Despicable Customer Service

After arriving in excess of what is required before boarding (20 minutes), not only was I denied boarding, but was lambasted and insulted by one of the Turkish Airlines staff at Istanbul Airport for being "late". I then had to pay full price for a new ticket and book a hotel for the night. After laying a complaint, Turkish Airlines basically responded by saying it was my fault I was late and said "during the interpersonal communication, misunderstanding is possible from time to time". They did not even apologise. I quite genuinely have never been treated so disgustingly by an airline in my life. Shameful. Please DO NOT fly Turkish Airlines at all costs. They are a disgrace

Scam airliner trying to be one of the best

Once I was flying in the evening Turkish Airlines the Europe for a wedding. A couple of hours before the flight I got an SMS saying my flight had been cancelled. I call them and the reason given was bad weather in Istambul. They also cancelled the round trip and refunded me. I was able to still board a flight with Pegasus on that day that went to Istambul the same hours in the evening. No bad weather was ever registered. Don't fly Turkish, it's a scam.

07.09.2024 I flew from Gaziantep to Istanbul with a connecting flight from Istanbul to London Heathrow Airport, but one of my bags went missing. I filled out a form and they said your bag will be sent to you by cargo on Monday, but my bag is still missing. My baby has important medication in it. Damn Turkish Airlines.can someone please get in touch with me

Worst Airline Europe

By far, and I’m not even making it up, the worst airline I have ever flown with. My experience flight from Berlin via Istanbul to Malaysia.
1. Flight to Istanbul: Online Checkin didn’t work and we had to check in at the airport, okay nothing big. The plane got delayed and arrived late at the airport in Istanbul, which made me run for my life, since the service is so bad and the layover time was now only 30 min.
2. flight to Malaysia: arrived in Malaysia I noticed that my bag was missing, Turkish airlines didn’t really seem to care, happens provably multiple times a day, I had to fill a report and to fill my belongings in the luggage. Very unprofessional not very helpful whatever, 3 days into my holiday my luggage still didn’t arrive. I did not got a call, not an email - nothing. I had to call 8 different hotlines until they finally sent someone on a motorbike to send my luggage, no sorry nothing.

Flight from Malaysia back to Istanbul: Flight got delayed again, but hey at least nothing bad happened.

Flight from Istanbul to Berlin:
The flight got delayed 3! times, I had a layover time over 10 hours. Since the Istanbul airport is famous for selling food for unhumanily prices, I asked at the Turkish support service in Gate D if they provide a coupon for food or drink, this guy made me clear, that I’m an economy flyer and that I shouldn’t ask for stuff like this.

Okay, never again will I fly with Turkish airlines again.

My recommendation: Lufthansa or Swiss. Don’t bother to book Turkish airlines

I had an awful experience travelling in…

I had an awful experience travelling in Turkish Airlines. I chose Turkish Airlines over British Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways to travel back from Heathrow to Lahore via Istanbul on 23rd August 2024 (TK-1988 Heathrow to Istanbul & TK-714 Istanbul to Lahore). We booked this flight a couple of months in advance in June 2024, however in July 2024 they changed the time of the flight and pushed it back by 5 hours arbitrarily leaving us with no other option to change flights as we had to travel back to Pakistan on 23rd August so we sticked with Turkish Airlines for our journey. We were a total of 6 passengers (family members) travelling together and booked all our luggage through Turkish Airlines Counter at Heathrow at 3:30 AM and received the boarding passes for both flights along with tags of our luggage. Upon reaching Pakistan in the morning of 24th August 2024 at 1:30 AM, we waited to collect our luggage however to our utter astonishment, one of our main bags which had valuable items, couldn't be found. We waited at the airport till the very end until the luggage belts went empty however there was no trace of our bag. We reached out to the Airport authorities and filed Property Irregularity Report and provided them with bag tag, boarding pass and picture of the bag on spot and they assured that they have received a list of missing baggage and that our baggage has been located and it will come tommorow in the next flight. To our sheer disappointment, 5 days have passed but they haven't sent our bag yet. I have been taking up this matter with Turkish Airlines and Lahore Airport authorities on daily basis but with no luck. I can't tell how much mental agony, stress and trauma has been caused us by Turkish Airlines to us. We chose it over other internationally recognised airlines, however, we never knew that travelling through Turkish Airlines will become such a nightmare for us. We want nothing but our own luggage back ! but we are unable to see any efforts being put to return our bag to us in despite lapse 5 days !
I am extremely disappointed and suffering highly at the hands of Turkish Airlines !

POOR Customer Service_Business Class Client

I forgot my carry on rucksack in a secure locker in business class lounge. I contacted Turkish Airlines Customer Service and the Lost & Found departments separately. I have given them the exact locker number with a photograph, and photographs and details of the rucksack, boarding passes, my Miles & Smiles Elite Plus membership card. It has been over three days they have not done anything to help and keep on sending standard e-mails "We’ve shared your feedback with the relevant airport. We’ll get in touch with you once the airport has completed its investigations."

