Extremely Disappointed – Losing Money Every Month Despite Promises
We take the contract with Zelfstroom in good faith, based on their promise that I would reduce my energy bills by approximately €31 per month for the next 15 years. This was clearly mentioned during the sales process and even highlighted in their proposal.
However, the reality has been completely different.
I’m paying €42 per month in rental fees for the solar panels, but the actual reduction in my energy bill is significantly less. Here are my monthly bill reductions for the past 7 months:
Jan 2025: €4.45
Feb 2025: €12.22
Mar 2025: €31.99
Apr 2025: €39.23
May 2025: €39.43
Jun 2025: €38.48
Jul 2025: €33.78
Even in peak summer, I am still losing between €5 and €40 every month after paying the rental. When I raised this concern with their customer service, I was initially told that they would help me out. But after following up, they now claim there’s nothing they can do because the panels are generating the "expected amount of energy."
That’s not the point—what matters is that we were sold on the idea that solar panels would reduce our monthly electricity costs, not increase them. Instead, we’re consistently losing money each month, and there seems to be no accountability for the misleading expectations they set during the sale.
I’m extremely disappointed with this experience. Customers invest in solar panels to save money—not to be trapped in a long-term contract where they end up paying more.
