying to figure out wiring as they motor movers were working against each other and after several phone calls to Powrtouch, it was found that the wiring had been installed incorrectly.
The motor mover was fitted and minimal testing was conducted and their van was on my driveway so the new motor mover could not be put through its paces. The next day I have tested the motor mover and it was constantly jamming and making loud knocking sounds. I spoke to Powrtouch and they went through some basic fault finding with me and advised that Gavin would need to reattend to fault find the issue.
Yates caravans were messaging me on Whatsapp and were asking for multi meter readings of the battery during various cycles and questioning me on its use. They advised me they could not help and to speak to Powrtouch. On speaking to Powrtouch, they advised me that they had already asked Yates caravans to reattend to fault find the problem so were confused why I should contact them.
I have later received a call from Yates caravans to book the rectification work in. 1 week later Gavin has turned up, wouldn’t let me even fully explain the issue without talking over me and proceeded to spend the whole day fault finding the issue. At the end of the day they could not fix the issue and advised Powrtouch would be in contact.
On speaking to Powrtouch, they have made the decision to send an alternative engineer who has attended my caravan and was shocked with the work. The motors had been put on incorrectly and were not lined up, existing cables had been used, cables had been cut where they should have, terminals were loose and not making various connections, cables to the battery terminals were too short, the wires were messy inside, the wires on the underneath of the caravan were not trunked or clipped property and that is only to name a few issues. The engineer who attended was shocked with the installation and spent several hours putting it right. The engineer noted that my caravan wires had also been clipped the same way as the Powrtouch cables had been which should not have been touched. To add insult to injury, the negative terminal cover had been removed and taken and the locker door catch was missing a screw and was not closing.
The issues have been raised internally with Powrtouch however I will not be allowing Yates Caravans anywhere near my caravan and would not recommend them to fix a bicycle let alone a £30,000 caravan! They are a company who service caravans and have struggled to fit a basic motor mover!

Poor experience

Gavin tried to say my caravan had movement in the bulkhead and needed a complete rebuild. He said it was unroadworthy, worthless and a right off due to movement. Then shortly after said he would take it off my hands for a couple hundred pounds for a 10k caravan. There is nothing wrong with my van, he shouldn’t be trading. The manufacturer said that it was highly unlikely, untrue and would be a simple fix, not a complete rebuild like I was told. I’ve received no correspondence back from my previous email, which would have been a simple and easy way to resolve this issue.
Oh, and blocking me on social media isn’t going to make this go away either.

Booked online and impressed with the…

Booked online and impressed with the confirmation e mail I received, it gave very clear details on how to prepare before the appointment. I also received a 24 hour reminder! On the day, I received a text with an estimated arrival time, which was a nice touch.
The annual service was very detailed and the time was taken to not only go through every part of the service of my caravan, but all questions were answered. They did a few additional pieces of work for me and the price was reasonable. I never felt pressured into making a snap decision. I was really impressed and I even managed to relay the information to my partner when she got home. I highly recommend Gavin & Lysa of Yates Caravans. They were recommended to us and I could not fault them.

I have been using Yates Caravans now since they started, six years ago. Both Gavin & Lisa are so kind and accommodating, taking the time to explain anything to me in a way that I can understand. I bought a new caravan two years ago, and they look after this one now to. As they are an Approved Workshop, they are able to maintain my warranty with the caravan manufacturer. Highly recommend them & if you do want to use them, book early as I rebook my annual service in for the following year.

Outstanding service in these unprecedented times

I engaged Yates Caravans services to service my twin axle caravan in readiness for the season ahead. They were outstanding and are taking all the necessary precautions, above and beyond to ensure customer safety during this unprecedented time. They cleaned & sanitised all my caravan before leaving, including the pen to sign the paperwork. Wearing gloves and also strict social distancing. We were very impressed and the level of detail (I sat in the window in the house and watched the service taking place). Thank you and keep safe Gavin & Lisa!

5 stars isn't enough

We had just purchased a second-hand caravan in Oxfordshire and needed to get it serviced quickly so it could be moved down to Devon.
I found Yates Caravan Ltd in an online search and I don't believe that I could have found anyone more efficient and helpful. Lisa kept me informed all the way, and even gave me instructions and pictures of how to remedy the problems that were found. If you are in their area (they are based in Bicester) and need mobile caravan servicing you will not find anyone better - their prices were good too.
