Is this a bad IT joke or just an unlikely, bad coincidence?
I am reluctant to provide the certificate # to my insurance company.
Online AARP Defensive driving course. Do Not Take.
So boring and repetitive. Never ends. Longer than they said it would be. I would never take this course again.
Honest to God
Honest to God, the people who designed this course (AARP Driver Safety Course) should not be driving. They must have dementia as they repeat and review the same things for 6 or 7 hours. Do you really think people with dementia and other disabilities that would impair their decision making and reflex times can navigate the online site. The reality in Florida is that Doctors and other medical personnel who interact with people who should not be driving have an obligation to report them. They don't!
AARP safe driving course
I spent time AND money to take this course, only to get a $1.10 discount on my insurance, which by the way is going up $63.00.
Some of the information was common sense. Find out from your insurance company BEFORE you decide to take this course how much of a discount you will get. I understand the idea behind the course, especially the last section. If the course can be condense a little, it may make it easier to follow.
AARP Smart Driver course is useless
Spent 6 hours taking the AARP Smart Driver course only to find out GEICO doesn't accept it. The course is mostly common sense and older drivers should already know all of this stuff. I found the course to be quite condescending, they seriously spent time on how to put your seat belt on properly! And there were stretching exercises in there too. What a total waste of time, I learned nothing beyond the fact that AARP thinks anyone over 55 is feeble and simple-minded.
Not a valuable use of time
Very sad course. 1. Diagrams are poorly representative and lead you to the wrong answers. 2. The course never addresses some key things that could help every driver for example, a) cars can turn left or right, and it is not necessary to pull over to the left to turn right or pull over to the right to turn left - the car knows exactly what to do when turning, b) use your directionals to signal your turn before stopping in the roadway, c) if you are driving much slower than the speed limit and a car behind you wants to go faster it is okay to pull over and let them pass, and much more!!!
AARP Smart Driver Course Not ACCEPTED by GEICO in DELAWARE
AARP Smart Driver Course Not ACCEPTED by GEICO for Delaware.
I spent almost $30 and spent 6 hours of my time for nothing. The course was all common sense, I learned nothing from taking it. What a waste of time and money!
What a rip off!
Total Scam. I signed up to evaluate some of the programs, and cannot cancel. I've emailed and called and spoken with reps multiple times.
I took the AARP online driver safety…
I took the AARP online driver safety course for $19 this weekend. It took about 4 hours or so at my own pace when I wanted to work on it. When I was done i received the certificate by email and forwarded it to my insurance agent. i received a $58 discount on my 6 month policy which is $116 off of the year! Pretty cool, learned several things I wasn't aware of.
If AARP "knows" what you actually (with roadside coverage) get, i've not met/chatted/spoken one of their people that DOES.
If AARP "knows" what you actually get with a membership, i've never spoke to one.
Here's an example: I wanted to join AARP roadside Assistance but i had questions:
They say i am covered for 100 miles on towing so i asked, "Okay, is that a 'discount'? Is it free? What's the deal?" - I got transferred to the insruance company associated with them.
The chat person, they were out in a HOT SECOND. They threw up some phone numbers then BAM, it was OVER.
I call and the support and same thing (transfer) asked the insurance guy the same question, he wanted to transfer me back to AARP.
Are you getting the idea? NOBODY knew what was going on. NOBODY had the answer. All they wanted to do was keep transferring me.
It was ANNOYING. They were VERY simple qustions with very EASY answers bit NOBODY could answer.
I didn't want to be the guy, stuck out on the highway, and THEN find out that my coverage was USELESS.
Here's the real scare: One page says, $5.xx a month for the roadside assistance. Another page says "that's with our auto instance" and then ANOTHER page says, "There are FOUR different layers of roadside coverage". I am SHOCKED over the changes as you read and i think THAT is why NOBODY would answer my questions. Talk about HIDDEN information that you gotta DIG for and then, when you call to verify, NOBODY can answer you.
Old people don't have a CHANCE against AARP.
I mean WHAT do you get from these guys other than some cheezy gift and a lot of papework?

Well I joined AARP when looking for ?
Well I joined AARP when looking for a Auto Home Policy, paid for the initiation fee, and have CONTINUALLY received invites join more and more different programs ( for a PRICE of course ). One of the funniest one was the one about sending them a donation. Received 3 to be about close to number. The best one was when the asked " Do I NOT CARE about the Elderly". That was their reasoning for me to donate. Exactly what do you think a 69 year old person such as myself thinks about getting that as a reason to donate to AARP? Not much, BEING One of the ELDERLY. This organization is getting to be like everything else, a PYRAMID Scheme Corporation by my opinion. By the way I will not be buying life insurance through you. If I decide I need some I'll contact a agent on my own.
It's Sunday March 15th now
It's Sunday March 15th now. I booked a flight and 2 weeks worth of multiple hotel reservations in Manila between March17 and April 2, 2020 a month ago with AARP travel center....powered by Expedia. Do to the recent order by the Philippines president, Manila is basically under lockdown. No one is allowed in or out of the metro Manila area until April 14th. I called the hotels, they said that they can't do anything about my reservations until they here from Expedia about getting refunds or credits for future dates. I have been trying to cancel my flight and hotel reservations for days now with AARPExpedia..powered by Expedia...and Expedia. I get exactly the same results. Can't get a live person at all. Can't even send an email to them on their Customer Support site. Also, AARP, shame on you too for associating your good name with this company. This is BS. There should be a class action lawsuit started against this company for ripping off all these customers that trusted them to do the right thing at this time. It's all about profit. Shareholders should sell their stock in this company now. For the record my itinerary #'s are 7522106568895 for the flight, 7522348184184371 and 7522354525050 for 8 nights at a hotel in Manila. 7522351822180 for 4 nights at another hotel in Manila and 7522353165457 for 2 nights at another hotel in Manila. I was to spend those 2 weeks with my wife who lives in Northern Luzon. She is waiting for her US Immigration visa and was to meet me in Manila, but due to the lockdown, she can't even get there or enter.
