After suffering a blowout on the M62…

After suffering a blowout on the M62 and parking myself in a kind of hidden slip road to change my tyre then realising that was also flat, I called for help and the people at the call centre were great at figuring out where I was and organised recovery very quickly. Gaz arrived within around 30 mins and was an absolute gent, calling me a couple of times when he was on his way to confirm exactly where I was. Once on scene, he loaded me up on the truck and took me and the car to the nearest service area, pumped up and checked the spare was ok and I was on my way again. Brilliant (and quick) service, especially as it was Friday at rush hour. Couldn't have asked for a better service!

A nightmare.

I am a 18 year old girl who has had her car for about a year and this was my first experience having an issue with my car. My coolant light came on, on the motorway so I got off at junction 18, and pulled into an Aldi car park at Crewe, when I pulled up I popped the bonnet to find my coolant bubbling/expanding in the tank, then it drained and leaked coolant onto the car park. Aldi has a 1 and a half hour stay for customers, I have been fined. I pulled onto Aldi car park at 7, I called the RAC and told them my situation, I mentioned that I was alone and what happened to my car, I was estimated a time of 8:40-10:40pm, then that time passed it got to 9:30pm, the estimated time had changed to 10:30-11:30pm, then I got a call from a nice gentleman who comes and fixes cars on the car park. He said “where are you going to?”, I said Telford, Then he said, “I’m just the guy who fixes the cars, I’m not a recovery vehicle, I’ll go speak with the RAC now and I’ll call you back in 5 minutes”. I said ok. Then I waited 30 minutes and received no call. I called the man and he said, “I have been on hold for the last 30 minutes” I said ok. I ended the call and then called the RAC myself to find out that the man I had just spoken to had told them that there was no point in him coming to me since he couldn’t do anything. This I can understand however, it was the fact that I didn’t get notified about it and had to call 2 people to find out what was going on. So I spoke to a woman from the RAC and she said that a recovery vehicle would be with me at 12:30pm I said ok. Then I checked the app and the estimated time said 11:30pm- 1:30am. Then it turned 12:30pm and I checked the app and the estimated time changed to 12:30pm- 2:00am. I then waited until I got a call from the man who was recovering my vehicle who said he was 15 minutes away, he arrived at 1:15am, he then told me that “I am only taking you to keele services, then there will be another recovery vehicle waiting there to take you to Telford.” I said ok. Then he had asked me if the RAC had phoned or contacted me about it, I said no, he told me to call them to see if the second recovery vehicle was waiting for me. I called them, they said I would be waiting at keele services for an hour. I arrived at keele services and the food court was shut, I had only had food at 1pm and was going to have dinner around 10. I hadn’t eaten any food and was starving and tired. The recovery vehicle gentleman that dropped me off at keele services was very nice and friendly, he also had good conversation and communication about what was gonna happen. Then I get a call of of the gentleman who is going to pick me up from keele services and he said he is an hour away. I sat and waiting inside the services which was the first time in 7 hours that I had been somewhere warm and safe. Then I checked the app and it said the RAC man was 20 minutes away. I kept refreshing the app, then it got stuck at 15 minutes, I left it, I looked again and the estimated time then said 6:30am-9-30am, I called the RAC immediately to ask what was going on and that I am not waiting till 6:30-9:30am at keele services, they then said to me that the app bugged out and that the man was still on his way and is only 10 minutes away. I walked outside and got picked up at 2:50am. The gentleman was really nice and spoke to me on the way home, good conversation and communication again, very friendly. I got home at 4am. Overall it took me 9 hours to get home as I wasn’t listed as a priority. I felt scared and vulnerable in an unfamiliar place that I’ve never been to, left to sit on a car park at night as a young girl. It was a horror show and a nightmare. I had no sleep and no food, I had been at work that morning at 6:30am-5pm, I just wanted to get home to eat dinner and go to bed. The only reason why I have given them a 3 stars was due to the two recovery vehicle drivers who were kind to me the entire time.

I’m only giving this high score because of Nick the excellent driver of the recovery truck. He couldn’t have been more helpful and was an excellent representative of the company.
On the downside, even though we were classed as a priority we (two pensioners) were left waiting on the potentially dangerous hard shoulder of a very busy M61 for two and a half hours in the rain and under growing darkness. If you can’t reach priority cases quicker than that then you need to employ more drivers (like Nick).

The AA recovered me and my vehicle…

The AA recovered me and my vehicle promptly from the M6 Hard Shoulder, drove me 45 minutes to the Hotel I was heading for. I was very pleased with all of that.
Then the 1st rescue and recovery ‘technician’ came to see if he’d be able to repair my vehicle rather than the AA have to tow it 200 miles home, at the AA’s request. Not mine.
The ‘technician’ came accross like a flat bed driver that may have done a 1 day course on how to act like a technician.
My vehicle had cut out while driving and couldn’t be re-started. It was to be towed to a garage for inspection and repair if this guy couldn’t repair it. He made no attempt to repair it. He turned the key and couldn’t start it. But then chose to clear the fault codes before leaving, so now the garage will have nothing to go off when they look to see why it cut out in the first place.
Really disappointing. It was obvious he wasn’t a mechanic or technician. He was a nice guy though and friendly and polite. But that isn’t going help the garage diagnose and repair the fault. His incompetence has probably cost me an extra 2 hours of labour at £100 an hour. I wont let anyone from this company touch my vehicles in future.

I requested recovery from the AA around 10.35pm. The initial wait time was about 1.5hr and continued to rise. I was then Rand By the AA and told it would be 12.25am
At 12.05 I was rang by 1st rescue and recovery who advised it would be another 30-45minuts.

They arrived at 12.50am the engineer was very polite and Professional got me back up and running in a few minutes. I understand that recovery can take a long time. But the service wasn't awful.

Excellent service

Stranded with a flat battery in electric car. Ty arrived with truck to move me to charger. Absolutely lovely guy, cheerful, friendly, let me warm up in the van as was freezing! Explained how he was going to move the car, as needed slippies, and then together we worked out how to get a car with no battery power at all to open the charger door which required electricity to do so! Great fun! Can't recommend the company highly enough, and Ty deserves a bonus and a raise and a gold medal!

Broke down on the M65 westbound in a moho

Broke down on the M65 westbound en route to the M6 and Scotland in our Ford-based motorhome. Ben turned up after about an hour waiting on the hard shoulder and was great at recovering our moho to a local Ford dealership at Blackburn. He stayed with us while we and Evans Halshaw came up with a plan to get us back on the road ASAP. Many thanks Dave

Car broke down on a dual carriageway

Car broke down on a dual carriageway, fortunately managed to get to a safe place. After two failed attempts to get the car towed, due to the heights of the vehicles (there was an arch they had to go through that was 3.0 metres high) CPS Recovery came out and got me and took me to my mechanics garage. So grateful for their help. He was courteous and extremely helpful. Can’t thank them enough.

My M6 Saviours!

My colleagues and I got stranded on the side of the M6 on Monday and were absolutely terrified. Thankfully this team of wonderful people came to our rescue. Fully believe Zac, Britney and Tom went above and beyond to get us home safely... and kept us in excellent humour despite the terrible circumstances. What a wonderful bunch of people.

Thank you!!!
