Handmade chairs from Mexico City all the way to New Jersey with excellent service!

I had 6 chairs handmade in Mexico City and Zoomalo was one of the many companies I contacted to get them to New Jersey. They did exactly everything they said they would do. Of course, they couldn't give an exact deadline as they had to cross the border but they told me I would get them and I did. The driver who unloaded them at my house in NJ was so nice and professional. The lady who handled my order was also totally professional and informative. What a great Five Star Company.

My Experience with Long-Term Storage at Zoomalo

I've begun documenting my experience publicly because I believe future customers should have accurate information.
I hired Zoomalo to transport and store my household belongings while my new home in San Miguel de Allende was being completed. I expected my furniture, artwork, books, and personal possessions to be stored in appropriate indoor facilities and handled with reasonable professional care.
Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
My belongings remained in storage for approximately 25 months. When they were delivered, the moving crew asked us to sit down before opening the truck doors. It quickly became clear why.
Many of the cardboard boxes had deteriorated so severely that they could no longer support their own weight. Several collapsed as they were handled. According to the crew, numerous boxes had to be re-packed before delivery because their original containers had disintegrated. As a result, it became extremely difficult to determine where many items belonged or whether everything that had originally been packed was still present.
The condition of the boxes strongly indicated that they had been exposed to the elements for an extended period. They showed extensive deterioration consistent with prolonged exposure to sun, rain, dust, and mud rather than storage in a protected warehouse.
The consequences extended well beyond damaged cardboard. Unpacking became an exhausting and time-consuming process, requiring every box and its contents to be inspected individually. Many items had to be cleaned, sorted, and, in some cases, discarded because they had been damaged by moisture, mold, or corrosion beyond repair.
Water damaged many books and magazines, leaving their pages permanently stuck together. Some boxes of clothing had a strong odor of mold, and many garments were covered with black mold spots. Several paintings were also affected, with holes appearing in parts of the canvas.
Some wooden furniture warped from prolonged exposure to moisture, causing drawers and doors to no longer fit properly. On several hand-painted antique pieces, the painted finish had deteriorated or disappeared entirely.

Throughout this process, I documented the condition of my belongings with photographs and maintained detailed records.
I recognize that unexpected situations can arise in any business. What matters most is how a company responds when problems occur. For that reason, I made every effort to resolve this matter directly and through mediation before writing this review.
To their credit, Zoomalo did repair or refinish a small number of damaged items. I appreciate that effort. However, those repairs represented only a small portion of the overall damage and did not address the condition of many other belongings or the consequences of their storage.
I hope my experience encourages both customers and moving companies to recognize the importance of proper storage practices, clear communication, and accountability. Anyone planning a move involving long-term storage should carefully document their belongings, consider obtaining appropriate insurance, and ask detailed questions about exactly where and how their possessions will be stored.
Instead of the joy that normally accompanies moving into a new home, the experience became months of cleaning, sorting, documenting, and deciding what could be saved and what had been permanently lost.

Seamless and Professional From Start to Finish

I recently moved household goods from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Querétaro, Mexico, and the experience with Zoomaloo was outstanding from start to finish. The initial response included a clear quote. Communication was consistent and pressure-free. Pickup was on time, and delivery occurred within approximately 3 weeks, with daily weekday updates once the goods reached the border. The final cost matched the estimate exactly. My computer monitor was damaged, and Zoomaloo proactively initiated a replacement at no cost on the same day the shipment arrived, personally delivering it. Professional, efficient, reasonably priced, and seamless. Highly recommended.

Caveat emptor!

I REALLY wanted to be able to write them a good review. In the beginning, they were wonderful. Great communication, easy to deal with, the price was right. The issues started after belonging were picked up. The communication started to falter, and I kept getting contradicting messages. When my items arrived, there were several things missing.

Examples of conflicting correspondences:
“Our next trailer will be loaded in a few days. And will be arriving around between June 7th – 14th.”
“I was waiting to hear from Logistics. Your items are in Laredo and will be loaded on the next trailer - should start loading in 2 days and be here by next week.”
“We had two trucks loaded side by side but your items were not in the loaded list.  Yes, your items are still in Laredo, TX awaiting for the OK from our broker for crossing, this truck should be arriving by the end of this week or Monday at the latest. (June 21st – 24th).”

