Caviar quality FAR below what the website claims

We found the offer on the Zarendom Website for „2 x 125g Osetra Caviar at 209€ instead of 418€ very attractive, especially as the description on the website read like we will get a premium caviar.
The product-photos on the website show beautiful dark caviar balls that can be estimated to about 2-3 mm in diameter, similar to those we often had often from other caviar shops selling Osetra (or Osietra). Everything looked like a good place to buy great caviar and the company presented itself professionally.

So we ordered and receiced the caviar in a good cooling-box.
When we opened the first tin of that Zarendoms Osetra Caviar, we were very surprised. Inside the tin were very little, all yellowish (!) balls measuring only about 1–1.5 mm. Well, we were not even sure if this could even be called „caviar balls“. They had a mushy consistency and tasted completely bland. The typical bursting of the balls on the tongue was also absent.
When we asked Zarendom in a friendly way that there eventually was a mix-up of the tin-labels as the caviar was much smaller than regular Osietra, had a very different color and does not even come close to the product-pictures shown on their website, they simply replied "Sturgeon caviar is never large, and the colour of the caviar can also vary.". That‘s all they had to say about it, so we asked to return the product.

We were offered a credit note if we returned the one remaining full, sealed tin, but they would not credit the tin that had already been opened. Well….

The product quality is totally unacceptable and completely different from the pictures shown on the website. From a reputable caviar supplier, we would have expected, first of all, an acknowledgement and apology for the clear deviation in look & quality, as well as an offer to exchange the goods or issue a full credit note.
Zarendom is disappointing in terms of quality and service.

Terrible service

Terrible service
With a promised delivery time of 1–2 business days, the order had not even been shipped after a week, despite the website stating that they commit to dispatching within that timeframe.
Customer service was rude and disrespectful over the phone.
I do not recommend this company.

Be carefull

We did order 12 cans of red caviar. The shipment did not arrive on time but 10 days after shipping from Berlin. As it is delicat food that needs cooling during transport we did return the shipment with Fedex and asked for a refund. We have written and called the company for a refund but they do not react. The amount is 250 Euro.
Afterwards we found out that the company has Russian roots, but the fact that they do not act profesionally in terms of trade and business has offcourse nothing to do with this fact. At least we prefer to think so.
Our problem is that in this case Zarendom dont return our payment or suggest to resend the shipment with fast delivery setup.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE WHAT YOU PAID FOR.

We live in Denmark.We ordered 6 cans of red caviar with the special offer : pay for 5 and receive 6. We received only 5 cans. We call them. They ask us to send pictures of the package. We do that. No answer. We call them again. They say they did not receive the mail from us. They really did, they probably did not want to answer. Maybe we will forget about it. They ask us to send pictures again. In a few days we received an answer.
They wrote to us that they did send 6 cans. If we received 5 it must be stolen by someone in the transport company Fedex.
We call them again and tell them : please contact Fedex. They do not want to. Their answer is : everybody has to live with the fact that something is stolen in your life. We contact Fedex and they tell us : if something disappears they should be contacted by the company who sent it. Fair enough. People who work in Zarendom are from the Soviet Union. They are selling products in western Europe but their service is like we were all living in the Soviet Union. NO SERVICE. I have seen on Trustpilot that we are not the first customers that have the same problem with them. They refuse to help because they know if you do not live in Germany it is difficult to complain.
But there is a way : contact your bank and demand money back. Do not let Zarendom win a case like this.

Order delivered not in full

I ordered 6 cans of red caviar with the special offer of 5+1 free. There were only 5 delivered in the parcel. When I contacted customer service, they completely ignored my complaint, saying that they do have a daily stock count and the quantity shipped matched the quantity ordered. The FedEx document had a parcel weight of 1.9 kg. One can is 310g and the box is 200g, so the parcel with 6 cans, a water absorber, and space fitting should go over 2 kg. But all my arguments were ignored. That was a sad moment because I ordered caviar for Xmas and this is a gift I received from them. No trust for them anymore.

Kaviar was molded

We have been purchasing caviar since many years.
We use to make our orders at Zarendom.de, usually works well.
We make big orders because of delivery cost and last time we ordered 15pcs Chum Salmon Caviar Premium 250 g.
Unfortunately when we opened one jar December 20, 2020 it was molded!
The best before date is March 8, 2021.
We ordered from this company and other before and we know how to keep caviar proper way in very cold place.
The problem probably accrued because of the wrongly produced can (bad sealing and air contact in the can). It can be very bad, it is fresh product and fish poison is one of the most dangerous.
It was good that we noticed mold and did not consumed caviar.
Problem should be simply solved, we are old customers and we order for 400 euro.
Now we need to warn all customers, this company is unable to solve a simple problem.
We gave supplier a fair opportunity to solve this problem sending 3 e-mails to customer services at zarendom.de
Two of three e-mails have never been answered, one answer “you kept caviar in a wrong temperature” (so it’s our fault the molded product)
The question is how can we proof that all cans war stored in the same place same temp etc.?
Second question - should we really be accused of wrongdoing or lying for a 22.00 euro product, especially being clients since more than 10 years and buying large quantities?
Because of bad service and poor judgment we do not recommend zarendom.de as your supplier.
This is pity because products are good.
However you need to rely on the company you buy food from.
I will now try another supplier and I’ll write a new review about quality and service.

Bought red caviar from the company…

Bought red caviar from the company several times. The quality is very high indeed, the product is fresh, not too salty, firm enough, delivery from Germany to UK is not that expensive and very, very quick. The product comes in a well isolated box so no worries about it going bad even in hot weather. But the main thing is the quality - I usually try the caviar first before buying (I know how the good one should taste) but with Zarendom can do it with me eyes closed. Will buy again for sure.
NB Go for the Premium, be it кета or горбуша, it just tastes better with the price being jnle marginally higher, and do not miss their special offers, they are good.
