Terrible
Terrible - go on to an investment board for chat with similar, like-minded investors - NOT !
Abuse everywhere. Trolls who simply swim about causing nothing but mayhem. When it is reported to the 'Abuse Team' they do not even reply after 6 reminders!
Do not waste your time on this joke of a company.
If you want to use the share chat page…
If you want to use the share chat page you better have a strong stomach. Unmoderated, Advfn do not reply to your emails even if the abuse is directed at yourself. Won’t be trying any of their other services just in case they are as bad, and reading the other reviews I am right to do so.
I agree with last two reviews
I agree with last two reviews. The threads are unmoderated and often contain uncivilized wording etc. Very easy to sign-up / upgrade subscriptions online - but when it comes to downgrading / cancelling then not possible to do online.
Easy to join, not so easy to leave
My subscription to ADFN has always been on-and-off for the past few decades as I’m a swing trader who doesn't need to trade every day of the year.
However, the issues I encountered during my last subscription has me doubt I will ever use their services again. Fact is, I need a supplier who can allow me to easily and quickly subscribe/ unsubscribe for what can sometimes be only six months of the year.
When I last went to cancel my subscription I sent an email, to which they replied I either needed to phone or send a letter. I opted for the letter, which was sent. It was a few months later that I noticed they were still withdrawing my monthly subscription from my credit card, so I emailed them to find out why and to stop. They conveniently denied receiving my letter, even though it only travelled fifteen miles!
I was therefore forced to call them, which was not something I was wanting to do. Reason being the previous time I called them to cancel my subscription they connected me to some sales guy giving me a hard sell to keep my account going, something I didn’t want to put myself through again.
It’s quite obvious that if any company like ADFN can take your online payment to start an account, then they have the same infrastructure to do the reverse. Until they recognise some of their clients like myself are offput by such an archaic phone or letter system to cancel their account, then they will, like me use their many competitors who give me the same information with easier exit conditions.
Terrible. Avoid.
Terrible customer services. Incredibly uncouth, won’t accept emailed termination notices. Insist on calling (voicemail) or postal. Clause 3 (14 day change of mind) only applies to the initial subscription not renewals. Bulletin boards unmoderated and full of trolls and foul language. Avoid. Find another provider that values their customers.
Sharp practice and very user unfriendly
I was paying over £600 pa for Level 2, which I found to be of v little use, so stopped using it (not ADVFN's fault, just mentioning). Then I realised that amongst the thousands of emails I receive from ADVFN was an email full of marketing junk with a small reminder right at the bottom that I'd be renewing £600+ in 7 days (no mention of the amount and nothing in the subject title about renewal). This is very sharp practice. Also the site drives you mad with flashing ads everywhere. Use it for free but try not to buy anything off them
Cannot delete from portfolios anymore
Cannot delete from portfolios anymore, go to portfolio tutorial and nothing happens when clicked. One on its way out!!
Useful Website - Terrible Company
Website for what it is, is okay (I was guided through the use of the website by "The Naked Trader").
However it is massively let down by their use of the continuous payment authority, terrible cancellation policy (with no warning about impending renewal of contract) and customer service which at times is awful too.
One of the best finance website…
One of the best finance website available on internet. Live feeds, forums are informative.
Awful customer relations
Dreadful customer service and not interested in customer loyalty - payment was taken from my account over a month after my account was suspended and when I explained that I had been distracted by family/covid related illness they refused to offer any kind of refund due to 'T&C's'.
Steer clear. Shocking service.
I signed up for an ADVFN newsletter and then never received anything from them. When I realised they were charging me every month I contacted them to cancel. They told me to phone them which I did numerous times - each time being sent to voicemail because no-one was available. Eventually over email they agreed to cancel but then a week later took another payment telling me they need 30 days notice for cancellation. Shocking waste of money and very poor service.
Absolute garbage
Absolute garbage, avoid this site and keep your sanity.
Recommended for newbies like me
I was new to investing and I found the site a little confusing at first but soon got to grips with it and discovered that the information was really useful for me to keep track of my portfolio and filter through stocks to find ones that fit my investing criteria. The follow feed feature is really useful as it alerts me to things happening with stocks I am interested in keeping an eye on.
Perfect for those new to investing
I'm quite new to stock investing and have found the ADVFN site invaluable. It has so much information and some great analysis tools that I'm slowly getting to grips with. Monitor, charts and news are my go to but have just started using Follow Feed, which flags in real time what's happening to the stocks I follow (breakouts, news, high volume trades etc). Would recommend the service to newbies and pros alike.
Money grabbers
Very poor service when it comes to cancellation. Firstly despite signing up online you can only cancel by calling them, you can't even cancel by email. Secondly after calling 3 days after I got billed for another month, I got told my subscription wouldn't end for another 58 days as I need to give 30 days notice and I have to pay another month. What a rip-off. It's not like I'm tied in to a contract, they are just forcing you to pay another month when there is no reason to (other than their unreasonable T+C's).
Website is also archaic and confusing at times. The bulletin boards are just full of bad language and abuse as no-one monitors them.
Disgraceful company practices.
Disgraceful behaviour, Wild West attitude to online business. I subscribed, decided the same day their recommendations were too far off my radar, so sent in email saying ‘please cancel’. They replied saying ‘being dealt with’, they then wrote from a different email address, straight to spam, ‘you have to phone in to cancel’. Result - two months charges to card. Found the spam, called in, they wanted two more months charges ‘as per terms and conditions you agreed to’. If this is their attitude to customers and ‘can cancel at any time’, steer well clear, no integrity whatsoever. How can you trust anything they say?
Activation link not working
I have never actually bought a service…
I have never actually bought a service from this company which I first contacted 2 years ago but
decided, after looking at their daily newsletter and commentary, to proceed no further. I unsubscribed
the email contact but still receive at least one a day
sometimes 2. They are a very aggressive company and
simply, in English parlance, "not my cup of tea."
Bought 3 stocks
Bought 3 stocks in a report generated by ADVFN. Within the last 4 months, one lost 29%, another 33% and one gained 9% bearing in mind we've had a pretty substantial rally. All 3 are my worst performing stocks out of my portfolio of 30. Emailed them to say unimpressed only to be told 'yes, but it's a long term investment'. I did cancel easily, hence the extra star.
5 Star
Been with them a while. Superb service. The portfolio is BRILLIANT. the site is a little busy but you get used to it. Fantastic for both experienced and novice traders. Well done folks there