I had been told the first week of June that my belonging were in the Laredo warehouse. Then I was told they didn’t arrive until the end of June. They had collected my belongings May 15. Where were they for ONE MONTH? I wrote to the owner/manager(?) David to get clarity on it all; he never had the courtesy of responding.

Finally received a photo of my things loaded into their truck, but there were two large plastic tubs tucked in with my boxes. I alerted them that those plastic tubs did not belong to me, and even stated my concern about the likelihood of some of MY belongings ending up in someone else’s shipment. I was assured that it could not happen.

Finally July 12 I received my belongings. MULTIPLE things missing; several boxes had been opened. I understand that it can occur in customs, but two of the box’s sides had been slashed opened and the packing peanuts were spilling out-- they didn’t bother to re-tape it shut. But the most heartbreaking was that photographs of myself and brother when we were children were gone. My brother passed away at 21, and those were the only photos I had of him.

I immediately contacted Cindi, Gloria and Jenifer and asked them to please contact whoever’s belongings were in the truck/warehouse with mine to see if they accidentally received my belongings. They said they would.
After SIX WEEKS and not hearing anything, I received a very dismissive email from them with “We will be reaching out to all the clients that arrived in your trailer in a systematic fashion,” meaning they had yet to make those phone calls. That was August 27; it is now September 24 and I have still not heard a thing. To date, there are 16 items of mine that never made it here.

NOTE: Over the past several weeks I have asked multiple people who have also used Zoomalo about their experiences. About half had no issues, and half had similar stories to mine. So, use them at your own risk!

Horrible experience using Zoomalo Moving Services

We had a very bad experience with this company with our move from Mexico to Canada. The estimates were way off, and they picked our stuff and sent it to the warehouse 4 hours away in a different city and then they provide a completely different estimate and because it was too much we had to pay almost $1000 to bring some items back to our home. We also had to pay the crew for a night of hotel and vehicle fines. On top of this, some of our most expensive furniture items arrived broken - the company took zero responsibility. Even though the crews were nice, their service was extremely messy and fragmented and they were very bad at follow ups. The move took way longer than originally planned. One of the worst experiences we had with any movers on any countries we did similar services. Highly NOT recommended! Seeing other reviews here, we can see we're not the only ones with similar issues. It was truly a really bad experience, compared to any other moving services we used in the past. Please choose a different company and thank me later.

I will be filing a complaint to PROFECO…

I will be filing a complaint to PROFECO due to the fact that this company sold my items while continuing to collect THOUSANDS of dollars from me. They are crooks -- NOT to be trusted!! David said he would call me after my attempt to straighten this out but I have not heard from him. He will be hearing from me and the lawyers I will be hiring -- this is far from over and I will prove to everyone he is a thief and that his company ZOOMALOO needs to be shut down. Get your items out of his company before he is shut down by the authorities!

Zoomalo Brought a Smooth Operation.

Moving to another country takes a lot of research--so we did the work (shout out to Mexico Relocation Guide, as an incredibly resourceful tool for having all of "our ducks in a row," and on which we found Zoomalo as a verified service amongst others). From initial introduction, quotation, to pick up (in Palm Springs, CA) and delivery (in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico) Zoomalo delivered: honesty, responsiveness, professionalism and our home furnishings in 4 wks, not six. Everything went exactly as stated. David Lach and Cindi Coria provided excellent management on each side of the border. Pick up and delivery personnel were careful with our belongings also on both sides of the border giving generous time to assist us in any way. Other services just did not compare to the smooth operation and efficiencies of Zoomalo. It's easy to give them Five Stars surrounded by our personal home furnishings in our new condo.

Scammed big time by Zoomalo

Got scammed big time in Mexico.
Never use Zoomalo or the subcontracted clearing agent FNS they use to clear your shipment of personal households.
TOTALLY INEXPERIENCED, Totally misguided me the whole way starting by confirming that my shipment can be cleared on a Tourist Visa which is totally incorrect! Then Takes huge amounts of USD to clear your shipment which for me, was a 6 months nightmare due to their misguidance, and then continuously demanding more and more $$$ to do so. Every week a new issue AND contradicting facts. They cannot even give me an accountability as to where and how they have used the so far given $40,000.00 usd to them to pay all duties and clearing charges. If there was a NO STAR option that is what they would get from me. This Company and it's management are scammers.
Plus I had to pay another $17,860 USD directly to the shipping line as they kept delaying the payment and charges were accumulating by the day at $140.00 USD / per day
