Comenity Bank is hands down the worst bank I’ve ever had to deal with. They don’t care about their customers, they don’t care about loyalty, and they definitely don’t care about providing real suppo... See more

I will not use this AAA card for travel…
I will not use this AAA card for travel anymore. I have had problems logging into my account and unable to for the whole month of November 2024. Customer service is a bunch of people they hired to take phone calls from home. There higher up staff that are supervisors are just other people at their house taking calls as well. There is no technical person to help or anything! Customer service told me that " we did all we can do". I am still unable to see my transactions.
Michaels credit card
August 24 2024 : Made final payment of $178.50 through the web portal, with bank account number and routing number for Citi Bank, as I have done for a year.
September 10 2024: I get notified my payment is past due..??.. Comenity agreed to remove the late fee if I paid them with a Debit Card. I agree, I have the money, I give them my card number but my security code is odd, I even questioned the card with Citi Bank when I received it in the mail, 000.
Comenity's system won't recognize that security code & won't accept credit card payment. Their system claims Citi Bank has a freeze/block on my account. I call Citi Bank and ask for verification. Citi can see Comenity is asking for the money but they aren't finalizing the transfer, I have no blocks on my account and I have the funds.
I ask if I can send a check, Comenity agrees and approves my request for no late fees. They inform me of a pending amount of money that hasn't processed yet but couldn't tell me what it was for or give me a direct amount. I tell Comenity I need the card account closed so I never have to deal with this again.
I go on the Citi Bank app and send off the check for $178.50.
September 19 2024: Comenity processed the check. I went on Comenity web portal and my account was "not found", I was not able to sign in and assumed I was done with the company.
November 9 2024: Comenity calls and said I owe $44..??.. OK maybe there was a system error when I tried to check through the portal. I ask what the purchase was, they don't have record. I assume it was the from the last call. I just agree to pay using my Citi Bank account number and routing number. There's no notice of freez/ block on this attempt. I asked to verify my account with them was closed, Comenity said I can "close the account when it's paid in full"..??.. Comenity claimed I now owed $145.
I lost it a little.
Longer story short, Comenity claimed they would "remove the late fees" and that meant I owed $102.60 but since there was the $44 I just paid $58.60 would cover that. I'm furious because they can't tell me a breakdown of the charges, but to get rid of this issue (mind you I have fantastic credit 791, I always pay) I agree to pay.
I call my bank immediately and explain and verify the status of my Citi Bank account, everything is good.
November 11, 13, 15, 2024: I am constantly calling Comenity asking for an update, it's still not processed out of my Citi Bank yet.
November 16 2024: Comenity claims I owe $145 again since the payment was returned.
I am still furious, I have to BEGG Comenity to allow me to send a check again for the agreed amount of $102.60 and it would be 9 days till it reached them. Comenity representative said "you would be charged a late fee and they have helped me with too many late fee charges already. If you would just pay your bills you wouldn't be in this mess. " I fell to the floor in shock, I pleaded with her and she hung up on me.
I called Comenity back and was hung up on 3 more times when I requested a supervisor. Finally on the 4th try, I pleaded and begged crying until I finally got an an "OK, $102.60 plus a $2 fee, $104.60 and we're done."
Immediately went on Citi Bank app and sent the check.
Now I wait... In baffled anger.
commenity bank is harming their loyal…
commenity bank is harming their loyal clients on purpose.... it is 100 percent wrong and i will try to notify every agency to see how to stop them
i have a credit card with them for 13 years .... i use it and pay it off over and over
but since i did not use the card within 12 months with no warning at all..
no email...no text...no letter no phone call
they just closed the card ....how can this happen
i have a 825 credit score and great 13 years past with all banks
and now i lost 28 points on my credit score the card has a 25,000 credit limit
plus it is listed as closed card by bank as if i was not paying for it
i would love to use the card but they charge 28 percent interest...highest of all my cards
this has harmed me personally and now i have to re apply to replace a card i had for 13 years
i think a class action is necessary in this case..... this is not russia.... no bank should have the power to ruin a persons financial life
when i contacted them they say it is not open to discuss...i have been blocked
i am willing to go to court in person at my own expense to rectify this offense
Fxcking scammers
Fxcking scammers! I have three store cards with these motherfxckers and have them on automatic payments. These morons have been drawing the payments late then charging late fees and interest! Fxcking horrendous! STOP! Check all your cards and if with Comenity Bank, cancel and save! You owe it to yourself to learn from other peoples mistakes.
