Good quality product and helpful staff

Had a 'warmer roof' fitted to an existing plastic glazed conservatory. The old roof was removed and made watertight in one day and the whole job completed within two weeks of starting. This included the fitting of cavity trays to replace the lead that had been cut into the outside brick skin. Colour match of the 50 year old bricks was excellent and standard of workmanship, experience and helpfulness of all employees was beyond that of a company that was the most competitive on price. We now have a west facing room we can use all year round.

Unsatisfactory and Disappointing

Had a patio door installed at a reasonable price, the guys did a good job with insulation but after they left noticed the door heavily scratched on the inside pane of glass, needed a replacement, not a good start. Replace in 2 weeks, glass was fine but the installer scratched the guide rails when fitting, should really be a two man job, again disappointing. Ordered a glass canopy at the same time, delayed by 5 months. Insulation was ok, but after a downpour the was a severe leak down one side. Had 3 further visit to fix, usually just added more sealant, didn't work, still leaks today. The glass installed was pilkington self cleaning, after 1
year they are filthy, rang up to ask why and staff were rude and told me to ask pilkington or just clean it. When the installers told me not to clean it, clueless. In the end very dissatisfied and disappointed with the quality of product and service, would I recommend, no.

They Ignore Their Customers

Phoned for quotation on some work, had a visit from surveyor after 3 weeks, and was told would get quotation next day. Fast forward 3 months, and after 4 contacts with them to chase the quote still nothing and just always told "I'll speak to the surveyor". But everytime I speak to the office am told no feedback from surveyor and will try to speak to him again. Doesn't add up, incoherent stories and feels like the just put any customer contact straight in the bin and ignore it. Beyond absolutely useless. Other reviews on here evidence I am not the only one who has this experience of the firm.

1994 Acorn Aluminum Double Pane windows…

1994 Acorn Aluminum Double Pane windows are HORRIBLE! The so called "thermal break" is a joke. It does nothing to stop HEAVY CONDENSATION and FROST!!! Actually have frost so thick on the inside it's like snow. I live on Long Island NY.
They are super cheaply made.
I REPLACED them they were so bad.

Have had the same treatment with Acorn…

Have had the same treatment with Acorn Glass, lies, bulls--t, and empty promises sums up this company.
fourteen weeks after accepting their quotation and being told by a guy called Leigh, your on the list three weeks and the job will be done, i'v got all the stuff to do your job.
We then we get a new quotation wanting close to another £1000 for the work, they then give me a date of another seven weeks. I have now cancelled the order with them and gone elsewhere. have not even had an apology. be careful.

Avoid like the plague

Please don't make the same mistake i did. I had windows installed for the first time back in 2011 i didnt know at the time that i was meant to get a fensa certificate as soon as i found out I tried everything i could to get acorn to take accountability I fought for over 2 years. Dealt with the "new director" Graham who just kept dodging calls and ignoring me. I wrote to trading standards and fensa who didn't take action against acorn even though what they did is illegal. After 2 years i couldnt take the stress of it anymore and realised they were waiitng for me to give in i had to give up. I am now in the position of wanting to sell my house and i have no certificate, so at best i can pay £400 to building control dept in Local Authority or at worse they may say my windows don't meet the basic requirements and i dread to think where that will leave me. I am a woman living alone with my two children they totally took advantage of my naivety. The only thing that would bring me any comfort is to help others avoid making the same mistake as i did.

AVOID

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. There is absolutely no support from this company after things go wrong.
They did some work for me in July 2017 and despite telling them at the time that there was damage they never came back to me after they had received their money. The problems got worse and I contacted them again in June 2018 hoping to get the issues resolved. Since then I’ve been consistently lied to, fobbed off, ignored and had promises broken by the director Graeme Davies. He’ll promise the earth for delivery in ‘a few weeks’ and then continue to ignore you.
They claim to guarantee the work but, in my experience, it is not worth the paper it is written on!
If you use this company you can expect sub-standard work (decking boards that are damaged on installation, leaking guttering, poorly fitted doors that within a few weeks drop to the point that they cannot be closed) and zero follow-up support. When you ask them for help because your house is not secure, they ignore you for days on end. In the end I had to get someone else in to make the place safe!
I have pictures if anyone would like to see the extent of the poor work. I now have French doors that were made and fitted by this company that you can feel the wind blowing through them and see daylight through the seals!
As well as this (and despite numerous requests) they have not provided me with any documentation (FENSA certs etc.) to prove that the work was done to the required standard.
I have waited in for them on numerous occasions only to be let down and told at the last minute that the work wasn’t going to be done today. Graeme (the director) doesn’t even have the decency to talk to me directly and continues to not answer my calls.
Poor product, poor after sales support and ZERO respect for their customers.

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would! The aftercare is shocking! They make promises they don't keep. They don't turn up when appointments have been made for things to be fixed, then insist they haven't heard from you and they pretty much call you a liar. The part owners are the worst!! They speak to you like something they've walked in, which makes you feel apprehensive when you do need to call. They're awful and if i didnt ever have to have anything to do with them again it would be a blessing.

What aftercare?

The initial fitting was fine but 2 faults appeared shortly afterwards. It took 3 calls before they came out to look at the faults but 6 months later we have had no further visits so the faults still exists. another phone call and a promise that someone will contact me in teh next week. Maybe.
