I had Richard as my instructor and over the past year, it's been fun, interesting and often crazy to see how much I've learnt and become more confident in my driving! From learning how to make left turns to speeding down the sliproad onto the dual carriageway, Richard has been supportive, kind but also instructive to help me improve where I need to. He has also considered more personal things that effect my driving, such as anxiety on making the right manoeuvres or rushing and making mistakes because of that. While it took two attempts to pass my test, I came back resilient and focused in part thanks to Richard's calm support encouraging me to try only two weeks later. Initially, I couldn't see how I would ever be behind the wheel, but now I know I am capable of going anywhere if I wanted to all thanks to these lessons!

Richard stepped in last minute to support me through my driving test and did so brilliantly, very grateful to him and Xpert for getting me over that final hurdle.

Just passed my test today first time with Dave. He was very accommodating with my school schedule and explained things very clearly for me to understand. Would highly recommend.

I’d been learning to drive with David for a long while and he’d always been great at helping me understand driving and adapting his teaching when I struggled. I’m glad to have finally passed. I would recommend David to anyone who asked. Wonderful, patient and always kind man I will miss our lessons!

Richard was a great driving instructor. He was patient, explained things clearly, and helped me build my confidence while learning to drive. Passed first time! I’d definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a good instructor!

I learnt with Dave, and he was always so encouraging and helpful with everything he taught me. He would always ask how I was finding the different parts of driving during the lesson and if I was finding a certain part difficult he would go through it again to make sure I could do it with ease. I passed my driving test first time, so I couldn’t as for anything more!

I learned with Richard over the winter months of 2025/26. He made it a tremendously easy experience throughout the process. During lessons he is calm, reassuring, knowledgeable and on the ball. He really gets you thinking about how you can improve. Outside of lessons he is happy to help, communicative and understanding. Overall, I think I got lucky to land with an instructor who really cares about providing the best experience for learners and this helped me pass first time.

I have had a few occasions where I've learnt to drive and after a couple of bad experiences at test centres with an unprofessional examiner, it completely shattered my confidence where I truly believed I would never pass my test because of the damage they caused to my confidence, after a break due to Covid and just putting it off, I decided later last year a fresh instructor was maybe a good call too and to start from scratch & it was the best decision I've ever made. Just wish I'd have gone with Steph from the start of my learning journey as her teaching methods are absolutely brilliant, & I would probably have passed years ago, she said I was able to drive from day one of me meeting her but she worked on my confidence for the test day as my nerves would cause me to flap & make silly mistakes.

On the day of my test I was seriously considering cancelling due to nerves & flashbacks to the other test centre experiences but she was giving me affirmations and building my confidence right up to the test centre door and I ended up passing in York with only 3 minors.
We clicked so well and she is a huge advocate for her students, her methods of teaching are just brilliant I cant explain how she makes it work. Her feedback is always fair and truthful & you can tell she is just a genuinely nice person in and out of work. My son will be old enough to drive in a few years and he's already said he wants to learn with her too, she takes her job so seriously & educates students on how important it is to be a good driver as its no joke been out on the roads. I am so glad my path crossed with Steph as she will be someone who I will recommend to anybody but also look forward to seeing her around in the future! Thank you so much

My instructor Richard was patient .understanding and doubled up as a therapist for our weekly lessons.Always on time and trys to accommodate any date changes
Really good with people who have anxiety issues.i I had no nerves at all.when I sat my driving test.If Richard can get me through a driving test he can get anyone through it

Ahmed is calm and patient, providing great lessons and advice that have helped me to pass my test. I work varying shifts and have a lot of other priorities so difficult to plan but he provided a lot of flexibility around my schedule which was very helpful. Thank you!

It has been a great few months with Richard learning to drive. Richard is a great instructor and I have become a qualified driver thanks to him.

I passed my driving test first time and couldn’t have done it without Richard! An excellent instructor, very patient and encouraging, explained everything very clearly which helped me learn very quickly, highly recommend.

I did my lessons with David and I can say that he is very patient, encouraging and has flexible lesson times. He always gave me advice on how to handle driving in real world situations and gave thorough explanations, providing me the opportunity to reflect and point out for myself what I did correctly and what I could improve on, allowing me to understand my own strengths and mistakes so I was able to gain a lot of confidence in driving.
