Disappointed

Hilton Paddington London. Disappointed. Positives first though. Excellent location, room was clean, the bed very comfortable and the breakfast was good. But, for a four star hotel and the money you pay, it was lacking. The room was a good size but had no fridge, (just an empty cupboard where it should have been), this meant that there was no milk or cold drinks etc, no robes or slippers (just those extra things that you’d expect in a Hilton), and no bar or snacks. I think it relies on the location and name. As a frequent traveler, I will go back to staying at The Raddison Blue at Heathrow airport as it never disappoints.

Very substandard for a 5* hotel with hidden charges!

Good points

We stayed at the Lindian Village Beach Resort by Hilton Curio Collection. The property on arrival was beautiful, and the bedroom suite upgrade we were given was a genuinely nice gesture although it came with a surprise 70-euro charge which was never mentioned when we booked with the OTA. More transparency is required for this. We had a stunning King Bohemian suite with a private pool and a lovely wooden decor which we were happy with 😊. Especially, as it was my daughter's 18th Birthday and I particularly wanted to do something special for her. In the last 8 years, she developed a very bad skin condition that has left her scarred from head to toe. Being light-skinned, whenever she went to school, college or out in general, she would be bullied by teens her age or worse stared at very badly like she was a leper by adults. Naturally, these events have caused a lot of traumas to her and severely impacted on her confidence when interacting with people. My daughter has always loved water as a young child but hasn't touched public water spaces in almost 9 years. Having the private pool helped her to smile again and feel free. That week of freedom hugely increased her confidence to try and go to a public pool again or beach not wearing a bathing suit but to start by wearing a modest covering suit and I am especially grateful for the upgrade because this development would not have inspired her otherwise to even entertain such a thought. The breakfast and room cleaning staff were friendly, warm-hearted, and welcoming, and could not do enough for you.

Not so good - Unfortunately, a few things:

Upon my initial contact with the hotel to plan a surprise 18th birthday cake for my daughter (as done in the past at the hotel Excelsior in Venice for my other two elder daughters now aged 28, 24). I wished to make this birthday a memorable one also for my youngest child. As she had wanted to visit Greece. I thought it would be perfect to try Hilton. I had heard things about them before. Nonetheless, I wanted to form my own opinion. First, communication response times from this hotel are extremely poor. I sent an enquiry and did not receive a reply until almost three weeks later. When i was finally contacted and had clearly conveyed my requests. I was told by the Guest Relations Manager - Kallia through communications (which I have the emails) even after having asked twice for the cost in advance "The cake is on us". Although, I was more than willing to pay for it because I wanted her 18th to be special. My daughter has certain dietary requirements related to her skin condition and again I clearly relayed the request of what I wanted and once more asked for the cost or quote. No mention of euro payment was communicated whatsoever. On the day of her birthday, we arrived back in our room and saw the cake. In all honesty, it was okay, but it certainly did not blow me away, not like the cake made in Venice at Excelsior. Very substandard. The cake was also chipped in the icing on one side. Now, do not misunderstand me, I was deeply grateful for the efforts and kind gestures put in place, however gravely disappointed all at the same time. I would not have minded paying for an excellent cake if it had given me all what I had requested. I had clearly expressed to Kallia my daughter was fussy and I asked for the cake to be made in a specific way. I received a red velvet cake which she wanted but it was topped with fruits (strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries). After my daughter removed all the fruits, she cut it and inside the cake centre was filled with strawberries. She did not even eat a quarter of it and the rest we had to give it away to the room cleaning staff because my daughter does not eat those fruits and is profoundly allergic to strawberries which the cake was drenched in. On check out surprise charge 60 euros for the cake!!! Reduced to the latest information being communicated (less than 3lbs in weight cost 30 euros) I was incredibly angry!! Simply because I had asked before my arrival and was not told this. Then there was room service - terrible! I ordered a rack of lamb and baby potatoes. I received 90% fries and three sticks of lamb fat with meat from the chop about the size of a 10p coin all for 22 euros! I refused to pay for this because it had arrived cold. The burger also ordered was filled with bacon ( I do not eat pork.) The breakfast buffet was disappointing there were not a lot of options - no Halal present at all! I felt stuck everyday and yet had paid for breakfast but did not eat any just a hot chocolate and croissants. I do not recommend this hotel unless you want poor food at a high price and want to feel stranded in the middle of nowhere. The location is completely isolated and you will need a rental car to get around. Not worth the £2,000 + stay at all.

Don’t stay at the Edinburgh Carlton Hilton

I recommended staying at the Edinburgh Carlton Hilton hotel in April 2024 to colleagues from Canada. Reason being
it’s close to the High Street and centrally located. I stayed there several times pre-pandemic, when it was a decent hotel. On arrival this Hilton was more like a building site with temporary check-in desk,
boarding which sealed off the entire main front lobby, main staircase, bar and dining room areas. There was a strong smell of cement dust and other chemical smells throughout the hotel. On the upper floors there was more boarding and dining room with no windows, and a small temporary bar with limited choice of food and drink. My colleagues and I also shared this space with several mice which were running around the bar area while the staff watched and laughed. We didn’t find this so amusing as we’d just ordered food. There was no pre-warning given at any stage when reserving rooms. If an honest appraisal of the state of this hotel had been given at time of booking, neither my colleagues or I would have stayed here. Reason I’m writing this review now is that I called Hilton ‘Customer Services’ on 3 separate occasions to report the experience. I asked for management’s feedback but nearly 3mths later, I’ve had zero response from anyone at the Hilton Carlton hotel or customer services.

