Smart modern hostel in short walking distance of York City Centre via a lovely riverside walk. Friendly staff and lovely fellow hostellers make this a nice option for your city break.

Another great visit to YHA Grasmere, all spotlessly clean, staff extremely helpful and friendly and the food very good.

Mean-spirited staff at Rotherhithe London wouldn't offer anywhere to store a medium sized shoulder bag but a tiny box in the shared room which was much too small, so I had to carry it everywhere like a tramp because it contained an expensive camera and laptop.
I used them for years before this and had never come across such a problem. It made my stay unnecessarily unpleasant, I've never given them a second look since.

This makes me angry. I have just spent considerable time completing a detailed survey. DO NOT ASK ME TO DUPLICATE MY TIME AND EFFORT BY UNNECESSARILY DOING THE EXACT SAME EXERCISE ALL OVER AGAIN FOR YOUR BENEFIT.

This is a welcoming hostel attracting many interesting visitors. Well run by friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Fabulous hostel. Situated on the South Downs Way and right nest to Southease Station with trains to Brighton and Newhaven.

This was my first stay at a youth hostel and I will definitely return to Ambleside and look into staying at other hostels. Really good value to stay in a room on my own with shared bathroom and the self catering arrangements worked really well.

The location is wonderful and the staff are all very friendly. Clean and spacious hostel with pool table, table tennis and some games for kids. We will be visiting again in the summer. Only thing the mattress is not exactly the best.

Great location for walks. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Noisy teenage neighbours in the nearby dorms made one night unpleasant.

This is a great place to stay. It is easy to walk to Regent St and Oxford St. from here and the tube is a short walk away. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.

Excellent location and caring staff.

The rooms were not in good condition. Our windows had cracks on them so all night the wind blew against them and it made a howling noise all night. Screaming and shouting heard from outside all night.

The place is great, quiet and calm. People are nice and helpful.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I booked a YHA as I had never heard of them. Now I know and I will always look for them!! Amazing self-catering kitchen, so clean (even the showers!!) and so many entertainment in the social areas!! I did a puzzle/played clue/read a book/played pool and ping pong all for free! It's an easy way to start conversations! The only bad thing is that the pub/bar was expensive, but it might be because of just UK pricing in general compared to Canada. An english person I met in London told me that pricing seems normal to her (10.90p for fish and chips).

Also, I had so many difficulties because of a strike going on during my stay and staff was so understanding and let me stay in the same room for extra days instead if making me move!

Very well situated hostel. Easy to walk to most places. Clean and comfortable rooms. Helpful staff.