I have a couple store credit cards.
I have a couple store credit cards with cominity and so far they have not properly taken out the payment as they are supposed to and they make it out to be my fault. I have a payment arrangement with them and they have my card information on file to take my payments but they never take them when they are supposed to take them. They take them when they want to, or not at all. Then when I get a letter saying I missed a payment I have no clue why and when talking to them they can't tell me other then I didn't make the payment. Which should have been taken when I made the agreement. Not to mention I just found that there is a law suit against them. One of my store cards is for a business that is going bankrupt. Once the cards are paid I'll never deal with them again and tell everyone not to
Comenity Needs To Be Shut Down!
I have been a AAA Visa card member for over 20 years. When Bank of America owned it, everything was fine. Now that Comenity took over, I'm thinking about closing my account. Apparently, Comenity had been trying to get a hold of me to verify my phone number, but because there's a presidential election coming up, I've been ignoring calls with unfamiliar phone numbers, and a lot of texts automatically go into my spam folder. Well, when I tried to pay for automotive repairs with my Visa, it was declined twice, so I had to use my AmEx instead. I tried using the Visa card online later that day, and it was declined again. I didn't understand because I make weekly payments on my account, I was nowhere near my credit limit, and the card is nowhere near the expiration date. So I called customer service, and the rep didn't seem all that professional, plus it sounded like she was chewing gum the entire time. She asked me several questions to verify it was me, and wanted to know the dollar amounts of the declined transactions. The questions just kept coming; at one point she asked me what my doctor's name is since I charged the office co-pay to my card. She wanted to know everything about every transaction that posted to my account during the past month. I was beginning to feel uneasy, like I my call had been routed to a scammer. I got so irritated, I interrupted her to ask if this was really necessary. Her response was like she was reading lines from a training manual. I then asked to speak with her supervisor and eventually I was transferred to someone who sounded slightly more professional, but I couldn't believe what I had to go through to get my account unlocked. Never did I get an alert when I logged into my account. I don't want to ever have to go through this again.
Awful
Awful. Getting to be just as bad as Synchrony. I opened up a AAA Visa account, said they sent out the card, but I never received it. After 3 weeks, I called to request a new one, and was told the account would have to be reviewed and they would send a letter. I never got the card, never used the account, confirmed the address on file was correct, but was told they couldn't send out a new one until they reviewed the account. No one could tell me what that meant. One person said they would need to check to see if the address on file matched the one on my credit report. Well duh, they had to check it when I applied for the card and it clearly matched then and I never requested a change in address but the account still needed to be reviewed for my protection. Makes no sense, this is no different to me than a lost or stolen card and since I never requested a change in address and I am stating I didn't get the card, then why does it need to be reviewed? I have another card with them where there was an issue with my bank sending a check that after 30 days of mailing it, still hadn't been applied to my account. I called and the rep confirmed there was no record of receiving the check. The bank opted to stop payment on it and reissue a new one, so I called them and gave them the info and told them not to cash the other check because the bank stopped payment on it. The next day the missing check mysteriously was showing on my account as returned, so they charged me a NSF fee AND suspended my card until I could prove more consistent payments. I always paid on time and ALWAYS paid the card twice a month and for more than the minimum due each time. I guess one little mishap with a check qualifies for horrible payment record. What a joke.
