Mostly good

The marketplace is clunky - i'm glad it exists, because that's part of building a believe that these investments are slightly more flexible - but I preferred your previous interface where I could filter by maturity date, or sort by IRR value etc.
Also, If i want to buy several listings, I'd like to be able to click on them all at once. I understand each will require its own emails, but it seems like a lot of extra mouse-clicks to go in and out of the menus.
Overall, what you're doing is terrific, though. It's nice to be able to invest in environmental projects.

Easy to use, accessing great companies

Easy to use platform, been using it for years. I love the clear and easy to understand risk warnings, but most of all it enables me to access (and select) real organisations making a genuine impact with the money they raise.

Abundance investment is a rip off

Abundance investment is a rip off, i invested in 2 companies Celtic Renewables and what is now known as Tandem. Both these investments are currently worthless although they say they are worth £3900, but if you ca sell them they have no value. I have waited for many years ( at least7) to get any return but have received nothing. Abundance does not even operate a recovery team on behalf of investors if the investments they recommend go in default. There maybe some interest paid ( regularly delayed) but the shares cannot be traded not even on an internal market which Abundance not the companies operate.
Do not be conned by their talk of being ethical and edo they are just another bunch of people taking their management fees but offering no protection on the behalf of investors and their due diligence which was the basis of my investment is clearly unreliable. DO NOT INVEST WITH THIS COMPANY

Hi Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear you've had a poor experience investing with us.

On Abundance you can choose to invest in two categories of investment - higher risk investments from companies, or lower risk investments from councils. You can read more about Abundance’s role in relation to our company investments here (https://help.abundanceinvestment.com/en/articles/3947968-our-role-over-the-life-of-an-investment) and our role in relation to council investments here (https://www.abundanceinvestment.com/legal/loan-disclosures).

We have always maintained rigorous due diligence procedures to ensure that the investments offered on our platform meet the highest standards of transparency, legality and financial sustainability - that level of due diligence has not changed. Our extensive due diligence is done in advance of a company raising funding through Abundance and typically takes months to complete. However our due diligence process does not mitigate the risks that can affect an investment - so we make sure there are clear risk warnings throughout the process of choosing to invest on Abundance.

We have worked, and will continue to, to support all of the companies funded on Abundance that have struggled in recent years, but our role is limited. As an investment platform only, our role once an investment has closed is largely an administrative one, and we do not manage the businesses or have a direct oversight role. We remain in regular contact with each of the companies that have raised money on Abundance, particularly those that are facing challenges. The two investments you made have been restructured into equity investments (following a vote by investors), which means they don't have a fixed repayment date. Our secondary marketplace does not currently support the trading of equity investments unfortunately, but if this changes in the future we will get in touch.

Please get in touch with our support team if you have any questions about your investments.

Kind regards,
The Abundance Team

Net Zero Investments

This is a great platform for investing in net zero projects within an ISA. I have been using Abundance for several years and now have a 'portfolio' of 18 companies and councils investments. I have 2 in default, but that's the risk you take (which Abundance make very transparent and why I have <10% of my total investments in Abundance). My reason for not giving it 5* is that it is not easy to move data in and out of the platform (e.g. to analyse marketplace offers)

Easy positive investment experience

So pleased to have been able to invest in and be a part of my local community's efforts to move towards net zero. The process has been really simple and straightforward and it's really great to be able to support to my local area's efforts which are so important. Thank you to Abundance to providing a way to do this easily and effectively! All in a great experience to be recommended.

Very poor investment performance

I had a very similar experience to Jon Nardiz - of the three companies I invested in, two are in default and one has been restructured so I won't get my principal back for an additional 5 years that was added to the initial investment duration (to be honest given my experience so far I am becoming less and less confident that I will get any of my principal back..). Communications are poor once you have invested in a company. One investment I had that was meant to mature in August 2023 has been going through an administration process since January 2024. The last update we received was 5 months ago in July 2024... As soon as I can get whatever of my money is left out of these investments and close my account I will do so

We ask all of the companies to provide 6-monthly updates to investors, or more regularly if there is material news. For companies in administration, unfortunately this can be a lengthy process with limited material news for periods of time, however as soon as there is a material update for investors we ask the administrator to provide one.

Please get in touch with our support team if you have any questions about your investments and the current status of returning money to investors.
