Overreliance on AI + Not listening to Users
I've been disappointed in the last few months about this organization's reliance on and adoption of AI tools like Claude. I share my time for free because I want to help the people in front of me but the more AI elements ADPList has rolled out, the more I feel like it's trying to steal insights and recommendations from myself and other mentors. I have specifically turned off AI summaries on my sessions but still received AI summaries, nevertheless. Makes me think that my choices as a user are not actually being listened to. I moved my time and energy elsewhere. I would recommend other mentors do the same.

Thank you for saying this plainly instead of just leaving. You gave your time for free, so you deserve a precise answer. Here is exactly what I found when I went through our code this morning.
You are right about the part that matters most. You turned AI Note Taker off and still received summaries. Your setting does control whether your own voice is transcribed, and that part did work; you were never transcribed.
What it does not do is stop the summary from reaching you when the person you are meeting has notes turned on.
So you were sent a record built only from their side of the conversation. That is a gap in our design rather than something you misread, and I am fixing it so that turning the feature off means you stop receiving it too.
On the larger concern, I want to be equally straightforward.
These summaries are not there to harvest mentor knowledge. Both people in a session get the same record, and its only purpose is so the two of you can pick up where you left off. We do not sell it, and we do not build products out of your advice.
I would rather have this conversation with you directly than through a review. felix(at)adplist(dot)org comes straight to me, and I will answer anything you want to ask.
Great to be a mentor
I love being a mentor and enjoy my interactions with the mentees. My only challenges are with no shows and sometimes zoom isn't working for them.

On the video side, our sessions run on our own in-browser video rather than Zoom, so if it failed for a mentee, I would really like the details. That is a bug I can chase. felix(at)adplist(dot)org comes straight to me.

The most viable mentorship platform
I've been mentoring on ADPList for more than two years now. Besides giving mentorship sessions, I've also received some. It's not the only mentorship platform I've been on, but it's probably the largest and most accessible of them. ADPList is not perfect. It's buggy occasionally, and we don't always agree with the leadership. But it's a good net-positive platform to recommend and be on.

The booking management was buggy and…
The booking management was buggy and did not work properly with calendar sync.
Customer service was also horrible. AI chatbots could not address my problem with the booking process, and the human correspondent did not respond after I explained the problem further.
Mentors are nice, but the booking system and customer service have ruined the user experience so far.

I like this platform, a standard would be helpful
I like this platform, I've only had one mentorship session where I was the mentee, and one where I was the mentor. I think it does a good job prepping the calls so both parties know why they're meeting. I do think that an extra level of validation for the people who are meeting would be beneficial, so there's the same level of standard everyone can strive to uphold.