Late fees
I tried to make my payment at 5pm it would not accept. So I will be charged late fee but website says until 5pm. Ver unfair
Comenity Bank/Academy Sports merchant account
I have had dealings with what appears to be a fraudulent company while using an Academy Sports merchant card. I had always had a zero balance. One day while in Academy Sports decided to purchase something for the amount of 97.25. Now at the time I opened the card, I made sure that auto draft was set up in case I missed a deadline date. I did this since this card is rarely used and it’s my rule of thumb to do this for cards that I rarely use. Well once the 30 days came about the minimum amount was not taken out. I found this out after receiving a email message on the 3rd day after the due date. So I immediately went to their website and paid the full amount off. Then, I made a call to Comenity explaining what happened. Well, the CSM said they would happily remove the late fee as a courtesy due to me being a good customer and because of their error. I went on about my life until I received a statement that showed the late fee hadn’t been handled. So, I made another call and spoke to a representative who stated she seen where it had been handled. So, once again went about my life. Then, 30 days later, another statement arrived indicating the amount had not been handled. Again, another call to Comenity. This makes the third attempt to rectify this situation. Remember, the charges weren’t from the actual purchases made. These charges are from late charges. One late charge and others on top of late charge. More than 3 late fees have already been charged by now. Now, I make a 4th call to Comenity to see what the problem is in correcting this error. The representative that I spoke with said she didn’t see where there was anywhere on their system where anyone that I spoke with made any agreement
to remove the late fee and didn’t show any individual spoken to on the dates that I called. Although, I was given a confirmation number by a manager by the name of Ariel. Remember, I was charged the third day after the past due date. Which should have not been late, in the first place. This is bogus!!! They know it too!!! By now, there’s 4 late fees on my card. Well, I finally filed a dispute with all 3 credit bureaus, disputing these claims of fraudulent late fees, along with all of my previous complaints, call in dates, and conversations were given. They also began charging 2.99 for paper bills, which I had not requested. I set up paperless billing, originally, as I did the auto draft. My credit is very important to me and would not allow this to continue. Im more responsible than that! I would advise anyone dealing with this company to record your conversations with each representative you talk to. I have now contacted my attorney to check on a class action lawsuit against them for bogus charges. According to all my research this company seems to be making these same claims against many, many others. It looks like a class action lawsuit is probable. I have NEVER dealt with this kind of treatment from what should be a company that honors what they promise. I’m telling you all this to let you know how they work and letting you know the experience I had. I will NEVER open another store account again, due to this bad experience. I just NO longer trust companies anymore. This problem should have been handled the first time that I called, but has resulted in nothing being done. I’m still shocked by this practice being allowed!!! I just NO longer trust the company’s that are are there anymore.
I have Comenity AAA Visa for a few…
I have Comenity AAA Visa for a few years. I usually pay my balance in full until this year. I decided to set up an Automatic payment just in case I got sidetracked. On Sept 3 I checked my balance and paid everything in full not knowing that there was a $9.98 due for automatic payment, the whole September I checked my account and it showed up as "No Payment Due" Until Sept 27 when I called my bank because there is a payment that I did not recognize from Comenity, we checked it out online and it showed up as fraud charge. My bank went into action and stopped the payment. October came around and I found out Comenity Bank charged me $30 for a return check, I was confused as I paid this card online. I called Comenity Visa to find out what is that charge for. Kalish (Customer Rep) told me it was from an automatic payment that did not go through $9.98. When I told her that I was not aware of this automatic payment since every time I checked my account it would show up as "No Payment Due" ask her if she could do something about this $30 return check charge. She said, "Nothing she can do". My conclusion from this conversation is that Comenity Bank just stole from me as a good creditor I hate banks that steal people's money through no fault. If I had seen a balance due on my account, I would have paid it immediately, that month of September I checked my account multiple times, and all I got was "No Payment Due" Then they surprised me. Do not set up any AUTOMATIC PAYMENT if you don't want to get slapped with a $30 charge. Remember the unknown automatic charge (since your account does not show the balance due) was $9.98. They charge me $30. Comenity Bank stole $30 from me. I will not forget that and I will not recommend this card at all.
Fraudulent credit card company
Fraudulent credit card company - BEWARE!
They will add fraudulent charges to your account so they can steal your money and that's exactly what happened to me.
Don't know how this is legal and they need to be stopped!
They are a very bad bank to deal with…
They are a very bad bank to deal with it made my payments on time but it want reflect on there end for 24 hours which means by the time they see it it will be late which is bull so I think they should have had me pay on the 6th instead of the 7th if they knows it takes 24 hours to see my payment so they charge us interest so the whole time I'm making payments I'm only paying interest and not for the item which is bull thank God I finally caught on to wat they was doing or we would have never finished so I went and paid the whole thing off and they still talking about we owe interest and it's paid off smh so I suggest if it's them u have to go through don't or u will be wasting money o yeah even though we paid on our date they hit me with it has to be paid by 5 if I pay it at the store how will they get it by 5 plus it's not late cause it's still the 7th and they wouldn't get it for 24 hours anyways so they r ripping people off
Predatory Lenders
Predatory Lenders.
