A complete rip off.

Totally unjustifiable prices! You could buy a backdrop, costumes and a session with a decent photographer for less than half what this company charges.

I bought a gift voucher for my friend so she could take her four year old son for a Capow photoshoot. The voucher cost £25 and there was no indication that the photographs would cost £295 - £595. I would never have put her in that position had I known.

Furthermore, the studio claimed to have a large selection of costumes so whilst it was possible to take costumes, it was suggested there was an extensive range available at the studio. Upon arrival, he was asked who his two favourite characters are to which he excitedly responded Spiderman and The Hulk only to be told the studio doesn’t have a Hulk costume! Surely The Hulk is one of the most famous Marvel characters!

To make matters worse, it was abundantly clear the costumes were far too large for the little boy. One of the costumes was so large his hands were completely hidden. No attempt was made to pin the costume or adjust it in any way, so half the photos were useless as he doesn’t look like he has hands! What professional photographer would continue shooting when faced with that?

It was also apparent the photographer had little knowledge about the superhero characters. She asked my friend’s son (several times) to get in a position as if landing after jumping from a building (something he did immediately and just as Spiderman would). I couldn’t fathom why she continued asking him to do something he had already done. It was so disappointing watching her miss so many great photo opportunities. Within the booking confirmation, Xposure Studios claim the session will take 2-3 hours. The truth is the photoshoot took no more than 30-40 minutes. Based on the booking fee and charge for photographs, that equates to a whopping £480 plus per hour!!!

Whilst there must have been at least 50 photos taken during the session, only 16 were presented to us. When we whittled this down to four, the representative bluntly advised ‘you are now on the lowest package’. The approach totally lacked any element of customer service. What in fact should have happened is my friend should have been asked if she wanted to buy a package at all. The assumption additional photos outside of what the voucher provides are to be purchased is simply another example of this company’s focus on making a fast buck.

Xposure Studios needs to do a lot better. Xposure are not upfront about the costs involved despite having the opportunity to do so within the booking confirmation they send. The confirmation also states ‘images are only available on the day’, yet another example of how parents are pressured into buying a package immediately and not given the opportunity to consider the purchase.

It’s lucky for Xposure Studios my friend is a lot more tolerant than me, I would have no hesitation in asking for a full refund based upon this dreadful experience. Oh and please don’t respond with excuses as that will only enforce my belief that customer service is not this company’s strong point.

Hi Desanne, we’re sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your experience as much as we want you to. As you mentioned we do have lots of great reviews so we’re sorry you don’t feel the same. We pride ourselves on our work and customer service so we’re sorry we didn’t get to address any concerns you had on the day as we were unaware there were any issues.

We will take your feedback constructively but would like to point out that your friend was informed of our prices when she booked her appointment. We also display all our prices on our website. Your friends son seemed to have a great time and our photographer was merely playing with him to engage him in the shoot. We tell people the whole experience last around 2-3 hours including the viewing of the photos, it would not be good to try to take photos of a child or family for 2-3 hours.

If your friend would like to speak to us about her experience then please ask her to contact us and we will be happy to help.