There is nothing to investigate as I have told them exactly where the bag is left in a secure locker on Istanbul Airport. I have shared a photograph of how the bag looks like, described its exact contents, shared my flight details and boarding passes that will match my entry and exit from the Business Class Lounge.

In my estimate based on the flights I have undertook with Turkish Airlines, I have given them at least USD 0.5mil in business in the last 9 years. After this experience and Turkish Airlines' inability to provide a basic customer service, I will be replacing Turkish Airlines with another more reliable and trustworthy airline, and I shall not be recommending the airline to any of my family, friends, or business associates.

Horrible for handicaped people

As abhandicapped Person that ist flying a lot i have ti say that turkish ist by far the wirst experience. Apart frim a Discount there ist No Help, the prioity Boarding ist mit working and the wheelchair Support ist forgotten 9 of 10 Times. This should BE illegal. I give a ... on a Discount when i have to die in rows.

Worst customer service ever

I am extremely disappointed with Turkish Airlines and their customer service. On 20th July 2024, my flight from Amsterdam to Istanbul (TK1954) was delayed by over 4 hours while I was already at the gate at Schiphol. The flight was eventually canceled, causing me to miss my connecting flight to Jakarta. This led to a 48-hour delay and additional costs of €354.74.

Despite reaching out to Turkish Airlines immediately after the incident, I have been waiting since 23rd June for a proper response. Their latest reply was completely irrelevant, discussing a flight change in April 2024, which has nothing to do with my situation. I am entitled to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004, but their handling of my claim has been nothing short of frustrating and dismissive.

Turkish Airlines, your customer service is appalling. I expected much better from a company of your reputation. I have now escalated my claim to an external mediation service (EUclaim) due to your failure to address my concerns adequately. I would not recommend flying with Turkish Airlines unless you’re prepared for delays, cancellations, and poor customer support.

Thieves

Thieves. Booked flights with Turkish airlines, paid and all fine. Then months later a Random amount was deducted from my credit card clearly stating Turkish airlines and they refuse to reimburse.
Feedback form ridiculous, three times asked me for a photo of my bank statement, three times I supplied it.
Flying with Turkish airlines basically means that months down the track they can take a huge amount from your account for nothing and not give it back.

terrible customer service and impossible refund process

Please stay away from this airline or be aware that their refund is just a lie.
Terrible refund process and the worst customer service ever.
I had to cancel my flight due to sickness. I already know that I can only have the cost of the tax back, but even that one is not working. First, I tried to cancel the flight and complete the refund process, but every time I was receiving some system error. Next, I called customer service and after taking a long time they said they have the same problem as me and asked me to fill up a feedback form. I did that. Then, customer service called me again and asked me to fill up the same form again and again and agin. Nothing happened except receiving emails from customer service with the link to the same feedback form!!!! OMG, I got stuck in a loop.

Turkish getting worst

After boarding the plane and sitting for more than two hours, all the passengers were suddenly asked to disembark. The pilot then announced that the flight was canceled. At the airport, I waited another two hours to get a stamp on my passport. After that, they announced that the luggage would arrive in 2-3 hours. The airline provided a hotel, but I decided to go back home. I called Turkish Airlines several times, and they offered me another flight the next day with a layover of six and a half hours. It wasn't even the same flight as the one canceled, nor the night flight with a one-hour connection. It was an extremely bad experience. I had to book another flight that cost me 200 euros more. Never again.

Awful customer service

They changed pre-reserved paid seats and seated me separately from my husband when we are travelling with an infant. We paid 200$ for the seats. Customer service is awful.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! NEVER BOOK WITH TURKISH AIRLINES!
Their staff are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE and their policies are even worse! They purposely deceive customers at the airport. We are were flying from IST airport to LGW (London) and checked in etc 3 hours early. Finished eating and made our way to the gate with half an hour left till the flight (flight at 14:05, we were at the gate for 13:35). THE GATE DOORS WERE CLOSED. 13 passengers were banging and banging on glass windows for them to let us in through to the gate so we could board onto the flight. The boarding staff just pretended we weren’t there and turned their backs to us making their way one by one onto the plane leaving no staff at the gate. We were forced to go to the ticketing desk where we explained the situation only for them to turn around and say that we are all lying and it is our fault that we got to the gate late. I pleaded for them to check CCTV to prove that we were there early. I had even a video on my phone which showed we were banging on the gate windows where the staff was ignoring us. They saw it and just claimed they’re only able to issue new paid tickets no free tickets, and we had to call customer service to request a refund. We called them and they claimed is is our fault for not being at the gate 1 hr before, which is ridiculous because on all our boarding passes it states 20 mins before the flight not 1 hr. Before making our way to the gate all the screens said “go to gate” only, there was no message stating that the flight is boarding or that the gate was closed.
The staff genuinely were extremely cruel and robotic and not willing to even look at you or listen to the situation, instead they sent us round the whole airport from desk to desk leading us on saying that the other desk will help us only to be told that we need to pay.