They lied about the amount of time I had to pay my balance, then charged me $1900 in interest (on a $1600 balance) in 6 weeks. The service rep refused to remove the charges and hung up on me.
Awful bank I have made numerous Cc…
Awful bank I have made numerous Cc payments to them and they always say the payment was good to go come to find out the money was never taken out. They are a joke and absolutely stupid
Unreliable Company
Comenity Bank mailed me a pre-approved Bread credit card offer. I filled it out promptly and after two weeks they sent me a letter that they couldn't verify my identity and was thus declined. I already have about 20 other credit cards and an 810 FICO.
Avoid Comenity or Bread credit cards!
Rotten bank!
I had this card company for awhile, recently paid them off in full. They even sent me a check for $100.00, the outstanding credit balance on my account. I closed the account in June this year, they just sent me a bill (In September ) for $11.90. This was for a late fee on top of interest on a closed $0 account. They courtesy forgave me the interest payment, but insisted that I pay the late fee and gave me a “one-time” courtesy forgiveness of paying a $9.00 phone fee for a payment processed during a phone call. I was angry, the representative was about to hang up on me. I will closely watch my bank account to see that they take out of my account EXACTLY what they are supposed to. DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK!
DON'T do business with this company!!
Should be able to leave 0 stars first of all!
ABHORRENT business practices, correspondence, charges, and "customer loyalty" practices. I am a teacher, don't have a ton of money, don't want the sympathy card, but tend to spend our money wisely if you know what I mean! I have mostly or always been a good, on-time paying customer for YEARS with one of your stores (I guess I won't blast them but they won't be getting a lost of my business because of this and I will tell them that). In most or always cases, I have paid the FULL balance on store charges. I don't need your card and was sold "good deals", "coupons" and "customer perks" and whatever else lies you sell people just for subscribing to this shady, heartless and perhaps fraudulent credit services. I truly believe you ripped me off financially and set me an "F" you letter after asking for help with fees and charges far extending the initial cost of a few store items. Paid in full. The charges were well over the initial charge and I am an on-time paying customer for YEARS. I missed the due date by one day because I was in the hospital, never getting sick like this, and contacting you right away. The bill was still paid in full. I was a day late. Lots of phone calls and trying to get some help with fees, charges, etc. you've straight up stole from me and charged me and racking up owes excessively, ignored and finally blocked my messages on the website, and did not shut down/close my account. Comenity charged me another charge again after late fee payment, after emailing, (and more than 95% of the initial purchase price in July)! Shame on you, Rebecca U. and other 'advocacy managers' associated with Comenity Bank. Shame on you people for what you are doing to good, on-time paying customers (maybe sometimes in a lifetime of credit account make some sort of mistake!), loyal, and trusting consumer and customers. Shame on you all. P.S. It's generally noted that good customer service does not include blocking a customer's messages after trying to come to a financial refund solution and asking for help several times. They sent me a terrible letter one in which I would never send to one of my small business customers , EVER! I would help them and ultimately write it off just for doing business with me in the first place. Not these guys. Don't do it. Whatever you do , DON'T open an account with these thieves and cold-blooded liars, no matter what deal, outrageous tale or coupon they offer!
Terrible and will overcharge you with…
Terrible and will overcharge you with fees! I want nothing to do with anything to do with them its that bad. My kid was sick and they wouldn’t work with me at all after several accounts and years with them with no late or missed payments. I was then hit with excessive late fees and they then use the awful company of MidlandCredit to collect small bills. The one star is to leave a review. Avoid at all costs!!! They also changed their name
Had a Catherine’s card via this…
Had a Catherine’s card via this company. One - someone made an input mistake on the correct date of payment & charged a $30 late fee. Second - No way to talk to a non-robotic entity at Catherine’s nor Comenity to resolve this. What a scam! My Comenity account is now closed & my Catherine’s card has been shredded into hundreds of pieces.
BEWARE!
BEWARE...My experience was I bought two rings at two different times had 2 different promotional dates they applied my final payment to the second promotional code then charged me interest for the first ring that was supposed to be paid in full paid because of their mistake my second promotional code was now over also which was supposed to end 12/24. I paid the whole thing off and then they charged me another months interest for a total of $2394.43 which I should have never had. I filed a claim wrote a letter with multiple phone calls and they never rectified anything. Long story short I will never by anything from them ever again and they say I'm a valued customer shows how valued I really am.
