Cost $1200 Extra, and They Broke Things

DO NOT use this company. I wish I went with Honolulu Movers.

Our bill was nearly 3x ($1,200 extra) higher than the quote, and they broke a ton of stuff. The leadership is terrible and the workers all seem like new hires.

When I first reached out to YouMoveMe, the estimator asked me how many boxes, I told him “~30, but maybe more.” He specifically said “the price is the same up to about 80 boxes.”

He asked me the dimensions, and quality of our elevator, and I gave them to him.

I also told him “please note, the unloading house is on a steep hill, and the house is up a flight of stairs.” He said “that’s no problem at all, our guys got it covered.”

The quote came back at $737.32, and they expected it to take 2 guys, 3 hours. The process was supposed to go from 1pm-4pm.

But on moving day, the crew didn’t finish loading until about 4:15pm. The reason they gave was “slow and small elevators.” The elevator in our building is slow, but not so much it triples the loading time.

When the truck arrived at the unloading location, they drove into the wrong driveway and damaged my neighbor’s driveway. (Photo attached). If I had not run up to them and screamed to stop, they would have damaged it further. They then refused to drive up our driveway “because the truck couldn’t make it.”

So they parked at the bottom, and we waited 20 minutes for another employee to arrive with a pickup truck, which they used to shuttle the load up the driveway, and unload at the house.

Another ~30 mins later, the owner showed up with a third pickup. Then all 4 crew members shuttled using the owner’s truck.

While moving the furniture, they struck and broke our porch light (photo attached).

The crew members couldn’t figure out how to put the furniture they disassembled back together, and needed my help. For example, it took 3 men 30 minutes to put my 3-piece bedframe back together.

At 7:45pm, fearing an outrageous charge, I told them they could leave. At that time most of our boxes were still in the living room.

After they left, we discovered a ton of damage to our furniture. About ⅓ of the items they were responsible for were damaged while moving. It’s clear they were dragged, dropped, or banged up (photos attached). They left a strap and a nail at the base of our driveway (photo attached).

The owner charged me for every minute of every single mover (including himself). I told him I was disappointed the final charge was nearly 3 times the estimate. The owner said charges were justified because the “elevator was slow, there were “more than 30 boxes and two extra nightstands, and that particular truck couldn’t go up the driveway.”

I responded that all of that had been disclosed to the estimator and should’ve been factored into our quote. The estimator had our address, so did the owner. Either could’ve done a quick Google Maps search to evaluate the driveway and use an appropriate truck.

I thought since the company had done such a poor job estimating and planning, the owner would be apologetic and offer a concession. This guy thought we owed him an apology. Not a single dollar off.

I would never recommend this company.

Careless, destructive and unprofessional

I thought I was hiring professional movers but instead got a crowd no better than high schoolers. Careless packing caused damage and the insurance policy pays pennies per pound of item! I called to complain several times and was told the manager, Walter, would call me back - he never bothered.

I paid for packing and moving services. I also supplied a generous gratuity to each of the staff.

I paid for packing and moving services.
The young movers had no regard to cover my furniture nor my paintings.
My glassware, furniture, paintings and lamps are badly damaged and/or destroyed with deep gouges and large chips out of my new furniture. They did not cover my tables or paintings thus these are all broken.
My lamps were badly damaged and cannot be used.

I am missing boxes of clothing. They even tossed clothes into a suitcase going to my storage locker that I would never have known about.
They said they had 80 plus boxes and I counted just over 60.

My child accepted a summer job at this…

My child accepted a summer job at this company. Summer college student. Was told he’d earn a lot of summer money doing some hard work. He’s worked only about three times in 3 weeks. They tell him to come in. Gets there before 7:00 then they waste his day and tell him they don’t need him. They don’t even pay him for his gas used. This company lied and wasted his summer job. Now he needs to interview and find a new job. With only 8 week left in summer. Horrible employee. Liars.

Horrible human being Walter

0. I can’t in good conscience recommend this place. Please don’t use this place. It is run by a terrible manager Walter. He is garbage. Worst of all he lies. Unprofessional and changes the prices extensively at the end.

Avoid this moving company at all costs

I want to share our experience with this company to warn others and urge them to avoid using them at all costs. Our moving estimator severely underestimated the time and resources required, leading to a disastrous moving experience. The movers worked late into the night, and we eventually (at midnight) had to ask them to leave, leaving our belongings in disarray. They lacked the tools to reassemble our furniture, resulting in extensive damage to our new home and our furnishings, totaling over $4800. This left us moving heavy furniture and boxes on our own leading to injury and compounding frustration. We were only offered a pittance -$1500 in compensation, barely covering a fraction of the damages and quoted federal guidelines for their own protection.
Their lack of organization caused us to spend days searching for essential items in our packed garage, resulting in unnecessary stress and critical time loss. This company operates with little regard for their customers' well-being and property. Please, for your peace of mind, avoid the overwhelming stress and disappointment of dealing with this company for your move; they engage in deceptive practices and neglect to provide the care and honesty necessary for a successful move.

The worst moving experience.

The worst moving experience. The company did nothing about the damages they did. “ Apologies” was there reply to losing a family jewelry piece over 100 years old.

You move me review

You move me review

I am a very ill and disabled senior. I was told that if I could afford it, I should hire a moving company that would pack me up and set me up at the other end. After reading over four sites I chose ‘you move me’.
The owner came and looked through my home very carefully. I was bid $4200 on a full three bedroom house, full of furniture and personal belongings.
Over the course of several weeks, I was able to downsize that by half. I figured this would give me moving expensives of about $3000.
If they could’ve moved any slower, they would’ve been going backwards. They consistently took things from the dump pile that I had set aside and attempted to load it onto the truck — in one case three times for one item. And sometimes they were redoing work that was done wrong.
Lost items, broken items, boldfaced lies to their boss about me, over wrapping items, under protecting some items, upending drawer after drawer into a huge box; really not making any sense of this move at all.
Several pieces of my furniture were broken. Other pieces were scratched. One tray out of a three tray set was smashed to smithereens, a can of garbage was wrapped and packed, still haven’t found my glasses. Boxes were mislabelled or not labelled at all.
They left behind all of my groceries in the refrigerator and my food pantry. I had to make my own arrangements for that. Otherwise they would charge me for two men and a truck for two hours.
I told him I had a crew of three friends who were there to help me set up my kitchen, make the bed, and so on until other friends could come in and help me with unpacking and setting other things up through the week. I asked them to put the kitchen items to the front of the truck so that they would be the first off and my friends and I could be setting up the kitchen while they were unpacking the rest of the truck. This was not done and my friends and I sat in the living room for a couple of hours waiting for the kitchen stuff to come off the truck.
At the end of the evening the main person sat beside me on my couch and gave me an invoice for $7100! Said he wasn’t going to be leaving until I paid the bill in full. I told him that I wasn’t very happy with what it happened during the move and I wanted to speak with the owner before I paid the bill because I wanted a break in the cost of the move. He sat there until I felt forced to pay. I was totally intimidated by this person.
I would never recommend this company to anybody for anything.
Zero stars from Me.

Underbid to get your business

My move was underbid by $2000 and 6 hours. Because of being rushed, the leg on my piano and grandmother clock were broken. The movers themselves were very nice but do not believe the bid. Go with someone else.

Centralised Customer Service Not Up to Par

After paying a $250 deposit to their Toronto Franchise I needed to slip the date. Originator and franchisee unresponsive and calls to their centralized call centre in the States yield empty promises. Now just want to get my depo back and engage with a professional outfit.
Update: heard from franchisee after posting reviews and received funds.