Cannot even log on …

Just tried several times to log on and book a hotel stay. Failed their verification every time. Last time I booked, I had to telephone their "toll free" number because I could not book online. Only problem was it is not "toll free' from the UK as shown on the website and it cost me over £10. Looking for another hotel chain.

Home2Suites!

We have a large family. In hotels, we really like a separate bedroom (with door between living room), which is hard to find these days! Other hotels with these floor plans are hard to find. Home2Suites usually always has 2 room floor plans. Clean amenities, decent (nothing exciting) hot breakfast. FYI - Watch out for "all rooms pet friendly" if you have allergies!

Mislead, Manipulated and devious billing

absolutely disgusted with the reply from Hilton guest assistance, Tempo NY Hilton Times Square putting a pending charge holding £528.74 from my funds with no explanation. Long list of excuses from stating my 17 year old son booked the room? 17 year old ?? An he cancelled so was late payment charge before we arrived in New York no emails nothing about any cancellation. How on earth how is that possible?
2nd room was booked. We only booked 1 room. They refused to dealt, refused to cancel the holding pending charge and kept fobbing off stating nothing to do with them when their hotel name is still on my online statement.

Hilton didn’t properly handle incident with renegade property manager

I had some customer service issues with Hampton Inn Uptown - University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH with rude desk clerks and a manager with a sullen tone over the phone that also doesn’t return emails and voice messages. They also attempted to take a $154 authorization for incidentals for a three day stay. When describing an incident to the manager about a person I hadn’t seen and was trying to identify, I said “she had an African-American accent“. The manager started admonishing and chastising me and told me how inappropriate I was. Just hours away from arriving at the property and checking in, she canceled my reservation and told me to stay somewhere else. Called Hilton corporate to complain. They filed a case and did an investigation. Their investigation, without talking to me, concluded with them recommending I not stay at the property and giving me 10,000 points for my inconvenience. When I sent several emails saying the response was unsatisfactory, they ignored me.

UPDATE: The manager of said property keeps escalating the issue by responding to my reviews I left on several online platforms and calling me a racist. She also has been getting the reviews deleted, which I keep rewriting. She also got me banned from Yelp for ultimately leaving a factual review that did not address her disparagingly.

Hilton are now such a joke they…

Hilton are now such a joke they encourage people to stay many nights to become Gold or Diamond members but allow all there hotels mainly franchise to renege on all MyWay benefits or make it totally impossible to use or get any sense in US hotels of how much you get and where you can use it.
It’s just not worth the effort but have you hooked because of loyalty they certainly do not appreciate.
Well not me I won’t use Hilton Hotels again Marriott Bonvoy is a much better program.

Substandard room with mould

Hilton York - Cold damp room with mould on ceiling and walls even the iron was full of mould. The heating supplied was a plug in radiator, the room was cold and had a damp feeling too.
Price £366 per night for a basic double room that was disgusting to stay in, be warned, you have been told, use a different hotel dont be ripped off like we were, no acknowledgement of complaint no response just told to email

Homewood Suites in Trooper, PA

The Homewood Suites in Trooper, PA is a good location for walkable restaurants, Starbucks and a Walmart. But this property is in serious need of an update. Our suite was tired-looking and OLD. Missing closet door, beat-up furniture, dusty kitchen appliances. On the plus side, the bed was decent and the HVAC was quiet. And they did bring us the extra towels we requested. (Two bath towels for a four-day stay is not enough!) The outdated decor, draperies and carpeting were all quite unappealing. Hope the place is on the list to get renovated soon.

Hilton The Walk is not worth the money.

Hilton The Walk is not worth the money.
It is an Old fashion hotel where everything is worn out. Floor carpets are flushed and ugly Very bad toilet facilitied, and a boring restaurant. Three elevators to serve 43 floors makes you have to wait a Long time.
Hotel is not at the Beach as it look like on the HomePage. You must cross the Street and Pass through the Hilton Jumeirah Hotel to visit the Beach.
Staff is friendly and food is ok.
But choose another hotel and get what you pay for.

Horrible customer experience!

I mailed a package to myself at the Home2Suites in Clermont, Florida. USPS tracking proves it was delivered. Hotel said they never received it. Or they sent it back. They don't know, and don't care. No offer to reimburse me. Sad!
They would rather lose my business forever than pay me $56 for what was in the package. Not very intelligent business practice. And not very nice or helpful people. Incredibly frustrating experience with an unsatisfactory ending.

Go to McDonald's before checking in

Well just spent a night at the hilton T 5 at heathrow. Firstly no complaints about the room and public areas but the restaurant was another thing. Only able to serve 4 meals off the menu because the gas is off! What! That’s no way to run a business so burger, fish and chips, pizza or salad was all we were offered and the staff seemed to think that was Ok. we paid £50.00 for 2 burgers and were as good as told to be great full. Nothing in easy walking distance. In addition the speciality Indian advertised on the website closed 9 months ago in Jan Syras Todawaller obviously pulled out and no wonder.

The good news was everything will be back to normal tomorrow. Some help when you are at 35000 feet. They know that and just do not care

Well I’m still waiting. Then the agent passed me onto someone who basically hounded me down trying to sell a 4 night stay in the US. IM NOT STAYING AT Hilton hotels again,

No working shower or bath in room.

No working shower or bath in room.
Reception staff not interested.
Apologies but no action, no compensation even after initial agree of 50 euros refund which was reneged as booked through agency and not direct to hotel.
Wasted hours trying to get some sort of recompense and phone Hilton Customer Service who after a number of e mails offered a grand total of 5000 Hilton points about 30 euros in value.
Total waster of time trying to complain and appalling service to have high end hotel provide a room without working shower and bath.
