Ableworld are the largest mobility retailer in the country and believe this is because we genuinely care about our customer’s well-being. We employ professional, caring and knowledgeable staff to work in our stores, and provide quality mobility aids at value for money prices.
We pride ourselves on being an ethical trader who will not pressure sell items and if we feel a product should have an assessment we will not sell these online, as we want to ensure our customers that they are getting the right product for their needs, not just the most expensive mobility aid.
Our stores stock all types of mobility aids, including Mobility Scooters, Walkers, Powerchairs, Bathing Aids and Stairlifts. You can be assured that in all of our stores we provide the same caring approach to looking after our customers, and the same range of quality mobility aids.

We visited the Southampton branch and were served by Dean. He was very attentive to my wife’s needs, taking time to talk things through and let her try products in store.

I would like to thank the staff at the Woolston branch in particular Peter and Stewart. They fixed my rollator and didn't charge me. I have always found them helpful and friendly.

After getting no help on the Island, we went to the mainland to Southampton and Ableworld. This is an incredible place, the staff are wonderful, JEFF in particular. He showed us the mobility scooters, helped me to decide which one was for me, didn't hurry me, and explained how to use the scooter in detail. We also bought a wheelchair and Jeff continued in a friendly professional way, to help us choose the right one for me. I can't praise this store and the team enough, we left confident we had the right scooter and wheelchair, and all the advice needed.

I rang Ableworld Southampton on Wednesday 21/09 at approx. 9.30amto enquire about a riser recliner chair I had seen online. Dean explained that it was an end of line piece and was not in stock. He offered to make enquiries to see if he could locate one. We discussed other similar chairs and he suggested the Wrenbury. I explained that I was in Gloucester but needed the chair for an elderly relative in Portsmouth and I wasn’t too sure of the size. He was extremely helpful, patiently answered all my questions and I said I would visit the Gloucester store that afternoon.
My sister and I visited the shop and met Brian who had come down from Crewe to cover for regular staff. He was fantastic, he demonstrated the chair with my ‘petite’ sister in it, nothing was too much trouble. He showed us the colour swatches, the fennel green being the colour of the one in stock in Southampton. We left having decided that the petite would be the right size and went home to ring and order it.
By the time I spoke to Dean in Southampton again, Brian had already contacted him and the chair had been reserved for us. I paid for it over the phone, and Dean arranged delivery of it to their home between 11-12 am next day and also the removal of her old chair.
At 11.30 am on Thursday, I received a call from the live-in carer to say the chair had been delivered, perfectly situated, and the old chair taken away.
The 94 year old recipient is reported to be delighted, much more comfortable, able to get to her feet more readily although completely puzzled as to where it came from……lol
It’s unusual to receive such high levels of service and I can’t praise Ableworld enough for their helpfulness, attention to detail and efficient completion, less than 26 hours from initial phone call.Particular thanks to Dean, Brian and the delivery crew. I will certainly recommend your company to others and should I need more items in the future, Ableworld will be my first port of call.
Many thanks and Well Done!!!

Rarely have I been to a shop where the staff have been so friendly, so understanding and so knowledgeable - all very important assets when it comes to buying a mobility scooter. My wife and I would like to say a big thank you to Megan who guided us through a potential minefield and helped us make the perfect choice for me.

My wife’s wheel chair needed a replacement front wheel. One of the staff found a replacement and fitted it with no charge. Excellent service, highly recommended.

We visited Ableworld Southampton rather sceptically having been told by several other suppliers that two new castors wanted for my wheelchair were very difficult to obtain. Showing the very pleasant sales assistant my needs I was met with "i'll just ask in the workshop but we are very busy at the moment." She returned with a castor similar to what I needed with suggestions as to how it might fit. I was more than happy to agree that the small adjustments needed I could do myself so when asked how much? I was told "please take them with our compliments" Being offered what I wanted and free into the bargain is exceptional customer service. I said "The local church where this wheelchair in used will be forever grateful. Thankyou"

After my mother had been told by another company that a replacement part for her scooter would cost £500 she had Ableworld have a look at it.
She was extremely happy with their polite, friendly and professional service and even more happy that the total cost along with collection, delivery and full service only came to £120
Thank you for a fantastic service

Thankyou so much to this great local service. We have used the shop in Woolston previously, and so were happy to go back for advice on stair lifts.
From the office staff who took our initial call, Jeff a director of the company who did a home visit and the fitter Steve we have been treated with friendliness and professionalism throughout.
There was no hard selling and and every effort was made to make it as affordable as possible for us.
The fitting was arranged around our needs and the fitter Steve was a real gent, and fantastic representative for this local company.
We approached other companies who had a lot of spiel about themselves. We weren't taken in, and very happy we choose to support a local company who just want to support local people with their mobility needs.
Thank you Ableworld, Southampton!

When my mum's stairlift got stuck upstairs, I rang the Southampton Branch and spoke to Peter who was so helpful and tried to sort out the issue with me over the phone. When this didn't work, he explained about using the paddle on the arm as the handset wasn't responding. I arranged a visit from an engineer on Monday and, as promised, Peter called me at the time he said he would and advised when the engineer would visit. I asked to be rung when he was on his way and this happened too.
The engineer, Steven, quickly resolved the issue and wouldn't accept payment asking instead that I put this review on Trustpilot - I was more than happy to do this - thank you to all the staff - absolutely fantastic customer service!

First the good bits of my review…
On July 2nd I bought two Hartford Adjustable Beds, with ‘memory foam mattress’ the staff in your Southampton branch were excellent as were the fitting team when they came to deliver and assemble them just over two weeks later. Even today (Oct 5th) Jeff came out to see me about the quality issues I feel about mattresses. Ableword have probably some of the best ever customer service prior to purchase and after I have ever been given. 100%/100%
However I don’t sleep on customer service… here’s the bad bit…
These have to be the WORST mattresses I have ever had the misfortune to sleep upon. We’ve delayed complaining hoping they’d soften a bit but sadly no change whatsoever. They’re sold as memory foam, but I’ve slept on concrete with more flexibility and softness. My husband has congestive heart failure, he moves very little whilst sleeping at night so we chose memory foam to help ease his joints and reduce the aching - these sadly have exacerbated his problems and has now led to my own joints beginning to ache especially in my shoulders. Aches and pain are definitely not what I expected from £1200 worth of beds. My advice to anyone purchasing an adjustable bed from ABLEWORLD is to choose any mattress apart from the memory foam - buy a brick it’d be more comfortable. Jeff is kindly contacting the manufacturers but he isn’t hopeful of a positive result for me. So I now find I will have to purchase an additional memory foam mattress topper to compensate for this extremely poor quality mattress.
You really do have amazing staff who seem to go the extra mile, value their customers with a friendly prompt service. But are undermined in everything they do when they’re let down by a substandard product.

I have had cause to use the Ableworld shop in Woolston Southampton a few times recently and wish to compliment Dean who was so very helpful and patient. He was well informed about the products and nothing was too much trouble. The store itself is very well presented. I will use this shop again and highly recommend it. Thank you for all your help.
