Never rent a boat fra Y4Y

I rented a boat from them in Split, Croatia, during the last week of August. The rental was arranged through Seatravel in Denmark. From the very beginning, Y4Y came across as unprofessional. We rented a boat described as a 2022 model, yet we were later told it was actually an old boat. We discovered numerous issues along the way: the sails wouldn't hoist fully, the autopilot didn't work, the dinghy's engine was worn out and kept stalling, the dinghy itself was leaking air, there was dirt under the cushions, pumps weren't functioning, and so on. When we returned the boat, they didn't check any of these things, yet they now claim everything was working fine. Seatravel tried to help but says they bear no responsibility, as they are merely an intermediary. Stay away from Y4Y—rent directly instead. I could go on, but it was simply a terrible experience. I am still trying to secure compensation.

Yacht4You : Disappointing experience: poorly maintained boat

We chartered an Elan E3 through Yacht4You in Kaštela, Croatia, for 12 days in August 2026.

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing, mainly because of the general condition and maintenance of the boat.

From the beginning of the charter, we encountered numerous problems:

* the interior cleaning was only superficial;
* approximately 26 litres of water were found in the bilges;
* there was no bimini, despite sailing in the Mediterranean in August, so we had to improvise our own sun protection;
* several screws were missing from the curtains;
* one of the gas cooker burners was broken;
* the black water tank was missing;
* the hatches in the aft cabin were not working properly;
* the fuel and water gauges were defective;
* the outboard engine was unusable, which was particularly problematic as we needed it to use the dinghy;
* the freshwater pump failed during the cruise and eventually had to be replaced by two Yacht4You technicians.

The boat is around 10 years old. We understand that a charter boat can show signs of use, but the number of defects we encountered gave us the clear impression that the boat had not been properly maintained or thoroughly checked before our arrival.

The handling of our complaints was also disappointing. The administrative staff did not appear particularly willing to take all our remarks into account, while the technical team seemed mainly focused on dealing with problems as they arose rather than carrying out proper preventive maintenance.

At the end of the charter, Yacht4You asked us to pay €400 for repairs, relating to damage to the furling system and the mainsail. Given the general condition of the boat and the numerous technical problems we had encountered during the charter, we disputed this charge.

Stay clear!

Stay clear of this charter company, the experience was really underwhelming from start to finish.

We booked a new sailing yacht made in 2024, but it was in a worst technical state than some 15-year old boats that I have seen. The employee of the charter company during check-in had troubles communicating in english, didn't know a lot about the boat and its state, and refused to unfurl the sails so that we can check their state.

Just to name some problems:
- the boat was missing any fuel level indicator and therefore we couldn't check if the tank is indeed full.
- some equipment from the listing like underwater lights wasn't available at all
- half of door handles and locks were loose and two of them regularly fell off
- cleanliness: dirty mattresses, dirt in pretty much every crack and crevice, rust on all metal components, cigarette burn holes in mattresses, on bimini, and on cockpit cushions, storage areas in the saloon not vacuumed
- dinghy leaking air (had to be inflated every day for use)
- insufficient number of fenders
- stern lines too thin for use

We complained about many issues before setting off, but there were simply too many, we would need to spend one more day to fix everything. Coupled with the fact that the check-in was very late and it took ages for their employees to address the problems, we eventually sailed off to not have to spend the first day in the dock.

The check-out procedure explained a lot about the state of the boat. They didn't check anything and only asked about any problems. After a diver check, we received the deposit. After arriving home, we decided to complain about the overall experience. Here comes the best part: not only did the company not owed up to any of the problems, they also falsely accused us of catching a rope in the propeler and damaging the boat. Even if we did that (we didn't), why didn't they tell us during the check-out? We provided an elaborate report of all issues including photos, their accusation came without any evidence.

Now I understand why there are no reviews available at Google maps, which I wondered about before the cruise. They would be horrible!

badly maintained boats - bad service

One of our clients hired nearly new Bavaria Cruiser. 46 with them and had several problems with the boat, including (but not limited to) a broken winch for the bathing platform. He was told by the base manager that he is not authorised to repair that winch and that they have the same problems with several other boats as well.

Even if the boat was nearly new, the condition of the yacht have been far below average. Not only on his boat but on neighbouring boats as well.

After return we contacted the head office, asking for a compensation, which was rejected with two arguments:

The shipbuilder is delivering poor quality so there is nothing that can be done (poor quality is true and everybody knows) but boats need to be properly prepared after deliver as all other companies in the market are doing.

The clients are treating the boats badly, so there is nothing they could change. Might be true as well, but this is their job, delivering proper maintenance and keep the boats in a good sailing condition.

Looks like they only try to make money without putting any effort in maintenance or customer service,