I was flying with my husband and 1yr old and they showed no empathy for us and constantly were told that it is our fault and that we have to pay. They declined any sort of help including food vouchers or hotel stays. We were forced to stay overnight in the airport sleeping in the prayer rooms with my child on the floor till our next flight with a different airline at 4:50am.
Another couple who also were in the same situation were flying on first class and paid £300 for insurance in case of any adjustments were needed to the flight date etc due to her health, they told her it was her fault for missing the flight so she also has to pay for a complete new ticket and that the £300 does not cover anything. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO WHAT THEY SAY AT THE TIME OF BOOKING!

PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS AIRLINE, THEY DECEIVE EVERYONE AND TRY TO JUST FIND WAYS TO MAKE YOU PAY MORE AND MORE.
THEY DONT CARE WHETHER YOU'RE ILL OR A CHILD OR ANYTHING.

24 hour cancellation period? You wish!!

My partner bought a ticket online today 05th June 24 at 2:30 pm from Riyad to IST (departure: 01/07/24) . At 3:30 pm today (only one hour later) we realised we booked the wrong date. The original ticket cost totalled 824 sar. I’ve always known airlines to grant a 24 hour period when you can correct mistakes, but not T.K. NO! As we tried to cancel the flight on the website, the maximum TK would refund was 137 sar out of 824 sar. We tried “change ticket” but the charge was 505 sar which made no sense. So my partner called customer service which charged him 647 sar to change the flight to 28.06.24. I simply cannot believe this nonsense. Fast forward to 09/04/25… Yesterday I bought a ticket from Antalya to Istanbul on the wrong date, also with Turkish Airlines, and got a full refund. Weird!

The worst experiences I had to go…

The worst experiences I had to go through. I feel cheated and have not received any response to my complaint. I reserved seats for €180. A heavily intoxicated man who could barely walk had a seat in row 24. The lady next to him rightly complained, which is why he was put in a row with 4 seats. Even before the plane took off, a number of passengers occupied seats on their own or placed their bags on the seats in various rows in order to change seats during the flight. I then said that as a disabled person with autism, I couldn't sit next to a smelly man. Even though the plane was relatively empty, the crew refused! To ask passengers who had placed their bags on seats to make room for me so that I, who had paid €180, would not be punished with the alcoholic. Why don't you help the woman in row 24 and a disabled person?
I documented everything with photos. I have rarely been in such need and feel cheated out of the money from the reservation, which was already far too expensive. The guests who didn't pay anything sat better. That wasn't all: I got the wrong food and the same food twice. But there's more: because the plane was late, they simply left my suitcase in Istanbul for more than 20 hours. I landed shortly after 10:00 a.m. at 40° and heard that my suitcase is still in Istanbul... that's the penultimate stop before the destination! incredible. At 40° in jeans and sneakers without sunscreen, medication that I urgently need, swimwear, etc.

TA also didn't say when the suitcase would arrive and unfortunately it didn't arrive on Sunday either. I then went to sleep at 11 p.m.
As an autistic person, it is not possible for me to get through a day like this unscathed.
My feet are injured, I have severe side effects because I unexpectedly stopped taking the medication and the first few days of the package tour are an absolute disaster. The stress I had with TA, who to date has not contacted me in any way, is simply inexcusable and relevant to damages. My feet are dark blue and full of blisters. In addition, an employee put a bottle of water in my backpack because the plane was late. Unfortunately she had already opened the bottle and damaged my new iPad.

The package tour must be reimbursed. Furthermore, my suitcase stood in the sun for many hours, which is why various cosmetic items burst and leaked. There are photos here too. I have severe side effects due to the lack of medication, I couldn't go on the excursions of the first two days, which threw my entire travel plans overboard. When I contacted the clerk in Hamburg, who also pre-ordered my food, she said the head office in Istanbul was responsible. Now, as a disabled person, I can't even hope that my complaint will be forwarded; I had to report it in Istanbul. This took many hours even though I'm on vacation! and yet, the airline hasn't let anything be heard from. After consulting with my family, we will hire an international lawyer and enforce the law here without compromise. Shame on you for dealing with paying customers, specifically people with special needs. You have to be drunk to receive special treatment on a Turkish airline. I'm completely distraught and there's no vacation.

Worst ever

Worst ever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Bought a 3 leg ticket, first flight was cancelled and they NEVER reprogrammed my flight. Each time with a new excuse.
Wasted time and money. I will TELL everyone not to fly woth them.

Ticket apparently did not exist when…

Ticket apparently did not exist when getting to the airport. I booked a return for my father and received the itinerary on our emails. He travelled out of the country fine, but upon return we could just not check in online. I called customer service and it said the booking does not exist, and has to rebook. There is no such ticket with his name. As he was already at the airport at this point, the staff mentioned the same. Luckily, as he had the itinerary printed, and boarding pass from his outbound flight, staff used their own discretion to let him on the plane but it is just unnecessary. They need to sort the systems out because that should not happen. The lady on the phone was adamant he would need to buy a new ticket. He is an old man with limited use of technology - it needs sorting out.
